The doctrine of island hopping it quite literally invade the weaker islands you can reach and force them to retreat from the heavily fortified ones then just kinda walk in
I did this once and had to fight a puppeted China that was now a major in the war and my enemy, prolonging it for years due to horrible supply and full with japanese troops.
I'd like to see Japan Paratroopers. Imamura starts off with the Paradrop supply ability ready and the present light tanks can be used as airborne LT. Biggest goal is stealing all the railroads from China before it has a chance to establish entrenchment
Honestly, should be seen as a feature. The US Navy ran massive exercises through the 30s where they learned all the skills they’d need for WW2 in the pacific.
Fun fact about the artillery IMO, The Rock Island Arsenal is a current military base island at the center of the Mississippi River, at the time, it was the largest Artillery producer in the world!!! Its really cool to see my small town in such a big game, the Arsenal is now a top producer of ammunition, very cool!! (Which is also why the support Rock Island focus gave you an artillery research bonus :)
Tbh I know about RIA solely because their collaboration with Forgotten Weapons on topic of historical firearm collection. But given that I'm from Belarus and that's one of the few places in US I know about, I'd say they're pretty famous.
I think the requirements are that the NATO decision appears after a certain date and that the Soviet Union is still alive, tho it does get funk at times so 🤷🏽♂️
If they make marines taking navy XP they need to change something for the navy. With nearly every nation except US you can't get enough navy XP to do doctrines and ships. Like Italy, Japan, Ger etc. now marines also navy xp is not good if they dont adjust it.
A lot of people forget the Marines are part of the Navy and there's a reason the US holds multiple positions within the largest armies, navies, and airforce XD
They are part of the Department of the Navy for funding reasons but besides that are fully independent of the Navy's command structure. The Navy has sought to consume the USMC several times but has lost to Congress each time because the USMC consistantly proves to be the most dollar cost effective branch of the DoD, partially because the Navy fucks us on our funding since they have a lot of say with regards to the naval budget. But the Commadant can tell the tell the Chief of the Navy to pound sand if they tried to order the Commadant or their Marines around. So they are largely independent outside of which pot Congress puts the money in. Only the Chairman, Sec Def, or the Executive branch can order the Marines aound, not some Admiral (assuming they are not the Chairman). You won't find a Marine Camp anywhere that has a Naval officer if their chain of command unless they are the Chairman, so I hard disagreee with the oversimplification that the Marines are part of the Navy, though they are part of the Dapartment of the Navy. Side note, the U.S. is not always the largest for each of it's branches but is always the most powerful for each because of the technological advances and budget.
'Marine' is actually the word for navy in many languages (think Kriegsmarine). It comes from the latin word marinus which means 'of the sea'. Think English is the odd one out on this one.
5:34 kinda wish this was for rocket artillery too. And if it would be too powerful to stack them just make it so it only counts for one of them and second doesn’t give bonus
Maybe try Germany and build only Military factorys (special bonus from the mefo bills) and use the market to trade the equipment for civilian factory output.
So they gave America another Tool to be even more OP? How great! Also I will stop buying DLCs if they keep adding stuff that one has to manage without giving us QoL that makes the old stuff easier first
Is no one going to talk about how they added major city victory points to Japan, and most importantly, the Soviet Union? This could finally the fix for advancing past the Urals, provided you can't do a collab government
Did Iceland have a focus tree in the dlc because that could be interesting. Don’t know what you would do with it but I’ve seen no other person talk about it.
It does have a focus tree. At 16:15 you can clearly see it has unique national spirits and a unique focus name. I also noticed in both this video and the other videos regarding the multiplayer game featuring the DLC, Iceland requested American protection. However, no one has said anything about it. The devs probably wanted to keep it under wraps. Too late now I guess😅
Who island hops with 40+ widths? Without signal companies you get reinforce meme'd on 30 combat width tiles. Also, use shore bombardment and air to nuke their defensive stats so you can reinforce meme them instead. I'm not an expert on amphibious mech/tanks but if HP is a problem you can use amtracs right? Also, are amtracs worth it? They nuke your organization compared to marines with all doctrines/research. (Pre DLC special forces at max org have 100 org without support companies and other battalions) High organization is also very useful when taking Islands full with divisions as the org allows you to fight longer and thus your CAS can do more damage. I guess amphibious tanks with 4km/h and high armor are not that bad.
Why not see if big paratrooper divisions are worthwhile ? I mean many just use 1 stick para for cheesing victory point or seizing port. Of all the special forces, mountaineers are probably the most useful in a fight. Marines are nice to have and paras are garbage 90% of the time.
You want to really exploit the special forces cap? Train a ton of one battalion cav divisions, deploy them asap, design a 50w division and turn equipment off, and then switch all the one battalion divisions over. It maximizes your special forces cap and only really costs you manpower. I had a US game where I was able to field a couple army groups with nothing but marines, tanks, and paratroopers.
The Jungel vs Naval invade decision is not a good one. I think they should rather have two types of pioneers than one for jungel the other one for amphibious, if at all. But this decision feels like a no brainer to basically in nearly every scenario go with the amphibious tree.
Indeed, but than it's a nobrainer decision you are either in the asian jungles or not. For that reason that decision does not make sense to me as it is super obvious what to pick in which situation. For that reason adding this via 2 different pioneer companies would fit better and think about a different trade of that could be made. For example having a decision between bonuses over Rivers vs Naval Invasions that would actually constitude a tough decision.@@Zack_Wester
@@einruberhardt5497 the thing whit the Jungle tile is that a lot of terrain that maybe should be jungle is not flagged as Jungle but forrest. like 90% of the Pacific island that at least should have a jungle tag. They'd be brilliant for distractions before naval landings. Make them pull off to farthwr south then hit the ports before the horde turns around again
As a US Navy Seabee that plays HOI4, I appreciate the brief recognition at 2:34
Dave, The Japanese will sink the Panay when they occupy Shandong and it doesnt even have to be fully occupied it just has to be the city of Jinan.

The Iwo Jimo situation is why I build my marine divisions smaller in size. At least that reduces the reinforce meming.
I could easily be wrong but did the NATO decision not show because the UK is still the faction leader for the Allies? Just a thought.
Unless they purposefully locked it to only show for the leader. From my understanding any nation can do the Treaty of Brussels and NATO decisions.
