I've owned a 90 TD5 from 2000 for over a decade, I'm 6'4" and I don't recognise many of the driving faults you mentioned. It's a great, commanding driving position almost akin to my Range Rover or Disco. The wheel wobble suggests there is something wrong with tracking or bushes or the set up of your air ride. Mine rides on Fox Shocks and Alives Eibach comfort springs with their updated anti roll bar and it's a great driving experience.

Great video. I just got a 110 and I have to say the smile it puts on my face is worth every penny. I absolutely love it. It's loud, slow, the headlights are...well, they're useless, but I wouldn't change a thing (apart from the headlights... ;)

I have a 110 hard top. I purchased 'her' for the same reason you no doubt did - to make slight and subtle modifications that would have been updated (in my view), if it was still in production. It is the most uncomfortable, basic, lowest equipped car I have ever owned - yet I can't wait to drive her and everytime I do, I have a huge smile on my face ALL over the time. Enjoy yours looks great!

Do NOT listen to the naysayers who slag City people with them and who add their own add ons they want. A kind of snobbery. 😂😂 I have worked on and driven them in various forms since 1963 in the 🪂Regt. Later leaving Army prepped a 11A and over landed to India with my wife. I still have a 110 td5 double cab for 14 years, no longer do my own work repairs as at almost 80 I am finding it harder with old injuries catching up.😜😂 I STILL LOVE THEM, NO MATTER WHO HAS ONE OR HOW IT LOOKS. Good Blog. Well done.

Like the video you can see by your smile how much you love it.
I have a 2014 110 and absolutely love it. I have carried out a few mods mainly not visible but one of the best mods I carried out was fitting a ORE 4x4 spare wheel carrier, they don’t require drilling and the noise reduction from the spare wheel rattling was amazing!!!!
With your wheel wobble driving down the road will be your wheel balance is out, mine did the same and went when the were re balanced.

I was going to say the same for my 2016. Also, I am 6’2 and have plenty of leg room thanks to some seat riser bars that slightly lift the seat and more importantly get the seat further back. I really do find it comfortable for long journeys now.

Nice car. I have the 2010 version with all the bells and whistles, winter pack etc. Mine is essentially standard except for a stage one remap. Its fab and not uncomfortable and easily able to munch the miles. Never had steering wheel wobble. You have an issue there. Noise? Never worried me or my wife in all the countries we have been to. The Defender is a utility vehicle, not be compared with anything else because nothing else gets close. imho

Unfortunately when I ordered mine I didn’t tick the A/C option, as I didn’t foresee 40 degree summers back then, at £1500 what an idiot right 😊. @chriswalker4272
You don't need massive wheels on a defender, because it makes steering heavy and doesn't improve drivability, unless your driving on soft sand or rock crawling. Which you don't. Also fitting a sump guard for looks only will reduce cooling airflow over your sump, which is more looks over function. But Defenders are really about function over looks. That's why you won't see these kinds of mods on Defenders that do spend much of their time, actually working off road for real.
I like to keep my Landies factory original, although I have gas flowed the head on my 300 TDI, for efficiency. It is a new head so why not. The castings are quite rough internally so port and polish I have.
But I love the farmy look. My Landy's are still used to work, even my 1974 S3 88" still oves a romp in my woodland with my chainsaw lol

I actually prefer my 2.2 engine over the 2.4, plus it had a higher speed limit. I find the 2.4 a lot more sluggish but compared to my TD5 they are both great to drive on the motorway, way more refined.

Concentrate on the road, not on a f'king screen. Not a good combination at all. I am just under 6' and do not have any issues with leg room or arm room etc. I have a small steering wheel fitted but don't have any problems with roll, ride or anything, maybe it's just me but the defender for me is great. I love it. FFS - cameras!! Get a life man! I have none of the problems mentioned in this video at all. If you want a Jaguar ride then don't buy a Landy.

Your info is a bit wrong... windows on the back of the sides is a tdci only thing, ALL hardtops before then has the rear side windows. It's most likely a 2012 too as 2013 would have been a 2.2, VIN will tell. ps, the indicators in the halo as well as the proper indicators makes it non complliant to Road Traffic Lighting Act. No one cares though.

The reason everyone does the work on their own Landys is because they used to pay people to do the work for them, week in week out, because they always break! People do the work themselves because they don't want to be lumbered with labour bills every month!

In fairness, you do not have to do your own repairs or maintainance. Having driven them since 1963 in the 🪂 Reg. I have seen the abuse they can take. After leaving Army I bought an old 11A did it up and drove to India, back when you could fairly safely. I have had one every year since, current td5 for 14 years. I now do not do much on it I put it locally to Simon Skene Autocare who is a 1st. Class mechanic and he keeps it really well for me. ISTILL LOVE LAND ROVERS even though I no longer do much work on them!! 😂😂✌️🪂🫡
