How to put on a hooded winter wetsuit

A quick guide on how to put on a winter wetsuit. This is the 5mm Finisterre hooded suit, wetsuits vary, but the principle is the same.
Wetsuits need to be a tight fit; they are not always easy to put on but if you follow this guide, working from the bottom up ensuring that there are no folds or creases, you should be able to get into the right sized suit which is important. Keep in mind new wetsuits do eventually give a little and this process gets easier. This is the first time I have put this brand new suit on, I know it will get easier! As a surf coach, a lot of women have mentioned struggling to get their suit past their hips and thinking it's too small; this is usually, but not always (wetsuit brands vary in body shape) due to bunching of the material, so hopefully this method shows you how to avoid that.
Some tips from years of wearing thick winter suits -
- The matt on the floor keeps your feet from getting too cold in mid-winter.
- I don't wear anything underneath my wetsuit, it's the most comfortable way. Bikinis or swimming costumes underneath can gather, rub and slip. There is no need for a rash vest underneath.
- Notice the use of a beanie - keep that warmth in as you are getting changed!
