I can't even imagine what that must feel like...just sit back and realize that each individual car has its own story...its own character. I can't even imagine the pain that the cars, and the owners went thru. it tears me apart...knowing that when they where set in that yard...each one had a second, third, and fourth chance to live again...imagine being born in the 30's- the 60's with your life in the balance...and I feel that abandonment...so horriblely sad...
The owner of this car cemetery is called Franz Messerli. He runs a car scrap company. That's probably how the cars got on each other as they use to do this on car scrap places...
this car cemetery is as real as it can get. though the state government is making pressure to close it down for environment reasons. there's no decision been made yet. there's also a business for older car parts but that counts not for the very classic part of this area which is in the pics here. the owner wants to keep it complete for historic reasons and doesn't sell parts from the oldtimers.
Beautiful video and I even likd that song. I never knew that there used to be so many American cars in Switzerland! I used to own a Caprice Classic '78 that was made in Michgan but sent full load to Friebourg. Last I heard it was now rolling in Quebec city.
I've just updated the video description today as follows: Update: The cemetery is closed, most of the cars have been auctioned and sold. So this place is history now...
thanks for that info,at least some of them wil get back on the road i hope...your so lucky to have such awsome cars in your contry ....hope to own one,or two someday!i just love american muscle cars....
Excellent video and song, but "car hoarders" piss me off!! Think of how many father son projects some of those cars would make? Instead one dude holds onto hundreds of INCREDIBLE examples of fine American steel and won't sell them. Then they slowly rot away to nothing to the point NOBODY can use them. You win dude, great job!!
Hi! it's so beautiful and horrible to see old ladies dying slowly in the forest.... it 's a real scrap yard where you can buy or a private "collection" ? i love car cemetery it's a beautiful shop for the guy who wants give a second life to an old and forgotten machine i think the simple and all steel made cars are the best in the automobile area.
"Situated in Kaufdorf, Switzerland exists a peaceful junkyard, holding over 500 classic machines hailing from the 1930s through the 1960s. The government wants it paved but locals want to preserve this history. Mega gallery inside. Legend has it a car dealer, buying cars for parts, couldn't bring himself to scrap these beauties and began parking them in his yard. The dealer retired in the 70s, passing the business on to his son, who left the cars untouched" Is it possible to steal a car there ?
They will not start whit a little mechanical work. I think the engine's didn't run for a long time. so the oil will be at the bottom of the engine and all parts above oil level will be rusty
Don't know the history of this yard but what a damn shame whoever owned this cars didn't think to wind up the windows or close the doors once in a while or maybe throw a sheet over the ones without glass. Maybe then there'd have been some restorable classics here rather than just a field full of rusted out parts cars.
shocked to see so much American iron in a Swiss junkyard. REALLY SHOCKED to see an ultra rare 57 PLYMOUTH FURY, (with 58 decklid), in a Swiss junkyard!
Tenho um morris oxford 1952 como o q aparece no vídeo.....é uma tristeza ver a história automobilística mundial apodrecendo......muito triste!!!BERBER from BRAZIL
The cemetery is closed, most of the cars have been auctioned and sold. So this place is history now... Learn read, thank god, that most of the cars have been sold, becouse, some of these cars will get another life.

That 57 Plymouth Fury at 00:37 and 01:14 was purchased, and fully restored! Search "1957 Plymouth Fury Resurrection"
so where can I find cars for purchase?
I am really surprised to see so much vintage American tin in a salvage yard in Switzerland?
Suprising how many of these cars are US built. I didn't think American cars were that popular in Switzerland.
They will not start whit a little mechanical work. I think the engine's didn't run for a long time. so the oil will be at the bottom of the engine and all parts above oil level will be rusty

So much nice cars :(
Why? :(
3:55 Jeep fans would kill for that Willys. These cars should never have been left under this canopy of trees!
each of us car lovers have our responsiblity to not crush, but restore every car we can...so this doesn't happen in every generation...
CH is really Switzerland. Czechoslovakia was CS, now are there two states, Czech Republic - CZ , and Slovak Republik - SK. I know it, because I am from Czechoslovakia, now Czech Republic.

eu chorei... eu juro que chorei... ainda estou corando um pouco... e se eu ver esse video de novo vou chorar ainda mais:(
You have to wonder if people watching this video actually can find or see an old car that they recognize from the past...
A trans am, dodge, VW beetle. Such good cars just left to rust away. Makes me sad.

all that cars are not forgotten, they bring money.
that car at 0:38 is crying! lol
Most will likely be scrapped... I would rather see them rust in peace if they aren't resurrected.
