  • I'm using Logic for these tutorials, but they work the same for any DAW. In this video we look at 'bubble' Keyboard/organ pattern creation, plus a free EXS melodica you can download. (dancetech.com/file-library/SAM...)

    I usually just play the chords for the human feel even if they are not in tune or just use the transposition midi tool and then go through tightening it up. But with your tutorials it’s brilliant for those little details and licks which is what makes Jah music so wonderful. Thank you and bless up brethren

    I like it, bubble organ does a lot and lifts everything. It's easy to implement with that copying. The swing c was a lot, about a 32 note. When it goes back to straight after it sounds a bit stiff so there should be some swing in there. The organ is one of the good instruments in Logic. If you're not happy with the sound you can adjust it as you would the real thing and it's cheaper. Nice video.

      dancetech If you can, make the 1 bar project downloadable if it can open in 9 with UB and EVB3. For bass I use the standard Analog Basic, it gives different timbres with simple velocity changes. I'd like to drag up a swing between 16 B & C. Just a request.

    • @dancetech
      @dancetech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think it's the Logic kits bell brass snare with a lot of dampening & tight compression

    • @dancetech

      couldn't open it? maybe i need to upload a later logic version, but older projects should load in any further version of logic. The melodica samples should be included in the package though. You can drag/drop them into the edit window of exs24.

    BIG thanks for your amazing series of reggae/dub tutorials! Definitely have given me a boost forward in my early days of production. So grateful man. I downloaded the melodica file. I am able to open it and programming in the original project. Once I saved it and attempted to open it in one of my projects, I was unable to do so. Upon loading it, I was alerted that the exs24 instrument "melodica.exs" was not found. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

    • @dancetech

    Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all these tutorials!.
    I started messing around with Logic a couple of months before your first reggae tutorial and you've really helped so much. You are an excellent teacher!
    Was wondering what reggae band you used to play with?
    Oh another thank you for the melodica!
    Also any tips on making a decent reggae bass synth? Been looking through the presets but nothing really hits the spot. After a JA style warm sounding bass.

    • @dancetech
      @dancetech  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bangabeez bass synth? is that for dancehall? cos for trad' reggae i always use a real bass or a real bass software instrument

    • @bangabeez
      @bangabeez 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dancetech I was thinking of labels such as jammys, xterminator, music works etc. two friends etc. The early digital roots riddims. Bass was played on keyboards like Yamaha DX100, Casio CS01. Big fan of 80s and 90s JA roots and would like basslines similar to them.

    • @dancetech
      @dancetech  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +bangabeez Well early 80's favourite is CasioTone like the MT40 (sleng teng). We used a dx100 & a cz101 in one studio but they dont sound cheap/crappy enough tbh. For stuff like that bass sound used on say nuff respect by lady g it's a square wave bass - basically you want simple square & triangle wave basses which you should be able to get in Logic's ESM or ESP or similar
