  • In the video of today we are coming to you with the review of two trail running shoes that we have been wearing for the last two years now. These are KALENJI TR TRAIL AND KALENJI EVADICT XT7 TRAIL. They are both great hiking shoes in our opinion and have many similarities between them, that’s why we decided to combine the two reviews in one video. We’ll see how they differ, look at the general specs of them and share our real on trail experience and final thoughts and opinion about them. Also we have one old pair of shoes that we’ve been wearing for the whole year now and one new so that we can compare their durability as well. Let’s get into the video!

    What type of shoes you prefer for hiking?

    • @davidneu8889
      @davidneu8889 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the same shoe now, the XT7, and even though I have only tried it for a short trip (that is challenging at least) it was comfortable. The grip is excellent, when others slided down I had no problem standing on a rock or in the mud. There is one thing that I would like to improve. I feel the rocks after a while under my feetball. I have bought 2 other insoles, one Aptonia run 300 and a sidas cushion gel as they seem to be better quality compared to the original essensole included but have no experience with them so far.
      Do you have any suggestion regardin it? :)

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidneu8889 We just love the soles of these shoes, they have really great grip. We had no issue with the original insoles rather than just them wearing out after several months of use. Then we just kept replacing the insoles with Aptonia ones that you mentioned and it worked just the same great changing them quite frequently. It is the matter of finding your comfortable one, it is a quite personal thing especially if you have demanding feet.

    • @davidneu8889
      @davidneu8889 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WalkingNatureWorld Did you feel any noticeable difference between the original and the replacement (aptonia run 300)? :) I also feel that the original is great in comfort, I just feel, that on a really rocky terrain I would need a bit more cushion on the front to reduce the feel of the rocks (that is great by default).
      + I really liked the video. :) Well done, all the information that could be needed, keep it up. :)

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidneu8889 I think I felt (Angelina) that they were a bit softer than the original ones, I do find them slightly on the harder side so changing the insoles and trying different ones does help with that.
      Thanks again, we are currently working hard on doing other gear reviews that we'll post soon so stay tuned for that:)

    Fantastic review! This is by far, one of the best reviews I have seen on any product. Especially since you wore the shoes for a year and provided that experience and level of follow-up. Fantastic job. I will be watching more of your reviews. THANKS!

    Very informative and detailed review... thank you. We are not familiar with this brand of shoe but that you wore them for a year on the trails says a lot.
    A few years ago, we moved away from hiking boots to trail running shoes as well. Our brands are Sportiva (his) and Solomon (hers). The lighter weight makes a huge difference in backpacking! Cheers from 🇨🇦!

      Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful for you guys! These shoes are actually great, quality and comfort wise, and easily available in Decathlon stores. For us we know we wouldn't be able to hike in the boots for long, that's a torture for our feet.

    Awesome review! I was thinking of buying an XT7 because my Asics gel kanaku trail shoes is almost 4 years old and I started having foot pain on long hikes. And also it lost it's grip and I always slide in the mud while xt7 seems like you can hardly slide wearing them. Thank you guys for the review I subscribed! ;)

    I have used Brooks Cascadia trail shoes for 7+ years. But they cost 2.5 times more than these... 🙁... unless found on sale. I will order these to try. I’m presently training for the CDS next Fall. From the Black Hills of South Dakota USA. I enjoy your channel too. Very well done all around. Thanx!!

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you should definetely try them for the affordable price they have you can easily change them frequently if needed. But of course running demands may be different from hiking and also the comfort is a very personal thing so it is all the matter of trying. Let us know how it goes for you and have a great training season!

    Very interesting review! I'm quite impressed by the grip left on the soles after a year of hiking. The trail runners that I have worn for the past 2 years (2 pairs of Altra Timps) have none left. A question, though: how wide is the toebox?

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, these shoes are actually pretty durable. Just have measured the toebox and it is 10-10.5cm wide. But the fabric is quite soft and stretchy so it adapts to your feet very well. Dima has quite wide feet and he wears them comfortably. Hope it helps:)

    I have the Kalenji Tr but found that they didn’t provide enough support, I pronates slightly . I will be trying the MT Cushion as it looks like that may have better support. Also 4 mm drop.

    Были у меня EVADICT XT7. ОФИГИТЕЛЬНЫЕ кроссы! Просто как влитые на ноге. А пятка при ходьбе такая мягкая - просто обалдеть. Я на работу в них ходил по асфальту, как будто в тапочках удобных идешь.
    Единственный минус в них - задник пятки очень быстро изнутри протерся и материал на сгибе стопы сверху разошелся. Теперь они заштопанные живут на даче. В городе уже такие стыдно носить. А так жаль, что они развалились. Подошва еще могла бы ходить и ходить.
    Сейчас купил EVADICT MT2. Смотрятся тоже бомбически.

      Hi, we feel like the XT7 trail even though they are very soft end comfortable have a bit too much grip for pavement running that can prevent you from gaining speed for example.

  • @Bairdy34
    @Bairdy34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I owned the XT7 first and then the TR. I'd say the XT7 is a better shoe. Build quality, comfort, grip and stability are all better on the XT7 in my opinion.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your comment and feedback. Overall we agree that XT7 is a sturdier shoe and more suitable for all types of terrains. But they are both good quality and can hold up a lot. It all depends on what's more comfortable for a particular person.

    • @Bairdy34
      @Bairdy34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On my TR shoes the heels feel quite hard in comparison to the XT7. Basically like two pieces of cardboard and then just fabric. Are yours the same?

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
