Youth violence is crazy in this city. My cousins' son got into a fight at school alongside one of his friends, & the two kids he fought with decided it is a good idea to involve all of their friends. A few days after that fight, my cousins' son witnessed his friend getting jumped by that kid, & all of their friends. They beat that kid so bad that they broke his arm. Now, my cousin (His mom) has to transfer her son to a school far away to avoid that gang of kids. These are 15-16 year olds. It's so stupid.

People need to get their facts right. Sadly, it won’t be from this news story. This incident was between two female students at a nearby high school. This event demonstrates the apex of an escalating pattern of destructive behavior. Skipping classes, stealing from locker rooms, etc. It all starts somewhere. They were out when they shouldn’t be with no parental supervision, underage drinking and it all went sideways in an instant. Not completely sure why, but the mood shifted drastically. No migrants or illegal immigrants were involved in the crime despite random commenters trying to connect a nearby shelter. This was pure teenage drama that escalated to the point of deadly violence. Tragic it had to turn out the way it did. If you want to blame anyone blame politicians who remove the power and authority from teachers, safety agents and school administrators to properly hold students accountable for their actions. When kids don’t get suspended for minor incidents then they are emboldened. It’s not for a lack of the school trying, but the borough and city always shut down investigations, prefer to not make arrests when they are warranted and kids only get a slap on the wrist if at all. What you are seeing nationwide with DAs not prosecuting criminals is occurring on a parallel track at high schools around the country.
