Amendment to Tearlament Horus: milling the 3 off Imsety without Sarcophagus isn’t the worst since it’s 1 non-Aqua DARK for Tear to make mudragon with (it’s especially nice in variants playing Bahamut).
Just don't give Konami money in general. They've been doing the same crap for years. Releasing a new busted archtype/couple set of cards. And as soon as it comes time for the banlist 90% of the shit gets banned and a new broken archtype releases not long after just for the cycle to continue and for people to waste more money on a game that hasn't been fun since the extremely extremely early pendulum era.
Bro just save up and buy the cards.. It’s not worth waiting a year plus for everything you want in the game. Sometimes stuff doesn’t even get reprinted. Huge example POTE in the 2023 megatins (No spright or Tearlaments cards, Vernusylph etc, Kurikara) a lot of players get upset about that stuff cause you never know with Konami on what they’re gonna do when it comes to reprints. OCG is a lot better in this aspect and I don’t know why we get screwed over here.
Correction: Also Tear doesn’t trigger from Horus cards: Horus cards send to the graveyard as cost. It is played in tear to dump from hand and summon zombie vampire to mill 4. The mill 4 does trigger effects.
I think the Horus cards will find a home somewhere just not in the decks like tearlaments. for example it could be neat in a deck like Ogdoadic who's whole gameplan is already about reviving things from the GY but that's not exactly a competitive strategy since Konami just refuses to print actually good reptile boss monsters.
I just want the cards to be affordable because I have a fun Slifer deck I’m running them as an engine for. Its very flavorful and thematic, seeing as Slifer’s name in Japan is Sky God Dragon of Osiris, and these 4 sons of Horus are his grandkids specifically dutybound to guard his remains and the remains of all pharaoh. I don’t want to spend a fortune on it.
That's not worth it either. Imsety is already a trade-in itself in the hand, (which even searches King's Sarcophagus to boot), and you generally only run 2 other Horus monsters total besides Imsety, which means you most of the time only have 2 cards in deck that you'd want to trade-in.
It's a FUN engine and I've been trying them out with the _Centurion_ archetype but ya know... thats just me. Lol. I like them. Free Level 8s to help make your Level 12 Synchro, you have enough fodder for the engine and still play with one or two cards (bonus points if you are playing Volcanic Shell since both that and Trudea are both Bonfire search targets). But that's the thing... i don't think it's gonna go beyond being a NEAT option for a deck like that. Adventurer Token engine this is _not_
Tbh the adventure engine was a flash in pan. It played well into the engines previous meta decks had and was really dumb with verte and halq. It pretty much saw next to no play after both got banned for a reason, and it was significantly worse after the verte ban. I saw this as someone who's mostly played adventure plunder this year, running 3 or 4 with illegal bricks just makes the deck inconsistent.
@@glitchmakerygo after verte you stopped having a good option for adventure heavy hands. Like you could brick on hand traps and bricks in prankid, go rite add enchantress summon it make link spider then verte and very much win the game from that position because you had rite and dpe and the draw 2 for next turn. Then in NAWCQ format that year it popped up again mostly as a meta call because it was such a diverse meta and the deck required fairly specific answers to be dealt with while you had despia, swordsoul, and mystic mine all forcing people to respect them in deck building. The cards have historically only seen wide spread play when you're trying to protect an auto win combo or some nonsense. The deck I've been playing since kit got banned, plunder adventure, uses them to probably the best extend I've seen a deck use them. Opening white beard plus rite gets you to white rite and dracoback in hand, a draw, all on top of being able to have lines to trade favorable into like literally every hand trap in the game, though not all at once. Shifter is a bitch too but you're passing on at least one interrupt with some follow up off of those 2 cards. Or you go first and draw too many engine pieces for adventure and you brick. Its really just an incredible inconsistent engine.
I would say that the first deck Horus will really make sense in is Centurion because they are just consistent if not more consistent than Kashtira and they can functionally work with just 3 each of the lv.4s and 2 of the lv.8 and they only need a few searches on top of that. This leaves a lot of room to run 3 Emsety,1 each of the other Horus monsters, and 3 Pharonic Sarcophagus. Additionally you can afford to run Small World to search for Emsety because of the way Centurions function and that if you reveal one of your 3 Primera or another dark monster it won't really matter that much if you lose the revealed card.
Ehhh pre sale prices are always chalked. Just wait a few weeks post release to get anything or even a month. I’m getting the Horus cards pretty much day 1 and gonna play them with Dark World and PK. So don’t be like me and minus, just wait. I’m willing to take the loss since I’m not a budget player and I just like my shiny cardboard. I took a huge L in DUNE cause I bought the Visas synchro for $25 big ones on sneak peak day and now that card is like $2 🥲 so it’s give and take with this shit.
Maybe I'm missing something but is this archtype compatible with Horus, black Flame Dragon? I know that old D.D. was made separate from new D.D. so I am curious
In a very, very very unless way. They do not bypass the summon restrictions. The most they do is provide the protection. They even have a retrain of horus in phantom nightmare that they can use.
My opinion is that Konami is giving Horus cards that are treated as Pharonic Sarcophagus. So if they'll give us a card that not only acts as Pharonic Sarcophagus but can search for any card with Horus in its' card text once per turn and a card that can help with hand size. It will not only be able to become a deck by itself but it will probably become tier 0 because of Canopic Protector allowing you to once per chain when your opponent activates a effect special summon 1 Horus monster during your opponents on top of already potentially having 2 rank 8 xyz monsters. Canopic Protectors' once per chain effect also isn't once per turn. But you can't special summon a Horus monster with the same more than once per turn using Canopic Protectors effect.
What are you're thoughts on running these in Labrynth? The thought just occurred to me. Any dead Horus cards can be used as outlets for the Furniture, and rank 8 plays could help the deck. Just a thought
I still don't think it's worth it. It's "cool" for what you can get out of them, but I think you're more at a huge risk than be rewarded in using them.
I think the main reason why the Horus engine took off like it did in the OCG is because all of the Bystials, minus Saronir, are all limited as to where here in the TCG we only have Magnumhut limited Druiswurm, Baldrake and Saronir are all still at 3. So imagine you're playing Horus and you activate Imstey to search Sarcophagus and your opponent activates one of the aforementioned Bystials to banish Imstey and special summon you've basically just searched Sarcophagus only to have nothing to special summon from Grave
It has not even really taken off there. The diabellestar variant of tear overshadowed the horus build, and aside from some tops in a few decks, it has seen the most play in Centurion. The hype here is really just based off of how powerful people think the rank 8s are from the hype from competitive and casual players.
@@Tyler-Wiley Doesn't matter honestly. Maxx c alone completely warps the game. You follow the ocg to look at how the new cards perform. The high perform of deck/engine can then be looked at in the context of how it allows a deck to thrive in a Maxx c format, then we look to see if it can have any implications in the ocg. Sure, you have decks like pk adventure that flopped here, but then you have tear, spright, the adventure engine and dpe + verte whose meta warping translated to the tcg. Same with bystials and VW when VFD was around as well as despia at one point
Not completely different. When it comes to new sets, there has been trend of strategies doing well in the ocg as well. It comes down differenting success in the ocg that is strictly because of there meta from success that is because the cards are just that good. And besides, that "ocg is different" crap is irrelevant here because the only top deck it has seen a lot of use in is Centurion, a deck the tcg does not even have
It sounds like a more disappointing Horus support that, instead of supporting Horus, goes on end up supporting an old throw away deck about counting sarcophagi. :/
In terms of tear - don`t play those post agov. But during the next core set horus will get a field spell - Maybe this is the card tear horus needs to work better than post agov. I`m kinda excited if this engine can perform well enough in other themes.
I don't think it helps the build. It makes access to sarc more consistent, but you still end up discarding your cards without any benefit and get hurt by imperm. It is a good thing though because sarc would be broken if they sent for effect and not cost.
The package seems a little bricky now but next set we get a field spell that lets you search for a Horus monster and also acts like Sarcophagus also a new Horus Black Flame Deity. So it will become a lot more consistent in the future. For now, they seem more like cards that will work well in rogue decks and not really top meta.
I think they still seem like more of a rogue option even with the field spell. It really just comes down to whether or not the engine is worth it. May even need a third wave honestly. I will say that it does help when sarc gets hit with ogre.
As an evil eye player, it’s mid in the deck honestly, if you’re going to splash an engine use a small unchained package since reemergence is an instant Yama
I think the horus cards are stronger, when not shrinking them into bad XYZ. Also the continuous trap is an additional way to summon them back. So When you play 3x Imsety 2x other good Horus 3x Sarc. That is a ratio of 3 good cards to 1 brick.
Multiple copies pf sarc can lead to brick hands, and more than 1 extra monster can be risky too. The best decks to play a heavy engine is in control or trap decks. Issue with the trap, as good as it is, is that it is not searchable.
So from my experience mbts 10min testing was meh he was playing double happy for some reason and was also playing too many hands I think therion Horus can cook
Anybody else happily spending almost $350 for a playset of triple tactics thrust? I'm not saying I don't spend that type of money on cards but for those amounts I like to get vintage investments rather than something that's gonna get reprinted and dramatically drop. Even if it is a good card.
I sit back and grab some popcorn. i´m thinking that the hype is absolutely in the wrong direction. The cards from AGOV that should be hyped are not hyped. And that makes me laugh. Lets see who laughs last. Maybe all horus buyers, maybe me. Even on the new Zeus type of thing, people lose their minds. And i? I´m laughing because the card will not see many plays. Some sure, but thats definately not the next or the brother of zeus. So time will tell, but i don´t think that horus deserves that hype. And even it will succeed, this arctype can easily shut down by a future banlist and banning only one card (sarcophagus). This makes me absolutely stay away from this deck/engine.
The Horus engine is good in a bunch of fun decks, but in the top decks? Not so much. Diabellestarr is a better engine for the majority of decks. In the decks in which the Horus engine does shine though, it shines BRIGHT!
Honestly this AGOV pack seems just only valuable for Diabellestarr who is completely and utterly broken given how splashable she is, personally I only care about Tistinas from this set (which dropped immensely in price so gotta love that) since I am in love with their art and the potential they seem to have, if they flop? One more fun deck to play with for me, so honestly all of this talk about the other engines just seem... Idk kinda pointless, Diabellestarr will be the center piece (together with S:P cause waifus are all the rage in YuGiOh) and that's it, the rest can be cute to play with but beyond that? Nothing much Also I don't play competitive so I may just have said very incorrect things, apologies if I did
Yeah like running them to just get to the vampire zombie just to mill 4 in a deck that can mill 20, well its not a good option. The cards are nice with a high skill ceiling, but unless you're able to leverage them coming back turn 3 or the effects triggering on field the cards are just not very impactful. Running the minimum package is also just kinda bad but with only wave one out a bigger package doesn't really make much sense either. The cards will see play later, I think they are a natural fit for the centurion deck. Also they get way scarier into a board when the fire king rank 8 comes out, sarc also protects them from being blown up as well. But playing them in tear unless you're going full meme and doing something dumb like 3 trivikarma and a rainbow bridge package, its probably just not worth it.
That's not true. They have objectively done something in a few games. The issue is that they have no done anything in quite a few games on the channel, but there have been shit builds showcased as well. Last game I saw on there the dude was playing all the horus monsters and revolution synchron. I do not think the cards are worth it though. Your tear cards do not trigger when you send them for cost for the continuous spell and you neg really bad if vampire is negated
You can say that for a lot of cards. It would still be considered to be a flop if it fails to perform well in the competitive scene and have any impact. Even so, this does not mean that prices could not be high and an engine will not be sought after, but this seems to be mainly with high rarity engine pieces.
i hope they flop! I just wanna play a horus engine in my blue-eyes deck. if they turn out unviable, this would mean they would be untouched by the banlist and more importantly: cheap.
They weren't necessarily good there. The only deck that topped a lot with the engine is Centurion. The hype for the deck is based on speculation. Also, tear, spright, adventure engine, dpe, and despia all impacted the meta in the ocg at some point and did the same here.
@@mannywhiskey7872 Pretty sure you mean hot red dragon archfiend king calamity, not chaps dragon. Also, I know why Centurion is successful, but I am saying that only Centurion is the only deck that has a lot of topd with the engine.
Yeah it’s never felt this much like a hyper-managed “business” before- which is depressing

Correction:
Also Tear doesn’t trigger from Horus cards:
Horus cards send to the graveyard as cost. It is played in tear to dump from hand and summon zombie vampire to mill 4.
The mill 4 does trigger effects.
They actually do trigger. I played Horus tear in dueling nex and ygopro it triggers
@@mannywhiskey7872 then it's programmed incorrectly.
Totally on board with you Cap, nice to have you back with these vids
Lol the entire set is just THROTTLED by the rarity spread. Not touching it
What if they become meta? 😊
@@LyubovBoychukMaybe in Duel Links.
Hope the Age of Overlord set does as well as the Digimon Versus Royal knights set did.
One ghost ogre or cosmic cyclone and the engine is done. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this as a flop like how magical musketeers were.
If all the monsters are level 8, then you could run trade-in as draw engine.
That's not worth it either. Imsety is already a trade-in itself in the hand, (which even searches King's Sarcophagus to boot), and you generally only run 2 other Horus monsters total besides Imsety, which means you most of the time only have 2 cards in deck that you'd want to trade-in.
draw engines do not exist
@@trxsboy then why have lists been shown running trade-in's when using the Hours engine.
Sounds like an additional draw/discard engine to me.
@@marcusking332because people are bad. That’s why.
That’s why trade in has been getting bought out, bingo
Konami basically is having Horus the Black Flame Dragon third wheel this archetype and telling it to sleep on the floor💀
@@shawnjaveryI thought it stopped seeing play cuz of power creep and we stopped playing enough hand traps to fill two kitchen sinks, lol
I played test diablestarr engine vs horus engine. Horus is so fucking good in centurion
I have all three Tear, PK, and Evil Eye, so I won't mind trying them. But not at the price they're currently at.
Yes it "is" but without any synergy
In a very, very very unless way. They do not bypass the summon restrictions. The most they do is provide the protection. They even have a retrain of horus in phantom nightmare that they can use.
Well, yes, but only by name.
They basically told the dragon that it can third wheel if it sleeps on the floor.
Feels like a bit of a missed oppurtunity not tying new horus better with old horus, well the retrain really.@@chewdoom8415
Next set they’re getting a new support card that’s Horus Black Flame Dragon but a retrain of it.
Imagine trying to flood an already crowded deck with another engine 😂
@vollied4865 Hey, it was just an idea lol. I'm a Lab player myself, so I was just theory crafting
If it flops then it might be a cheap addition to my Ogdoadic. Just need to watch out for type locking effects.
Will this work with the old Horus card we had back then ?
So when these cards say "Horus" are they referring to their own set or will they work with any other card that has Horus in the name?
What would win $500 dollar deck or one single hand trap
Don't compare the OCG to the TCG. The two format are DIFFERENT.
But the game isn't
@@endeavor1299
The ban list completely warps the game. Same game, different ban lists which creates different metas.
Even some different rulings
@@chewdoom8415 that`s what I`m saying - tear horus isn`t good post agov
Are missing the trap.. letd you summon a horus when an opponent activates an effect. So you do get to resummon them
They are good but need to be splashed eith another deck to be quite powerful !
Honestly I'm not interested in the pendulum cards. I do think the Horus line will see play tho but IDK how oppressive it will be
Yup, the trap never exists....
Oh great. This is giving me flashbacks to Spirit of the Pharaoh.
Remember everybody played Garnet despite how cumbersome it was just to get 2 normal summons, so who knows.
The Hype: WHY AREN'T YOU HYPING FOR THIS ARCHETYPE?!
Prof Capital G: Well you see here, in past formats, not all engines....
The only deck that's sounded halfway decent to me with Horus cards is Tri-Brigade
This makes me absolutely stay away from this deck/engine.
i feel like it would work best in galaxy's. it definity helps them.
Nothing much
Also I don't play competitive so I may just have said very incorrect things, apologies if I did
my guys forgot 3×trade in for sarcophagus monsters you're welcome
To me, Dark World sounds best, but is there even enough room?
I’ve been watching db grinder videos with these cards in every tear deck and I never see them do anything lol 😂.
Horus won’t get good until we get centurion it is awful in tear lol
Cmon flopping lets goo ,😂😂, sorry i want them because the artwork is so sick, but their prices make me sick XD
I'd rather have Kitt back than have access to the rank 8 pool
The archetype is good, but its another overhyped deck thatll fall down to 1-5$ cards just like therion
They were made for The Winged Dragon of Ra
That's a funny way to spell Duel Links.
I hope its not meta so I can play them in pk without selling few organs.
Maybe the next pack of support for Horus will make it better...Give it time .
It will be a little better since they’re getting support next set in Phantom Nightmare
its overhyped but its not going to be a flop. Even if its used in tier 2 decks, that's still not a flop. A flop would see no competitive play.
You can say that for a lot of cards. It would still be considered to be a flop if it fails to perform well in the competitive scene and have any impact.
Even so, this does not mean that prices could not be high and an engine will not be sought after, but this seems to be mainly with high rarity engine pieces.
so do cards that see no play on release but is meta 2 sets after counts as a flop or is it a flipty flop?@@chewdoom8415
