Raven vs Twilight was my least favorite episode, I truly believe is one of my worst animation on the show. You might be able to hear a bit of my anger show in the commentary when I said something along the lines of "lets not do MLP ever again" which I think was very unfair for me to say. I really hope we get to do a MLP episode again to remove the after taste that animation left on me. People enjoying Jack vs Afro as much as they do literally makes me emotional dude. I put my heart and soul into that episode, the ending was extremely clear to me since before the fight started to the point where I literally made the ending first before even the beginning of the fight. I don't think I'll ever be able to top Afro vs Jack as a solo episode... but maybe I should give it a try at some point.
The effort you put into Jack Vs Afro really shows. There are arguments to be made that it’s straight up the best episode of all time, and it bleeds more passion and love than just about everything else the show has ever done. Best of luck if you were to try another episode in that style, just don’t overwork yourself.
I kinda like Raven vs Twilight, mostly because my favorite Teen Titan gets on, but yeah it’s not great. At most, it’s eh. Most of my complaints are from the downplay on both sides. Like, I’ve heard both can get pretty op. I still like the analysis at times and the startup and voice acting is good.
I agree with your take on Carnage vs Lucy over Nem’s. I always interpreted it as Lucy doing everything in her power to prevent Carnage from getting in a single clean hit that could kill her. Despite her getting in a ton of hits, it almost felt like Carnage was dictating the flow of the fight most of the time with how unhinged he was.
Maybe that was what was intended but it did not show very well in the animation imo. Carnage vs Lucy was one of the few eps I gave a 0/10 and one of my least favorites overall given how badly that concept was executed.
As someone who’s a big Spider-Man fan and especially a fan of Venom and the symbiotes growing up, that’s exactly how I envisioned the fight going and for the most part I think it was handled well. I think Carnage should’ve gotten the chance to get in a little bit more closer and have Lucy be a bit more winded around the fight’s end to make the tension more genuine but otherwise I loved it, cuz the fight depended on whether or not Carnage could get in close, and if he could, it was game over. Plus to this day, Carnage vs Lucy is ironically the best horror themed episode of the series for me because…well it genuinely got kind of creepy (and It makes Jason vs Michael all the more disappointing in hindsight)
I’m so glad someone finally mentioned Sonic feeling weirdly incompetent during the rematch. The multiple swings near the end and having Mario stop his punches by holding his face felt so weird to me.
Honestly, given how much Mario fans were talking about Mario being able to use Cappy to posses Sonic, i was kinda expecting a scene where Mario would try this only for Sonic to be able to resist his control and take advantage of the brief opening. Heck, they actually bring up in Sonic's rundown that he can resist that kind of stuff so that made it even more jarring that they never took advantage of that to me.
They actually were planning on that and talked about it in a community death battle episode. They said it was a toss up between doing a cappy scene or the lucky bell and double cherry scene. I believe they chose the latter because it offered for more choreography (or at least more things happening on screen), but you can decide if it was worth it or not. I'm indifferent to it personally.
@@rodrigomorales563 Huh, that certainly explains why they bring up Sonic's resistance to possesion and mind control despite never taking advantage of it in the fight. I can understand the choice, but the execution falls very flat to me due to it only ending up with a montage of Sonic getting bodied in a way that comes off as really dumb due to Sonic having plenty of time to use his superspeed to prepare to do anything and very out of character due to him basically giving up for a while. If a Cappy scene got to show off Sonic's determination and strenght of will thanks to his resistance to possesion and mind control then i probably would have gladly taken it over that one scene that is probably my least favorite out of any fight in season 5.
I think it would be cool to have Mario throw his cap and try to capture Sonic, but then Sonic just picks up the cap and tosses it in a casual way which ejects Mario from it, only to then have Mario possess a t Rex.
@@turbobist2889 That would have been a cool interaction that takes advantage of a new power Mario gained since the original while also feeling pretty fitting for Sonic.
Carnage vs Lucy was the episode that surprised me the most based on my own personal enjoyment. Chorus of Carnage slaps so hard and it might just be the best instrumental track of the show to me.
Honestly I think I stand by Ultron vs Sigma having some of the best dialogue in the show. All the lines are great and sometimes chilling, and the voice actors sell every line phenomenally. Really happy my most wanted (at the time) got such a banger episode
"It's raining. You're bleeding. CARNAGE IS STARVING!" It's probably one of my favorite lines in the series. Shows Carnage's insanity and sheer tenacity.
I just discovered this little review series and was binging it from the beginning. So when I couldn’t find the season 6 review and noticed this video was uploaded a couple hours ago, my day has been ruined
Samurai Jack VS Afro Samurai is definitely one of my favorite Death Battle episodes of all time the hand drawn animation is some of the best I've ever seen and its surprising that it took a couple years for something to even come close to topping it. I still remember my first time watching the episode and being blown away with the animation and the action, and the death is still burned into my memory the first time I saw it when Jack lost his arm I actually thought to myself its over Jack's dead, but then it pans to Afro who lost both arms and I legit gasped in shock and the voice actors really sell how impactful this was plus ending it with Jack with the headband with the inclusion of the Samurai Jack theme was just the icing on the cake. Seriously words can't describe how much I love this episode and it even got me to watch Samurai Jack and it quickly became one of my favorite cartoons of all time, again this is probably my favorite Death Battle that features a cartoon character and I would actually put it slightly below Spongebob VS Aquaman because I like that one slightly more, but believe me its close.
Yk I find it super funny that you say “please respectfully disagree with me on episodes I don’t like instead of blindly agreeing with me” and the immediately shitting on Black Panther vs Batman which is actually one of my favorite of the series 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Say whatever you want about Thanos vs Darkseid. But you have to admit Darkseid blocking the power of infinity with his face and WINNING is raw as fuck.
16. Yeah. It is really eh. It's a really underwhelming finale, all things considered. 15. I went back to this one a couple of times. I find myself weirdly enjoying it, despite the subpar quality. Maybe it's something about actually giving Batman Kevin Conroy's voice clips (RIP) that made it more fun to watch than his previous episodes. 14. It's their first step into live-action, and I think they did alright, all things considered. 13. I remember how everyone got spoiled because the track leaked early. Also a pretty ass episode too (how tf is the Jotaro sprite more blurry than his OMM and DBX appearances). 12. I still don't understand why this was an episode. A lot of my friends who follow MLP also say it's pretty lame. 11. It's a fun episode, but why is there so much physical combat and less spell slinging for Marvel and DC's iconic sorcerer doctors. 10. I barely rewatch this one, but it was fine. 9. This was the most boring one for me. But the phenomenal vocal performances for the two brings it up a lot. 8. This one was pretty boring too. And I'm upset Crash didn't say "WHOA" when he died. 7. This episode didn't need to bang as much as it did, but I am glad they showed my man Jiraiya the respect her deserved. 6. A very underrated episode, and I'm glad you put it in the upper half, only barely missing out on the Top 5. 5. There are issues, yeah, but the animation visual quality and Wings of Iron bump it up ridiculously high. This one is my actual personal favorite of the season, solely due to Wings of Iron, ngl. 4. It being a Marvel vs Capcom episode is a huge draw in for. And somehow getting Chris Tergliafera to reprise his role from MVCI is great. I like this one a lot (it was weirdly hated upon release). 3. The episode awoke so many buried memories when I randomly found Elfen Lied when I was younger. Now that I was old enough to actually understand the context, it heavily bumped up the episode for me. I really love this episode, but my favorite part is the setting. The atmosphere and choreography is phenomenal. 2. Ryu's one of my favorite characters of all time, and vs Jin was one of my most wanted (at the time). This one was an absolute banger of an episode. I can't believe it's canon to RWBY too. I think my only complaint is that I think they should've used the Japanese voice clips for both of them, to imitate how Tekken has characters speak their mother tongue (fun fact, Jin's English VA also does Light Yagami). 1. I can't believe one of the best episodes of all time came from Luis being drunk.
i get what you mean about the leon vs frank kill, but it really couldnt have ended any other way. killing the final boss with an rpg is a staple in resident evil, itd be weird to not have that
I heard from another death battle TH-camr (I think StormsOfLight) that he liked Thanos' death because Thanos is someone who wants to die in a grand way, so it is a terrible way for him to be put down with a gun. Not trying to change anyone's mind about the death (in fact, I also don't like it), just wanted to hear Biff's thoughts on it.
That's a fair take on it, but that still doesn't really make it any better for me. It doesn't fix the tensionless build up or the continuation of Deadpool being the most annoying part of anything this season.
Season 5 definitely was interesting, given it still felt like they were picking things back up again after Season 4. Glad they were able to pick up by the second half though, even with a less than impressive finale. Also glad to see Jack vs Afro get all the more praise. Cannot wait for Ben vs Hal to SWEEP the season 6 ranking.
I hate to be that guy, especially since this ranking video was really damn good, but that wasn't Gerald as Sigma, it was Chris Tergliafera. The Supreme Overlord of Ice name and the hamsters wiki is a reference to his most popular character Gundham Tanaka from Danganronpa 2, and he voices Sigma in MvC Infinite. Fantastic video all around! I didn't even realize that's why Darkseid's lasers weren't hitting Thanos. Why he felt the need to get rid of glass shards after no selling a whole building is beyond me. Man I really over-hyped this season back in the day, but that's just hindsight for ya. I still really appreciate season 5 for all the new standards it set, paving the way for even better and more consistent seasons to come!
I guess it shows that I’ve never played a Mega Man X game. I’ve just heard them getting Sigma’s VA as the biggest talking point of that episode since it released, then googled his voice actor and assumed the first name to show up was the only one he’s had. That’s my bad.
@@BiffWeed That's understandable. That and I assume you haven't played Danganronpa 2, which would also add to confusion. Honestly it's a pretty similar situation to Silver, where they got the official VA, just not the one most people associate with the character.
I guess I’m in the minority but I love Raven vs Twilight. It’s my definitive guilty pleasure. As a mlp fan, I think Boomstick’s attitude is very funny and understandable for his character. It makes the actually powerful and even kinda cool elements of the character so much more memorable. Would’ve been so much less memorable if they just full took the princess of friendship unicorn seriously from the start. I think the fight is really fun and cool too. Twilights characterization, while minor, was perfect (“not the books!!” is one of the funniest lines of the show for me). The focus on emotions working into the battle with each of their abilities changing due to their opponents manipulation is really neat. I liked that it wasn’t just mindless battling with the dynamic changing naturally. Plus I thought the death was cool with a fake out that legit got me and had an amazing impact. I’ve always loved it, don’t understand why so many hate it
Here’s the thing about the Thanos death. I actually like it. Sure it’s not a great death in a vacuum (haha he got shot) but actually think about it. The first death Thanos gets, in a series of deaths that he probably knows will forever escalate in terribleness, is watching the character that literally made him rewrite reality just to make sure he wouldn’t die and cuck him, and probably the most annoying character in the entire universe to him, in genera, hamming it up to a 20 while making out aggressively with the woman he’s been chasing the whole time and the entire reason he became the gauntlet wielding powerhouse, before he gets killed by a completely ordinary bullet that didn’t even hit anything vital fired by said most annoying character in his life. ALL WHILE SITTING ON HIS CHAIR! HE IS THE ONE THAT SITS!! Imagine going through that and knowing that things are only going to keep going downhill for all eternity, with basically 0 chance for you to escape, or it being even worse because you don’t know it’s only going to get worse. That would be terrifying beyond belief. There’s probably at least 50 more DP related deaths awaiting him, and considering how genuinely terrifying DP can be sometimes, those would not be fun to go through. I’m not going to pretend I care about the episode as a whole, but that death deserves way more credit than it gets.
Honestly, a major problem I had with Mario VS Sonic 2 was that it the two just meet each other, making them fighting over a chair more jarring. In the original, it’s implied that the two knew each other and were truly fighting to settle their rivalry. There was also Mario looking left and right to make sure no one took his seat… even though it’s clearly they were in a DESERTED ISLAND. It should have had the two in a more populated beach area where it was crowded and there were multiple seats that Sonic would keep stealing until Mario finally loses patience. - Mario was very out of character, which I couldn’t agree more. But the bigger problem was again, they just didn’t know each other. I would’ve had maybe the Sonic recognizing Mario and wanting to spar for each other to show how far they’ve improved from their newer adventures.
Idk if not being jolly is too ooc considering there's also games where he's usually serious like smash or one of the deceased rpg series Also I wouldn't say he was checking to see if anyone was taking his seat considering his expression had no suspicion but rather taking in the view
@@SufferingSuccotash a bit late to respond sorry. I never said Mario is never serious, he definitely can be, but the setup still didn’t really do much with making the reason these two characters that mean we’ll feel right… right. Again, the setup being a minor inconvenience for Character A fiasco is what bothered me; Mario can be angry, but not that suddenly. I also don’t think he was taking in the view, though now I think about it, I’m not sure what he could’ve been doing.
I’ve said it on the comments of the episode itself, but Frank Vs Leon plays out like a Resident Evil boss and Dead Rising boss, with how Leon just shows up seemingly out of nowhere and attacks Frank with little warning like how most psychopath fights in Dead Rising go, and Frank has multiple “forms” that escalate in power and spectacle as the fight goes on…..and how Frank’s final “form” was both mostly stationary and finished with a rocket launcher like most Resident Evil final bosses. Not 100% sure if that was intentional by the animation team, but if it was, that’s some nice attention to detail
17:52 Well yeah because It’s death battle. Their obviously not gonna put both characters at their absolute best stats in the episode because one it would take to long. And 2: They do it to make the match up seem more believable and closer to a casual audience. But in this case it did the exact opposite and made this seem like the biggest stomp in DB History by their own logic. But behind the scenes they know exactly how powerful these characters are. The reason they said it’s close is because based on their own research (the parts that weren’t in the episode) makes it clear that it is The reason Ben said it’s a 49/51 difference is because in actuality and what they actually believe for the characters it’s: - Immeasurable to Immeasurable - Complex Multi To complex multi (probably higher but whatever God or deity you scale them to they should be around even). And in Fact the only True advantage Fate has that actually gave him the win that they believe is the fact that he’s just better experienced and can just do more with his magic. Like having slightly better counters and more win cons through spells and ways to kill Strange, That’s really all that tipped the scales for them to give him the win behind the scenes. They just made it sound like the gap is so much more in the episode so people wouldn’t diss agree with it if they thought that the actual only reasons Fate wins isn’t enough So yeah. Through their own research behind the scenes and not just counting what was said in the episode. This is a really fucking close Match up. 49/51 honestly makes sense here That’s all I wanted to say, just to clear up some confusion never seen within the community
Honestly my biggest complaint with afro samurai vs samurai jack isn't even with the fight itself. It's that the song that came out a day or two earlier included the samurai jack outro bit and totally spoiled the fight so... much like your aspect ratio complaint needing to reach that much goes to show how much of a masterpiece the episode is.
Man, Jack Vs Afro is such a timeless gem! Ryu vs Jin was also amazing but nothing this season could come close to that matchup. There were still some other great episodes in here such as Master Roshi vs Jiraya, Mario vs Sonic, Optimus prime Vs Gundam, and Sora vs Pit. Though, this season is a bit forgettable (mostly the first half and the finale). Though, Nightwing and Daredevil had a pretty good fight ngl.
I have a major disagreement with your ranking of Nightwing Vs Daredevil. I will say, I absolutely love the Daredevil show so bias, but anyways I think you sold it extremely short. The fight is very reminiscent of the Daredevil show, while being admittedly not as good but that’s a high bar. I LOVE how they threw in the live action curveball for this fight. It has to be considered that this is their first live action fight. And Daredevil is a very appropriate character to use for it. Their abilities and interactions are great. It’s one of those episodes where it felt very satisfying to be able to guess the winner from the analysis. I also think it shows Nightwing’s arsenal and tactics well, being how he has to multitask fighting and analyzing Daredevil to find the proper gadget in his arsenal. I will give you one thing tho, the death is pretty weak. I definitely would’ve preferred a more creative kill while Daredevil is stunned, perhaps Nightwing using something on the environment, or even picking up a a projectile he already used off the ground that failed previously. Lastly, I think they really sold the fact that they are street tier. It’s a very grounded fight and I love that they show them getting tired. I appreciate the realism in street level fights. All in all, it’s probably my favorite Marvel Vs DC fight if the season. I’d give it a high 6 low 7 personally.
The best part about Sonic vs Mario 2 is the fact that Wiz has transmutation hax for Wiz vs Boomstick in which they can both get a hax tie for turning each other inanimate. Also Wiz has time freeze, soooooooo... Wiz dub?
I honestly like Sora vs Pit a lot more than most people but that might just be my bias towards Kid Icarus Uprising and hearing them talk about the fun characters, and I wouldn’t mind them doing a 2nd episode if they can make a interesting or funny analysis, best character after Pit getting on would probably be Pittwo (Dark Pit) and I’d like to see him against Lillith from Darkstalkers
9:34 Well personally I and a lot of other people thought it was pretty bad ass. Like yes they went gonna actually break his arm. But I personally didn’t find it looking dumb and depending on your stand point it can actually look believable. I’ve actually seen quite a few people think that they actually broke his arm in this scene just to have him snap it back it place for real to make it look more believable because they think it is… Like that’s not what happened. But It just goes to show that this scene actully has something to interesting in it for at least some people Like I will respect your right to have an opinion, I’m just personally giving you my own and saying that I disagree and actually enjoyed that scene
Thanos vs Darkseid is an example of an episode where my bias towards the matchup makes me like it more most. It was my most wanted for awhile and I popped off when it was announced. The episode does have a lot of flaws that are pretty annoying especially recently since my bias has started to wear down like the MCU references and Deadpool but things in the animation like Thanos altering reality, Darkseid headbutting the Infinity Gauntlet and Darkseid expanding Thanos’ black hole, growing out of it and then crushing it make it so I can’t dislike the episode overall. Its not as good as I used to think but I still enjoy it a lot
Thanos VS Darkseid's ass but that "You first." and black hole bits is still raw to me. One of my favourite moments of the show. I do agree with the result though, it's certainly believable that Thanos had the ABILITY to develop a gun that could overload the Anti-Life Equation. But even if he could, he never would wield it in the first place, thanks to his rejection of all firearms. EDIT: Ok wanna say something. I can totally understand disliking an outright annoying episode over one that is kinda boring, but to be honest I find Black Panther VS. Batman worse for being so dull. At Thanos VS. Darkseid had some really cool stuff in the fight and made me feel emotions, even if most of those emotions are negative. This isn't something I can say about Batman Round 3. That being said Jotaro VS. Kenshiro is my least favourite because I like FOTNS and wished it got a good episode, please Raoh get a good episode, a returning Akuma or Yujiro I don't care.
The deciding factor to me really was the episode length. If Batman Vs Panther was 10 minutes longer and stayed on the same level of quality I probably would’ve put it in last. As it is now though, weighing which I prefer between an episode being boring or terrible depends on the execution of the latter. I’d cut Thanos vs Darkseid some slack there if it were at least funny bad to me but I was just kind of annoyed for the entire analysis.
One definite issue I have with Mario Vs Sonic is that I don’t think the conclusion is really portrayed in the actual fight. The two seem to fully counter one another, rather than Mario’s overwhelming arsenal being able to counter Sonic’s much stronger forms.
fun fact about the Optimus wheel kick, that wasn't an original idea it was from the fight between Optimus and Megatron in transformers prime season 1 episode 23 "One Shall Fall" where he did that very thing to Megatron
I personally like Strange vs Fate solely because of the analysis for both, the great soundtrack in the fight, the music choices in the analysis, and near the end except the death. The voice acting is decent and the helmet line from Fate is probably my favorite of the episode. But even I admit it had a hell of a lot of missed potential. It’s personally in my top 5 DB episodes solely because of the analysis, track, and parts of the fight.
I liked raven v twilight mostly for the brutality novelty. It’s always fun to see kids media (real kids media, not zim or samurai jack) fight to the death, and thanos v darkseid I didn’t remember the analysis. I just skip straight to the fight, which is cool. Their zoom out was supposed to be reality crushing or something I think, but like the weird deer in Broly, it detracts by the random meteor. Broly sells reality destruction much better. Frank is awesome, Grabbed by the Ghoulies Cooper or Ashley West were my preferred, but honestly it worked.
Honestly if it wasn’t for how kind of bad the post analysis was and how Carnage doesn’t do much, I would’ve given Carnage vs Lucy a WAY bigger score. The animation had so much going for it but it was kind of badly executed in my opinion. Have Carnage while still not getting so much hit, make it feel more impactful and quick while Lucy is visibly shown trying to keep up with him, raising the stakes even further as Carnage would only really need one good hit. Though yeah, even though it doesn’t really pass a very low 7/10 for me, I still kinda feel like it’s harsh to give that episode a very low score because of that. Also, someone actually gives credit where it’s due to the pre analysis, nice!
Honestly, the only thing justifying Black Panther VS Batman's existence at this point is the people that watch the episode to honor Chadwick Boseman and Kevin Conroy.
Hot take: If death battle makes rematches of episodes that already happened twice, the first one should be Mario vs Sonic 3. Mario vs Sonic 2 was such a disappointment that I could sit down right now and write a better episode. However if they do it they need to wait like 3-5 years to do it
I had a similar situation to Mario vs sonic 2 I used to love it, but overtime I realized how dirty they did my boi Mario, i really hope he gets another episode where he’s treated right somedya
Sonic was treated pretty poorly as well. Not only is he portrait as an incompitent fighter that gets bodied for most of the fight but his characterisation feels very off at points as well. It's very jarring to see him getting so angry over something as simple as being knocked out of a chair and basically giving up and letting his opponent beat him up for a while is both a dumb thing to do for a character whose best known power is his superspeed and very out of character from someone whose home series puts frequent emphasis on his never give up attitude (basically imagine if Ichigo would have done the same thing at the end of his fight with Naruto instead of grabbing that stick to try to fight back, it really is that out of character for Sonic to give up that easilly).
That one last Death Race with him… doing the most disgustingly out of character ever makes me nervous, though. I’m not so negative that I think Mario shouldn’t come back, but still, I can only hope too.
Im not sure I agree on the take of “no more symbiotes”. Maybe just in the case of Carnage but Venom on the other hand I still want him to get one last shot since the king in black stuff happened literally like a few weeks after his second episode and cosmic tier symbiote shit is actually a lot cooler than one would think and would lead to a lot of awesome moments if animated (and also given some proper lighting which the king in black comic actually made it work despite there being a shroud of symbiotes literally blotting out the stars). Plus not to mention I still want at least one episode where Venom is properly characterized as both two separate entities and being a full on anti hero instead of either being like Carnage or being a bad ripoff of himself from the 90’s cartoon.
I am of the belief that characters shouldn't get a second episode unless there's an interesting enough different route you can go down with them their first episode wasn't able to cover, and then once they get their runback that should be it for them. Venom is the kind of character that warranted coming back but I don't think there's any way they could get me to care about his third appearance.
@@BiffWeed fair enough. This is just matter of personal preference regarding the character in question after all (even though admittedly my stance just stems from Venom coming back too soon after a giant cosmic level event for him was just around the corner at the time, if it was like a season later then I probably would’ve had my fill of symbiotes on the show too)
Don't expect that one for at least a few months. I've set myself the goal of getting at least 4 more non-DB videos out before I even start on the season 9 ranking
Haven't finished the video yet but this pertains to something you mentioned early on for Thanos vs Darksied. There have been points where you or Nem's opinion's have swayed me but only because you make a good argument, not because rando on YT I like said it. For example, Rebecca Black vs Justin Beiber, when it came out I loved it because I was one of those kids who hated those two for no reason so it was like "Ha ha, dumb singer kids killing each other" or something like that then I kind of forgot about it when I grew up. Your review of it made me realize it was not just bland but actually very awful but its not herd mentality, you made a good point and I was already at a point where I was confused why I hated Justin Beiber so much. You just made a good point so it swayed me. As for Thanos vs Darksied, I forget my original view but now I just find it meh, part of it is the MCU reliance, I hate when the movies overtake the discussion of a COMIC BOOK character (like Miles' analysis) but I also don't like it because I don't think True Form Darksied can just spawn new Avatars into a universe or bring someone to him. When he died in the main DC Comic universe he had to have an actual host body prepared for him to possess yet in the Death Battle he just comes back right away? As far as I am aware, gods in the DC universe are all multiversal beings that have avatars in each of the multiverse and this includes the New Gods, if Darksied can just respawn infinetly then what was the issue when all the New Gods were being killed off? Like, in Final Crisis I think they find Orion's body and its like a big deal that he is dead..like who cares if he can just respawn? So yeah, Darkseid just coming back doesn't seem accurate at all, I assume Thanos would just have to kill one Avatar of Darksied to win since they can't be respawned and I don't know how Thanos would get to True Form Darksied so that bugs me though the fact that they constantly use the snap is also annoying. He did that once as a show of power to show how effortlessly he could wipe away half the universe, that action isn't required to use the gauntlet so why is he snapping so much? Oh right...cuz MCU. Your thoughts didn't reverse my opinion on this episode, at most you just give me more negatives to think about, otherwise you pretty much felt the same as me on it before I watched this video.
To be fair there are legitimate reasons to hate Justin Beiber because by all accounts he's a terrible person. Rebecca Black seems like a perfectly nice person who just had no business having a music career.
Mario vs Sonic is probably the biggest let down for me. Mario’s one of my favorite characters ever and Mario vs Sonic is an iconic matchup that deserves to be done well, and while the episode still is great, I can’t help but feel like it could’ve been better. I have the same issues with how Mario was portrayed, and just how they skip through a lot of power ups they could’ve used and the fact that independent sprite animators are able to do better with that is kind of embarrassing. The climax is still great though. Hopefully when Mario inevitably comes back to fight Kirby or Mickey(hopefully the latter), we’ll get a better episode with him, because it seems like Mario episodes are a very consistent hit or miss streak. Also Mario is voiced by the guy who voiced Sephiroth in Seph vs Vergil which I think is hilarious. PS: Nightwing vs Daredevil holds a special place in my heart due to Nightwing being my favorite DC character.
I love how versatile voice actors can be. I do some voice acting myself and I'm always amazed by what some of the people I work with can do. (Obligatory shill, check out Studio Still's game dubs!)
In the middle of watching it rn, I wish crashs death was comedic tbh, especially with how he dies in his games. Maybe they could’ve pulled one of them out for Spyro to do, that would’ve been a lot better honestly but as it stands I do love crash vs Spyro, one of my favorites this season. I’ll give my full ranking in a bit
Thanos vs Darkseid being least favorite is so based. I don't really think a lot of people in the community loved it given that the common consensus I've seen about it was "wow so much missed potential." That ep was my most wanted ever since season 1 of the show and it being this bad is still the biggest disappointment I've ever had with the show.
Honestly idk why but I don't find BP vs Batman as bad as I've seen most say. Maybe it's just because I like seeing BP, maybe it's because he won, maybe it's Maybelline, but idk how to put it in words beyond just "I like it". Ain't like my favorite in the season or close to it though lol
Hey biff, I wanted to rewatch you review for Deku vs Asta and I noticed that it wasn’t on your channel anymore. Was this due to something like copyright or decide to take it down to repurpose it for your eventual season 9 ranking video? Love the season rankings remastered videos so far, keep up the great work!
I dunno how you’d rewatch something that I never uploaded in the first place. I wrote it out but I still haven’t gotten around to recording and editing, I’ve been busy with other things. I’ll get to it in January
@@BiffWeed wait, you didn’t post it, I could have sworn I saw it. You know what, now that I think about it, I think I might have mistaken it for Nem’s video, sorry about that.
The fact they didn’t use super sonic is so weird- he could hold it for a few days and just didn’t use it- also they said they’re using the games for information then immediately uses a feat Mario had in a comic. Just editing as I forgot to say- it’s not all bads though, the two voice actors are incredible voice acting and the best bit by far is the personality’s of the characters are absolutely incredible- I could believe that’s official va’s if I didn’t know it’s from death battle
36:20 I'm an avid transformers fan and I liked Optimus's representation in the video. Sure it wasn't a G1 Optimus but when it comes down to a fight to the death it makes sense as to why they went for bayverse/TFP in terms of personality as they are both more than fine with putting someone down if they have to. Prime instigating the fight also makes sense when you realize Amaro basically broke into his house and prime most likely wanted to incapacitate him at first until Amaro destroyed the arc. The arc's destruction was the linchpin in making Prime want to put Amaro six feet under as even G1 Optimus was gonna put down Megatron in the 1986 movie after Meg's and the cons slaughtered a bunch of the autobots when they invaded autobot city (HAD THE DUMBASS NAMED HOTROD NOT INTERVENED). You can tell prime has stopped holding back when the fight continues on earth as prime is pulling out some moves that are 100% precent trying to kill him unlike earlier when it could be argued he was just trying to incapacitate the gundam rather than kill it. I also found his voice to be good but it obviously could use some work but its honestly better than the fucking tik-toker they got to voice prime in War for Cybertron (2020)/Earthrise/Kingdom. Whilst Prime did react when the arc blew up (you can hear him saying "no...NOOO") I do feel it should've been louder to convey a sense of rage in prime that he is finally gonna cut loose and kill that some bitch. Oh and Amaro was good I guess (I could give a rats ass about gundam. I haven't watched it nor do I plan to watch it any time soon) Overall I really liked the episode and whilst it ain't perfect I'd still give it a 9/10 over transformers getting the respect it fucking deserves at that DISASTER of an episode called "Starsrceam vs Rainbow Dash"
Here's my ranking: 16: Thanos vs Darkseid 15: Nightwing vs Daredevil 14: Batman vs Black Panther 13: Jotaro Kujo vs Kenshiro 12: Lucy vs Carnage 11: Raven vs Twilight Sparkle 10: Doctor Strange vs Doctor Fate 9: Sora vs Pit 8: Crash Bandicoot vs Spyro the Dragon 7: Leon Kennedy vs Frank West 6: Master Roshi vs Jiriya 5: Mario vs Sonic (Rematch) 4: Ryu vs Jin Kazama 3: Ultron vs Sigma 2: Optimus Prime vs Gundam RX-78-2 1: Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai
I kinda disagree about Carnage vs Lucy. I get that Lucy was preventing Carnage from landing a hit on her, but the animation could have shown some struggle. It looks like a stomp, but it’s nowhere near the stomp animation that Shadow vs Mewtwo is.
I heard that Daredevils death supposed to be nightwing punched him so hard his neck snapped, and like how you said the dislocation of daredevils arm would not be sellable without actually doing it, the same applies for the neck snap, but it’s still a slightly bad death
I think the jack vs afro aspect ratio is meant to be a reference to Jack's own show and it's aspect ratio changes, I've stayed up nights as a kid watching shows on cartoon network and I've seen that kinda effect and ratio in shows like robotboy and powerpuff girls before. so it never bothered me
I do think Carnage coming on the show again could work, as he's gotten new powers that could be interesting choreography-wise. He can steal the powers of metahumans, has Water Manipulation due to already having done this to Hydro-Man, Portal Creation due to having done this to The Spot, can have the Carnage Symbiote possess several hosts at once to act as "Offshoots" of himself.
Why is jiraiya vs roshi so high, the winner was obvious and even then the stuff in the fight made no sense like how roshi needed mafuba to attack the toad, and how would it even work on gamabunta anyway? The way the fight ends is dumb too
As a fan of both JoJo’s and Fist of the North Star, yeah no Jotaro vs Kenshiro is just bad. In fact, being a fan of both made me view this episode in a worse light on a rewatch.
16. Raven vs Twilight Sparkle is one of the most bland episodes in the whole series. It's not bad, but I felt basically nothing throughout the whole episode. At least with Batman vs Black Panther I at least love both Batman and Black Panther, while I couldn't give less of a fuck about My Little Pony. Definitely one of the franchises in Death Battle that I care the least about along with a certain other this season. So the analysis was aggressively average, and the fight was as well honestly. It's not bad, but it's mostly just white noise and nothing really stands out. Definitely one of the most forgettable episodes in the series and the fact that it's the best MLP episode is sad. 5/10 15. Batman vs Black Panther is up there with Nathan vs Lara as one of the most bland premieres in the series. It used to be my favorite sprite episode in the series when it first came out, but this was back when I had Venom vs Bane as a 10/10. The analysis is very bland and uninteresting and the fight isn't any better. The action feels very slow and stiff a lot of the time and it's just really basic all throughout. The scene where they stop to fight zoo animals also breaks the pace of the already kinda slow and uninteresting fight, but at least the death was good. Overall this episode was the one that fell from grace the most for me. I used to love it, even when I rewatched it in 2020, but now I find it really boring. Batman only really needed to come back for Batman vs Ironman honestly, his other two were not necessary. 5/10 14. Jotaro vs Kenshiro is pretty average, but it's better than those last two. The analysis was kinda boring, but the animation was alright. It's nothing amazing, but I still kinda liked it. It has a lot more going on than Batman vs Black Panther for instance, and the death was pretty good. But overall the choreography really wasn't anything special and comparing to the other two JoJo episodes wouldn't do it any favors. It definitely seemed like they got the most boring episodes out of the first in this season, but this one wasn't bad. This episode could've gotten a 6/10 half out of pity and half because the fight was actually okay, but the analysis was so bland that it's getting a 5.5/10. 13. Carnage vs Lucy is a really weird one for me. On one hand I really enjoyed hearing about Carnage and I thought the fight was pretty freaking great, but on the other I just couldn't stand Lucy's analysis. It's not really Death Battle's fault, they tried their best with the subject matter, but I just didn't enjoy hearing about Elfen Lied and all the weird, shocking stuff that goes on in that series at all, I can definitely see why my boy Nemesis is so opposed to it. I know Carnage vs Darth Maul is a terrible matchup, but I honestly think I would've enjoyed that more since I like Darth Maul and I usually enjoy seeing Star Wars on when it isn't a crappy season 1 episode. As for the fight itself, its great like I said before. I don't really agree with Nemesis when he says that the fight is a boring spite match and I felt like the fight had a really good dynamic despite the potentially bad premise of one character standing around and not getting damaged a whole lot. The atmosphere was absolutely immaculate as well and Carnage's voice is amazing. The death is pretty bad, but overall the fight is super solid. It's a shame that Lucy's analysis let the episode down so much for me, but it is what it is. Whenever I watch this episode again, I'll probably just skip that half of the analysis because it just isn't fun to watch in the slightest and it made the overall episode something that I'm not a massive fan of. 6.5/10 12. Spyro vs Crash Bandicoot is pretty good. I know it may seem weird that it's this low, but I still liked it just fine. The analysis was good, although the autism tangent was really weird. The fight however is decent. The choreography isn't that great and the fight can be pretty low energy sometimes, but it's still entertaining and far more enjoyable than everything that came before it. Visually the fight looks fantastic and there's still some cool stuff in the fight. But if I want a really good Crash vs Spyro fight, I think the Rewind Rumble is much better than this. Overall this episode is fun, but nothing that special. 6.5/10 11. Sora vs Pit is a good episode. The analysis was fine and the fight was actually pretty good. It's decently fast paced, it has a lot going on compared to Spyro vs Crash or Jotaro vs Kenshiro, it's just really good overall. The death was really underwhelming unfortunately and even though I don't really have a ton to say about this episode, I still enjoyed it. 7/10. Kinda funny how all the first episodes are in last place, this season definitely gets better as it goes along. 10. Roshi vs Jiraiya is alright, but pretty overrated. The analysis and fight were both pretty good though. The fight can be a bit hard to follow, but its still fun despite the really weak death. Two years later this is still the episode of season 5 that I have the least to say about, but at least its gone up from a 6/10 to a 7/10 9. Doctor Strange vs Doctor Fate is good, but it has a lot of problems. The analysis was solid and the fight was enjoyable, but not perfect. The start was really solid. Fate got a really fast paced beatdown on Strange and we get to see the two using a bunch of magic, but then they start traveling to different dimensions and the fight kinda goes downhill. Them going to Mos Eisley Cantina and all that is cool, but they don't really do anything and all the action is just them kinda shoving each other around. It just isn't that interesting. Luckily the ending is pretty neat. We get a really neat choice of setting on the giant dragon and even though they mostly just kinda stand around. Fate going Super Saiyan and creating the omnigender is visually really cool. The death is a bit weird, but overall this episode was better than I remember. It used to be one of my all-time favorites, then I stopped liking it, and now I'd give it a solid 7/10.
8. Nightwing vs Daredevil is a really overhated episode, but its still got some pretty big issues. The analysis wasn't that bad, but it was still kinda bland. Nightwing's was really nothing special, and although Daredevil's was a bit more enjoyable for me, neither of them were that great. What really stands out about this episode though is the fight. Seeing a live action Death Battle was absolutely surreal at the time and even though Winter Soldier vs Red Hood took away a lot of the impact for being so much better, I still thought this fight was pretty great. The choreography is really solid all throughout even though it doesn't live up to the absolute masterpiece that the other live action fight was, however, what really sucked about this fight was the death. It's literally just a punch to the face with no impact, absolutely lame. I still really like this episode overall, but its definitely flawed. 7.5/10 7. Leon Kennedy vs Frank West was really damn good. The analysis was great and I really enjoyed learning about such unique series for Death Battle. Definitely more interesting than the typical comic book or anime analyses. The fight is also really good. The animation looks great, the action is really fun, and even though the track goes hard at the end, the death itself was disappointing. I still really enjoyed it overall. They even one-up Batman vs Black Panther by having an actually good scene where they stop to fight enemies. Overall this episode definitely kept the season's uphill spiral in quality going strong. 8/10 6. Mario vs Sonic 2018 isn't nearly as good as I remember, but its still a super fun episode. The analysis was pretty good and the introduction of the animated Wiz and Boomstick avatars was a really nice addition. The fight meanwhile could've done a lot more, but what we got was still great and honestly way better than the original. Even though it doesn't use as many powerups, this fight is so much more entertaining and visually it looks amazing. Sometimes it can feel a bit too much like a Racist Mario skit, but the action was still really fun and fast paced all throughout. The ending with Hyper Sonic and Power Star Mario especially was great along with the shot of them destroying the moon. The death itself is amazing and definitely stands out in this absolutely dire season when it comes to the deaths. Overall this episode definitely isn't one of the greatest of all time, but its still a great time and I'll never understand how anyone could enjoy the original more, as that one is slow, boring, and the animation looks like its from a Cartoon Fight Club Ultimate Showdown episode. 8/10 5. Optimus Prime vs The Gundam is an amazing episode. The analysis is solid and all, but what really stands out about this episode is the fight. As the first 3D fight with the new team at the time, it was a really great one to start with. The action all throughout was a ton of fun and it really picks up towards the end as Optimus absolutely goes ham on the Gundam in hand to hand combat. What really makes this episode truly amazing though is the track. Wings of Iron is one of the greatest Death Battle tracks of all time and it elevated this already great fight to an absolute classic of this season. 8.5/10 4. Thanos vs Darkseid is hands-down the most overhated episode in the series for me. Ever since Nemesis's finale ranking, I noticed a massive bandwagon that this episode is horrible, but I honestly don't understand why. The jokes weren't great, but I didn't find them that bad aside from that pointless Nomad of Nowhere bit, and overall I still really enjoyed the analysis. As for the fight, I will never understand how people think this is bad. The fight is just an absolute blast from the start to when they destroy the universe (We'll get there!). Even though it could've gone further, I feel like people pay way too much attention to what we didn't get instead of appreciating what we got, and I think this episode honestly did a lot more compared to others like Strange vs Fate or Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna. We get a really cool scene of them warping the city and even though it is a bit small scale, the fight in the city is still a ton of fun and honestly does way more for me than Fate and Strange shoving each other into the April O'Neil Dimension. Then the fight goes cosmic and I know a lot of people hate that it goes from city to solar system too fast, but I feel like that's a bit of a nitpick and it didn't really bother me. The fight itself one-ups Green Lantern vs Ben 10 and Wally vs Archie Sonic by actually having them destroy planets and its really cool to watch them throwing planets at each other, turning stars into black holes, and especially Thanos throwing the entire solar system at Darkseid as they grow big and have a fist fight in space. Up to this point I was absolutely loving the fight, but then it starts petering out after they destroy the universe, and then we get the one of the lamest kills in the whole series! My least favorite part of this episode by far was Deadpool. He didn't need to be here at all, he's rather annoying, and he gave this episode a super disappointing death. We could've gotten something insane with the Omega Sanction, but instead it's just an unfunny reference to the comics. If this episode had a better ending then it could've gotten that 10/10, but despite what everyone else says, I would give this episode a low, but still solid 9/10. #ThanosvsDarkseidSweep! Goomba vs Koopa is not better than this you frickin dingbat! 3. Ultron vs Sigma has been one of my favorite episodes for years, even back when I was a simp for Rewind. The analysis was great and the fight is one of my personal favorite sprite battles. Its really fast paced, fluid, and has a really cool kaiju fight at the end too. I know I said the death was weak in my old bad ranking, but the death was one of the better in this season. However my favorite thing about this episode was the track. Infection Perfection is one of the best Death Battle tracks of all time and its the main thing getting this already fantastic episode up to a 9.5/10! 2. Ryu vs Jin is incredible! This has been one of my favorites episodes ever since it came out and revisiting it was a great experience. The analysis was really enjoyable, but what really stands out is the fight. This is one of Torrian's absolute best in almost every way. The animation looks amazing, the choreography is absolutely on-point, and overall it's just an amazing fight from start to finish. The fight between Devil Jin and Devil Ryu on the falling boulder especially was just perfect! The death was kinda underwhelming, but it's still not enough to ruin the fight for me. It's not quite my favorite of the season anymore, but it's still at least a top 20 episode for me. 10/10! 1. Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai deserves all the praise it gets! Pretty much everything about this episode is amazing. The analysis is fantastic and definitely one of my favorites in the series, and the animation is just perfect! Luis's hand-drawn art style looks amazing and makes for one of the best fight animations in the whole series. All the action is super well-choreographed and the track fits the fight perfectly. The death especially is one of my absolute favorites in the series with my all-time favorite one-stroke duel. This episode is just so good that not only did I watch it a couple weeks early, but I also watched the whole thing again when properly going through the season. Although we can't agree on Thanos vs Darkseid, at least we can agree on this episode being an easy 10/10!
Looking back, I'd completely rearrange numbers 13-9. I rewatched Doctor Fate vs Doctor Strange and liked it a lot less due to how bad the choreography was for the last two thirds so I'd drop it's score to a 6/10 and move it to number 13. Roshi vs Jiraiya would be at number 12 since it's objectively good but as time has gone on I've started to realize that I didn't really connect with anything in the episode since it's not exactly a matchup that appeals to me, I'd also drop it to a 6/10 but it's definitely more interesting than Strange vs Fate. Sora vs Pit would be keep it's same placement but I'd drop it to a 6/10 since I don't really have any strong motivation to rewatch it. Carnage vs Lucy would move up to number 10 since it's easily the best episode I've given a 6/10 even if it has the most agonizing analysis segment in the entire show for me. Spyro vs Crash is the only one that I would give a 7/10 since it's the only one that I feel like I could regularly go back to and not feel like I could be watching something better. Leon vs Frank is also better than Mario vs Sonic 2018, which is possibly the weakest Death Battle that I gave an 8/10 along with Batman vs Spider-Man.
Discord fighting your favorite villain of all time. Well, guess I can guess which 2d fight you're voting for, assuming you have the membership. (It is one of 3 of the 2d options I want to see, along with Ori vs The Knight and Simon vs Kyle.) If you can vote, what are you planning to vote for 3d? Also, the Supreme Overlord of Ice link leading to hamsters HAS to be a Daganronpa reference and that's golden.
I voted Fall Guys vs Amogus over Bill vs Discord. I want Larry's efforts with that animation to have that payoff. For the 3D poll I voted Spy vs 47, TF2 needs a good episode
Pardon if this has been asked before, but have you posted your opinions anywhere on the match-ups proposed for the Champions poll? Like, which ones ypou want most or have no interest in
I'd say the biggest thing i disagree with is Jack vs Affro had no potential I knew it'd be a hugely good, Samurai Jack is legit one of the most underrated show of all time, and to see the him respected is amazing That and I'd boost up both Mario vs Sonic and Rooshi vs Jiraiya Both of which I'd say were highlights of a good ssn
Doctor Strange actually beats Doctor Fate and can reach Multi just as easily as Fate and similarly, Adam Warlock with the IG teleported Strange to the edge of the universe, then he returned to fight Adam in seconds.
This seasonhad some major disappointments for me unfortunately., as it had 3 of my most wanted fights. I love Darkseid, so I’m sad that the music for their fight didn’t fit at all, among other issues. Jotaro is one of my favorite characters, so I’m sad the Ora Ora clash didn’t have as much impact as it should have. And Strange/Fate is one of my top most wanted matchups ever, so I was a bit dissatisfied with the quality and amount of magic used in the fight. That being said I still like strange/fate, and I don’t really go back to the other two. Anyway, Greta video, I love these season rankings
I disagree with Jotaro vs Kenshiro's placement, as someone who watched the old DBX (One Minute Melee), my expectation was pretty high for the episode both for the analysis and the fight so, personally, it was really disappointing to me the quality dropped like that. I'd bump it down to 3/10.
Apologies if this has been asked already but will there be a deku vs asta review? Not too bothered if it means the 6 and 7 reviews have as much quality as the rest.
@@BiffWeed Don't worry! I wont actually work on something that huge unless I had at the very VERY least double the amount of time I had
I kinda like Raven vs Twilight, mostly because my favorite Teen Titan gets on, but yeah it’s not great. At most, it’s eh. Most of my complaints are from the downplay on both sides. Like, I’ve heard both can get pretty op. I still like the analysis at times and the startup and voice acting is good.
jack vs afro is goated wear that shit with pride
Yoooo! Someone on the DB team agrees with me about raven vs twilight!
Thing is I might buy that if Lucy had to damge herself at all to keep him off or if she showed any symptoms of being tired or trying at all
@@mari2099.
If that's a zero out of ten then a shit ton more episodes must have negative scores
Yeah but having Lucy start to melt even a little bit would have helped a lot
I like how Batman shuts his eyes when he fires the tranquilizer guns
Chorus of Carnage slaps so hard and it might just be the best instrumental track of the show to me.
cringe
Honestly I think I stand by Ultron vs Sigma having some of the best dialogue in the show. All the lines are great and sometimes chilling, and the voice actors sell every line phenomenally. Really happy my most wanted (at the time) got such a banger episode
I completely agree with you, eachtime one of those two talk, it give me chills, because they are just so cool.
Based

@@maxlolbits2182 No I think it's Mizuki from AI.
"It's raining. You're bleeding.
CARNAGE IS STARVING!"
It's probably one of my favorite lines in the series. Shows Carnage's insanity and sheer tenacity.
Surprised you didn’t bring up Doctor Fate using the power of the I N F I N I T E G E N D E R
Well, he did bring it up in previous videos of his.
I just discovered this little review series and was binging it from the beginning. So when I couldn’t find the season 6 review and noticed this video was uploaded a couple hours ago, my day has been ruined
For carnage’s death, I think it would have been cool if the explosion punch took out the symbiote, but have Lucy spread Cassidy to pieces
Thanos uses more reality warping on Deadpool than on Darkseid, let that sink in
We’re already at season 5. Damn, I know these have been in development for a long time but wow, You work fast
I respect that
Wait, Jin vs Ryu is canon to RWBY??
Please tell me that's a joke-
Biff really went through his own DigitalTy arc in the beginning, didn't he?
i get what you mean about the leon vs frank kill, but it really couldnt have ended any other way. killing the final boss with an rpg is a staple in resident evil, itd be weird to not have that
I heard from another death battle TH-camr (I think StormsOfLight) that he liked Thanos' death because Thanos is someone who wants to die in a grand way, so it is a terrible way for him to be put down with a gun.
Without going back to check, I’m fairly sure Biff’s used the exact same Nostalgia Critic line ever time he talks about Daredevil vs Nightwing
Love these season rankings keep going man!❤🎉
Thanks Biff! You never fail to create enjoyable content.
It’s fine bro we all grow up fast, I still say that season 5 is still good but man they fall down badly after some rewatch.
Hey! I wasn’t the only one who got the Danaganronpa reference. (Danganronpa enjoyer btw)
Honestly, I agree with this. I would honestly thought the episode was pretty good, but hey, I may be pretty uncultured.
You're uploading these in a very quick pace! Good job!!
Idk if not being jolly is too ooc considering there's also games where he's usually serious like smash or one of the deceased rpg series
Also I wouldn't say he was checking to see if anyone was taking his seat considering his expression had no suspicion but rather taking in the view
"Machamp featuring Goro" was fucking hilarious 🤣🤣
17:52 Well yeah because It’s death battle. Their obviously not gonna put both characters at their absolute best stats in the episode because one it would take to long. And 2: They do it to make the match up seem more believable and closer to a casual audience. But in this case it did the exact opposite and made this seem like the biggest stomp in DB History by their own logic.
But behind the scenes they know exactly how powerful these characters are. The reason they said it’s close is because based on their own research (the parts that weren’t in the episode) makes it clear that it is
The reason Ben said it’s a 49/51 difference is because in actuality and what they actually believe for the characters it’s:
- Immeasurable to Immeasurable
- Complex Multi To complex multi
(probably higher but whatever God or deity you scale them to they should be around even). They just made it sound like the gap is so much more in the episode so people wouldn’t diss agree with it if they thought that the actual only reasons Fate wins isn’t enough
So yeah. Through their own research behind the scenes and not just counting what was said in the episode. This is a really fucking close Match up. 49/51 honestly makes sense here
That’s all I wanted to say, just to clear up some confusion never seen within the community
Hell yeah Biff is a carnage vs Lucy enjoyer
Man, Jack Vs Afro is such a timeless gem! Ryu vs Jin was also amazing but nothing this season could come close to that matchup. There were still some other great episodes in here such as Master Roshi vs Jiraya, Mario vs Sonic, Optimus prime Vs Gundam, and Sora vs Pit. Though, this season is a bit forgettable (mostly the first half and the finale). Though, Nightwing and Daredevil had a pretty good fight ngl.
Time for season 5 baby.
This is one of my favorite things once a week. Time to see how this list turns out
43:00 you just convinced me that It wasn't a stomp. I'm convinced
Oh and yeah, Bucky Vs Red Hood is better. And also suffers from weak death syndrome
But It just goes to show that this scene actully has something to interesting in it for at least some people
Like I will respect your right to have an opinion, I’m just personally giving you my own and saying that I disagree and actually enjoyed that scene
Wonderful vid as always
@@BiffWeed Yeah that's fair. Guess I have a weaker tolerance for boring shit.
One definite issue I have with Mario Vs Sonic is that I don’t think the conclusion is really portrayed in the actual fight. The two seem to fully counter one another, rather than Mario’s overwhelming arsenal being able to counter Sonic’s much stronger forms.
Yeah, I do think the original portrays that better since Mario has to use multiple invincibility forms to stall Sonic out
Hyper Sonic should've wiped the floor with Mario, but no instead it's just so obnoxiously bias that it just comes off as spiteful
fun fact about the Optimus wheel kick, that wasn't an original idea it was from the fight between Optimus and Megatron in transformers prime season 1 episode 23 "One Shall Fall" where he did that very thing to Megatron
Small little note, Sora sent Pit down below the clouds using Gravity/Gravira/Graviga, not telekinesis.
Mario in this season
"HEY SONIC, HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING ON THE OTHER SIDE!"
Thanks for releasing this on my birthday
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Thanks
Optimus vs Gundam is easily in my top 10 if not top 5 favorite death battles
RIP, to both of them.
Hot take: If death battle makes rematches of episodes that already happened twice, the first one should be Mario vs Sonic 3. Mario vs Sonic 2 was such a disappointment that I could sit down right now and write a better episode. However if they do it they need to wait like 3-5 years to do it
I had a similar situation to Mario vs sonic 2
I used to love it, but overtime I realized how dirty they did my boi Mario, i really hope he gets another episode where he’s treated right somedya
@@ongfrfr249 I don't even care about the outcome, i just don't like what they did with Sonic as i described above.
This is just matter of personal preference regarding the character in question after all (even though admittedly my stance just stems from Venom coming back too soon after a giant cosmic level event for him was just around the corner at the time, if it was like a season later then I probably would’ve had my fill of symbiotes on the show too)
Thanos vs Darkseid is my second favorite episode after Saitama vs Popeye, but I respect your opinion (begrudgingly)
Can't wait for you to get to season 9. I really want to know what you think of the season as a whole
Don't expect that one for at least a few months. I've set myself the goal of getting at least 4 more non-DB videos out before I even start on the season 9 ranking
@@BiffWeedhey what ever works for you man just don’t over work yourself
@@BiffWeed fair
13:25 love how this aged
For me Thanos vs Darksied atleast has points for the spectacle for what it should be and involving two characters I like.
Rank every Boomstick's Dad joke in the series
In the middle of watching it rn, I wish crashs death was comedic tbh, especially with how he dies in his games. Maybe they could’ve pulled one of them out for Spyro to do, that would’ve been a lot better honestly but as it stands I do love crash vs Spyro, one of my favorites this season. I’ll give my full ranking in a bit
35:28
Ayo what the hell Tord jumpscare
Anyways sorry that just caught me off-guard
Good ranking
15:59 Hello? Is this Pizza Hut? 10/10 Dialogue. Funniest shit I've ever heard.
The 3 episodes during the summer went so hard, awesome
Lucy vs Carnage is my favorite
Because i love Lucy I'm a weeb what can i say lol
Congratulations. You love the most generic anime character ever…
Good for you
The fact they didn’t use super sonic is so weird- he could hold it for a few days and just didn’t use it- also they said they’re using the games for information then immediately uses a feat Mario had in a comic. Just editing as I forgot to say- it’s not all bads though, the two voice actors are incredible voice acting and the best bit by far is the personality’s of the characters are absolutely incredible- I could believe that’s official va’s if I didn’t know it’s from death battle
Leon vs Frank convinced me that Leon should've been in marvel vs capcom with Frank, over Chris.
36:20
I'm an avid transformers fan and I liked Optimus's representation in the video.
I haven't watched it nor do I plan to watch it any time soon)
Overall I really liked the episode and whilst it ain't perfect I'd still give it a 9/10 over transformers getting the respect it fucking deserves at that DISASTER of an episode called "Starsrceam vs Rainbow Dash"
I’m kinda shocked you didn’t mention how badly Batman got bodied in his fight, he just gets dominated
Here's my ranking:
16: Thanos vs Darkseid
15: Nightwing vs Daredevil
14: Batman vs Black Panther
13: Jotaro Kujo vs Kenshiro
12: Lucy vs Carnage
11: Raven vs Twilight Sparkle
10: Doctor Strange vs Doctor Fate
9: Sora vs Pit
8: Crash Bandicoot vs Spyro the Dragon
7: Leon Kennedy vs Frank West
6: Master Roshi vs Jiriya
5: Mario vs Sonic (Rematch)
4: Ryu vs Jin Kazama
3: Ultron vs Sigma
2: Optimus Prime vs Gundam RX-78-2
1: Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai
jotaro vs kenshiro truly is one of the death battles of all time
I kinda disagree about Carnage vs Lucy.
I think the jack vs afro aspect ratio is meant to be a reference to Jack's own show and it's aspect ratio changes, I've stayed up nights as a kid watching shows on cartoon network and I've seen that kinda effect and ratio in shows like robotboy and powerpuff girls before. so it never bothered me
13:12 Will Stetson's English cover of Mixed Nuts as a transition? Based Biff
You like an episode that I hate how dare you!... Now Ill move on with my life by watching the whole video lol 🎉
45:06 *O u c h* ..Well That Hurt
I do think Carnage coming on the show again could work, as he's gotten new powers that could be interesting choreography-wise. He can steal the powers of metahumans, has Water Manipulation due to already having done this to Hydro-Man, Portal Creation due to having done this to The Spot, can have the Carnage Symbiote possess several hosts at once to act as "Offshoots" of himself.
13:20 people who think Twilight won are inhaling the most amount of copium possible
I adore this season, but man so many deaths suck
Why is jiraiya vs roshi so high, the winner was obvious and even then the stuff in the fight made no sense like how roshi needed mafuba to attack the toad, and how would it even work on gamabunta anyway? The way the fight ends is dumb too
19:04 Not the first time Scarlett Witch made Doctor Strange irrelevant.
Two years later this is still the episode of season 5 that I have the least to say about, but at least its gone up from a 6/10 to a 7/10

@@BiffWeed huh, that's actually kinda nice. As for Spy vs 47, that is the second of the 3d fights I want. The first is Kratos vs Asura.
Are you going to do all the retrospectives, then the asta vs deku review?
Pardon if this has been asked before, but have you posted your opinions anywhere on the match-ups proposed for the Champions poll? Like, which ones ypou want most or have no interest in
I talked about them all in a post on my community tab
I'd say the biggest thing i disagree with is
Jack vs Affro had no potential
I knew it'd be a hugely good, Samurai Jack is legit one of the most underrated show of all time, and to see the him respected is amazing
That and I'd boost up both Mario vs Sonic and Rooshi vs Jiraiya
Both of which I'd say were highlights of a good ssn
Anyway, Greta video, I love these season rankings
doctor Strange defeats Doctor Fate
I disagree with Jotaro vs Kenshiro's placement, as someone who watched the old DBX (One Minute Melee), my expectation was pretty high for the episode both for the analysis and the fight so, personally, it was really disappointing to me the quality dropped like that. I'd bump it down to 3/10.
I liked Mario VS Sonic (2018) just because Mario has won
Apologies if this has been asked already but will there be a deku vs asta review? Not too bothered if it means the 6 and 7 reviews have as much quality as the rest.
It’s written out but I’m not expecting to have the time to record and edit until January.
