This is this guy called the plugtech or tech plug something like that. But he buys refurbished iPhones in bulk and test them for quality with his own team and resells them at pretty decent prices. I used to work for Amazon and lemme just say no quality control.
I’ve been using this refurbished iPhone 8 from Amazon for the past 4 years. I wanted another iPhone 6 but couldn’t find any. The 8 is the newest one I’ve used, there are way too many phones and getting a new one every year is ridiculous
Yeah it does become ridiculous. I will say though that you’re in for a big upgrade whenever you decide to. The removal of the home button and addition of FaceID was pretty much what made me switch to iPhone full time.

Sounds to me like this was either Amazon or the refurbisher sending out the wrong product. You ordered a good, sounds like they sent out an acceptable, or maybe even this was a return that got accidentally sent to you. IOW I suspect this was a shipping error and not a deliberate scam. But you are right, buying refurbished is kind of Hit or Miss. Amazon usually gives you 90 days to return or exchange it, which is 3 times longer than back market and others. I've gotten several dogs from refurbishers which I had to send back. OTOH I just bought a 13 mini from back market and it is undistinguishable from a new product. No signs of use whatsoever, 100% battery health 512Gb, $500. Hit or miss...
I got a 14 Pro from Amazon Renewed, and it came with a fake 60hz screen that would burn the pixels that show the time when the always-on display is on. You’re better off getting a used phone imo

So when you order and make sure which one you choosing should be exactly the way you choose , I bought alots renewed saved hundreds of dollars and all of them came out great, but I never choose any items electronics or not less than the Excellent

The good news with this route is that you have assurance of a good return. Otherwise I’ve had luck being picky with eBay listings or finding one locally on Marketplace.

I was just curious because I just ordered a renewed premium iPhone 13 mini and it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. I have the choice to keep my 15 pro max or go back to a smaller 13 mini, as my return window from Apple is only till the 28th of March… so I don’t have long to decide which one to keep.
I got a regular premium renewed (not excellent) and it turned out to be terrible condition so I sent it back. Ended up sticking with my 15 Pro because I was getting sick with the PWM on the 13 Mini. I like the 15 Pro quite a lot. Not as small as the mini, but the little extras make the trade off worth it.
Why amazon have so many mini and Apple refurbished don’t have any on their website? And if they have it’s only one, only black and only 512gb? Why Apple doesn’t want people to have mini? 😢

Yes definitely watch out for that. Make sure there are free returns. But the refunds can take a month or two to come back also.
i got a phone from them once and i had poo on it ( i think) and it was still broken with a cracked screen and back. I had to get it returned, very sad
