    I was not sponsored by Bosh to make this video. Is it worth the money? I purchased the Bosch router combo pack item 1617evspk a few months ago and I think it is great. Lets review the features together.
    BTW I think it is worth the money!

    Thanks for the video, I’m looking to buy my first router and this one looks like the model I’ll be getting. I intend on doing some minor timber frame construction - pergola, saw horses, etc. And could see this being a very helpful way to cut mortises

    just got my first router, the 1617EVS/PK combo. thanks for an excellent intro for us newbies. I've done a lot of "amateur" construction projects and a little wood work but never used a router. So, this was helpful.

    I went to the box store yesterday to buy the Metabo router. They were out, so I spent the extra money for this one. I love Metabo, but I super happy that I spent the extra.

    I watched this and followed along using it, love it and now thinking about getting a table for it for straighter edge cuts...can I use any table for the bosch routers or stick to a bosch table? If the latter which one do you suggest? (Great tool time reference by the way my wife makes fun of me for doing the grunts when I get done woodworking)

      If your buying a table then I believe you may need to purchase for the brand. Their are tables that will work for multiple brands as the screw pattern can differ.

    Out of all the video's I saw on using this router, yours was the best I thought. Since you had a 1/4" shank set, I assumed you twisted on the 1/4" collet and soooo easily but when I attempt to put it on my Bosch, the connection does not fit!!! It is driving me crazy when I tell you. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get it secured without an adapter of some kind. I am dying to know if you inserted the 1/4 in collet or am I going crazy. Even the directions/manual that comes with the router does not say how and the 1/2" was already on the router from inside the case. Really hope to get an answer from you Nate because I'm at a loss and don't know what else to do.

    Can you make another video discussing the issues connecting to a router table.
    I, and several others according to Amazon, have tried to fix the S base to tables. This is described in the manual, and the provided key is for this exact purpose.
    However, many third party tables lack support under the router. This is fine when the router is running, as the base can attach to tables to a high degree of decurity and fidelity.
    However, the adj rod breaks when attempting to change the bit depth. More accurately, there is a thin disk hold up the weight of the router as adjustments are made. The router is not going to fall off anytime soon. But the base is not actually appropriate for use in a router table.

    Ohh I love the brand of bosch I just got mine today from Lowe's I put a 1/2in. 2 flute flush trim and I was wondering why wouldn't it go down when I try it on the plunge base or does it have to be on so it can go down.?

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either your plunge router is deflective or there is user error. I suggest going over the literature that comes with the router to see if you can figure out what is happening.
      To operate the plunge action you need to press the plunge lever and press down on the router.

    I just purchased this set… the plunge fester seems clunky to me. It doesn’t drop consistently and smoothly. Did I just get a dud? Or is there an adjustment to the lever in the back? Have you noticed that before?

    Are you still happy with it? I'm looking to buy a router kit and looking at this vs. the Makita RF1101KIT. Will be my first router but would prefer to buy something decent and spend the money for a long term decent kit. Thanks!

    This Bosch router it's rated at 12 amp but my clamp meter displays only about 4.3 amps at the highest setting #6 !!! , and my Black and Decker air blower label says 12 amps l measure 11.9 amp ,my Ryobi router labelled 8 amp I measured 4,9 amps ...so what's going on here ? any electrician who can explain?

    • @natelarge
      @natelarge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting discovery. I would be interested to learn about this as well.

    • @badgiles
      @badgiles 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are probably measuring the current without a "load". If the router was working you would see the current higher. Your blower is working when you turn it on (unlike the router) therefore the current is almost already at its peak.

    • @robroberts2064
      @robroberts2064 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This router has a soft-start. It’s electronic speed controller (ESC) ramps speed by limiting the amperage to the motors. Only when it’s under an extreme (chip) load will it get close to allowing its full rated amperage through the ESC to the motor. Very nice feature. Not only does it make it less jumpy in your hands but you’re less likely to trip a breaker that may have other loads on it (like a vacuum dust extractor that almost certainly doesn’t have a soft-start).

      They're rated at peak amperage.

    • @David-hm9ic
      @David-hm9ic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@badgiles After I had my metal lathe's motor serviced the repairman put it on his bench. It drew almost the full amperage rating unloaded. He explained that single phase motors draw almost the full amperage even unloaded. They will draw a little more fully loaded but the difference is not great.
