The digital key works with iOS 15.6 now. It didn’t work before, but now works. If it doesn’t work, try to delete Lexus App on iPhone and reinstall it. Works perfectly, I’m just waiting for the wireless charging update for iPhone 13+ now…..
Good to know that it works for you. Maybe the recent updates they did fix something or the security fix Apple just released made a difference. I may try later and see if it works or not. The problem is the software is just not consistent.
I am driving my NX450h+ in Europe, with a different software (Lexus Link), with less features than you in NA (no Digital Key here, for example). However, the fewer features that we have on this side of the pond don't seem to work better than yours! I have spent hours just to understand what I now see as a bug related to turning on remotely the air conditioning and the driver profile loading (a priori, 2 functions without correlation, but I figured out that there is one!). Also, the trips and the localisation of the car are not transmitted systematically to the app (via the DCM, I suppose), and when not transmitted once, they are never afterwards, making the app's driving statistics and the vehicle localisation unuseable... Professionally, I am also managing software engineering in a software company, and I recognize myself in your final comment 100%... Lexus, you know how to build cars of excellence, for example, the NX450h+ offers an outstanding driving experience. But it it urgent that you upgrade your software skills to bring them at the same level, not only in NA, but worldwide! Software is your Achilles' heel!
Not having the traditional gearbox, what do you have to do to use the engine brake when descending the mountain? Can you describe the correct procedure? Do you have to activate some particular key?
You shift to "S" mode. You use the paddle shifters to change the 6 levels of accelerating force and engine braking force. The lower the shift range (eg S1, the greater accelerating force and engine braking force). The higher the shift range, the engine rpms will also increase. I have never used it myself as I don't live in that many descending mountains and the regen braking on the 450h+ will regen the battery and slow down the vehicle even when descending down a hill.
You don’t have to, this is a hybrid vehicle, even under normal conditions you would rarely use your brake pads if you don’t brake too hard thanks to the presence of regenerative braking that charges the hybrid battery🎉🎉. In fact this is the same logic behind some super heavy building-tall mining trucks, re-gen braking being a major source of braking power. You can feel a subtle change on the brake paddle when it switch from re-gen braking to brake rotors at low speed.
Hi LSFT, I've gone back again over your fantastic videos. Earlier today I took my dog to the park in my Lexus. Shortly after I received a notification that my drivers side rear window was open. Is it possibly to close the window remotely either with the App or the key? (I couldn't find a way but thought you might know?) Thanks again Mike
I have an android phone and my digital key works perfectly actually. Have you tried enabling all the Lexus app permissions? I realized that the location service has to be enabled by the app and allowed to be used all the time in the background.
Everything is enabled. Which Android phone do you have? I think it's also related to the phone itself. It works for me, but it slow in recognizing that my phone is outside the car and what puzzle me is the biometric unlock to start the car.
@@lsft My phone is Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I don't even have to take the phone out of my pocket or unlock it. As soon as I get close to the car and touch the door handle the car unlocks.
Yup. Different phone has different behaviour. I can unlock the door with the phone in my pocket. But to start the car, I need to put my fingerprint for it to work. If you see in my video I had to put my finger on the fingerprint reader before it can start the car. Very odd.
My girlfriend just bought a 2023 lincoln Corsair two weeks ago, and her digital key is free for life, that is if she decides to keep the vehicle forever
Hi LSFT, from the most recent OTA’s does your digital key now work consistently? BTW, just love your content, it’s so interesting and informative. Please keep going.
I have tried the digital key and it was working. But my wife did not like it because it works too far away. If I hold my phone 2-3 meters away from the car, someone else can unlock the car by hand. It's not secure if you are inside a restaurant and the car is parked too close to you and another person can unlock your car.
It works, but it sometimes won't let me lock it because it thinks my phone is still in the car. If your phone has strong Bluetooth signals, it will have signal within the car. And then the car will think it's beside the door. Having to use my fingerprint to start the car on my phone is not convenient at all.
When I picked up my car at the end of July digital key was half working. I was able to start the car but, I had to keep the app and my iPhone open. Later, digital key to start my car stopped working all alone. By the way, I don’t have my car now to check but, I think digital key is only to start the car. All other buttons in the app like open doors, lights etc. should work fine even without downloading the key. On software dev, you re right, Lexus is major thumbs down.
@@GenaMak the digital key let's you unlock the door and lock... It's half working and a delay. If i wait a few minutes it will let me lock. It's crazy.
Ty. I was wondering why the notice of new key registered. It was the digital key. You are correct you can’t start the car with the phone inside with the digital key.
The notice will show up for 10 days and the no longer show. You can start it if your phone is unlocked, just a bit annoying, but understand it would be better and secure.
@@CamRanhKid2 The app needs to be in the background and phone needs to be unlocked. It's not very stable and reliable. I have seen cases where the app will pop up my biometric and then the car starts. Not a very seamless experience.
Would you if I can connect card key with my profile. Every time I enter the car it won’t recognize me. If I was the last one to use the car, it’s fine but if my wife drove the car and it will put me on guest mode.
Sometimes it won't recognize me. I noticed if I jump in quickly and start the car and go, it won't recognize that fast. It then needs a infotainment reboot, by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. Typically it can recognize me - it feels like it needs time for the key/phone to connect.
As of today June13, 2023, I am still having difficulty connecting to the digital key with my Android phone. My wife is thinking about buying another Lexus as she is still using her Lexus RX 400. But knowing the issues I'm having with the digital key and media connection, she's not so sure about Lexus anymore. BTW, Lexus still doesn't provide the fast charge 220V adaptor. So buying the fast charge option is waste of money. Lexus really need to do better.
Which market are you in? The digital key seems to work better with iPhones. Did you check the compatibility of your phone? Lexus only provides the 120V base charger (but it can take 240 V) if you have the right plug - but you should check the part number to ensure it can support 240V. The 6.6kW is not a waste of money as it will work well if you are using a public charger. You rather be there 2.5 hrs and not 5 hours. If you are at home, 120V = 12 hrs, or 240V (3.3) = 5 hrs, 240V (6.6) = 2.5 hrs shouldn't matter as much. They never said that they would offer the 240V EVSE? Things will get better with the connection, what phone are you using?
I'm surprised you as a tech specialist would provide similar feedback on the Digital Key. I feel bad for you when you have to answer questions about it. The Lexus App is better, but still needs lots of work to get up to today's standards.
@@lsft it was a bit tough as we didn't have any official training. Lexus Canada provided us material but nothing beats hands-on learning. The feature you are saying is remote start. You remote start your vehicle and as you mentioned that the car shuts off as soon as you unlock the car. This is actually changed in the new NX. The car will not stop after remote starting in the new NX. The digital key is not remote starting, but more of using the bluetooth connection to authorize the locking/unlocking of the car and starting it. Similar to the key fob. But it's possible that some smart phone hardware is not compatible with the Lexus.
