Thanks Anthony’scustoms for bringing out Toybiz figures and showed how great they were back in the day but still gold today...we don’t get any more figures like these anymore
14:15 I only collect Spider-Man and DareDevil figures, so I'm only getting those. However I can appreciate the level of detail some of these figures have (I have monster venom, and also I have Retro Rhino pre-ordered) so I have a couple from the list.
Makes one kinda wish all of these were kinda niche, like Figma when things were more quality and had more accessories instead of being overcharged because it's the popular anime of the season.
Yeah its ridiculous, I still buy Figma but the prices are kind of egregious. And even though the quality is still great on them they really aren't better than when they used to cost 40$ or so. and nowadays most of them come with like 1 accessory and cost 70-80$ on average. What pains me most is looking around at their website and seeing some of their older releases that cost around 30$ and came with a ton of accessories.
The monster venom was cool, but I only ended up getting Typhoid Mary due to either couldn’t find certain figures or lack of interest in some of them so I only have his leg, so the re-release in Eddie Brock colors I’m very excited for.
GIANT MAN, if I recall, did have the downside of including one of the limbs with a 1-per-case chase figure. So you had really, really bad odds of completing him.
I really wanted Toy Biz to have kept making figures I just always enjoyed their sculpting far more than Hasbro's, because Hasbro feels wayyyyy lazier than Toy Biz Hasbro reuses too much the same bodies and that really bothers me personally. Plus I miss the finger and toe articulation that I doubt we'll ever see again.
Im 41 years old and live in honduras but fortunetly for me i started collecting marvel legends in 2003 when i lived in the united states for 6 months. I have all of the build a figures you chose in your top 10 except for the fing fang foom 😭 (im missing the end hulk and king hulk figures and their pieces) i agree with your choices almost completly and for me there is a nostalgia factor. When you saw these toybiz figures in a walmart it was great to see what the build a figure was plus the comic or poster youd get and even some game cards.
Great job on the video and list, ToyBiz really knew what they were doing when it came to BAF's, you really should try get a Pitt if you can, unlike most of the other characters it is one you will probably never see again and is definitely in the top 10 all time best BAF's. I would like to point out one thing I believe is in error in your video, when you are talking about Dormammu, you mention that he was released again, but technically the BAF is the re-released version from 2016. The original version came with the 2015 SDCC Book of Vishanti set. It isn't a huge deal but I have a feeling there are some people that have the SDCC version that feel the BAF should never have been released, and many others who are glad it was so they could own such an awesome figure. Anyway keep up the good work.
I know it’s not technically a marvel legends build a figure but the pitt baf figure is awesome. I personally feel like the sentinel figure should be number one. Thank you for the review.
Great list! Toy Biz was truly the ultimate gift to Marvel fans, and far ahead of its time! M.O.D.O.K was such a crazy/release back in the day. Speaking of Gambit, please let me get a second chance at those head sculpts. I was out of country, and your work is amazing!
Yeah, I expected good old Sentinel to be N°1 but Fing Fang Foom is awesome too. As for the Venom repaint/re-release, I think it's a pass. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful mold but I don't think it works for an Eddie Brock Venom. Also, there's no accesories. No alternate head, no fists, no tendrills, nothing. The funny thing is that the new repaints/re-releases like Outback Hulk and Red Hulk are bigger than Venom and they have accesories. Outback Hulk has 2 heads, 2 open hands and 2 fists hands. Why did they add nore accesories to him instead of Venom? For these reasons, I think the new Venom is unnecessary and a bit lazy.
What about Galactus? I went through my old toys from when I was younger and I have all the Galactus BAF except like 2. Should I complete it after all these years or is the final product not very good?
I've always both loved and hated the concept of Build-A-Figures; on the one hand, it's cool being able to build a whole new action figure by collecting other action figures, but on the other hand a lot of the time you end up getting those waves where the BAF itself is really cool, but the figures required to build it are just incredibly lackluster. It really depends.
Great list, though 2 things surprised me... the first was FFF coming out on top... personally I've always felt that even when Hasbro was swinging and missing on their regular releases, their BAFs were always done well, and FFF still stands as their crowning achievement... but most times I see YT reviewers put together one of these lists, the TB Sentinel usually is the king of the hill... even though I adore that Sentinel (I put together 3 of them) its nice to see FFF get his due... that thing is awesome! The 2nd thing that surprised me was that Arnim Zola didn't make the cut, even as an honorable mention... I get it that he's not exactly covered in paint detail, but the sculpt and his overall look is damn near perfect, he looks like he stepped right out of a comic panel... but again, Ant, great list, keep up the awesome work!
This is a hot take, but I think Hasbro should drop the BAF business model for Marvel Legends and follow something similar to Power Rangers Lightning collection where each individual figure comes with a decent amount of accessories and make the larger figures different size/price classes (similar to Transformers). Over the years I’ve felt that whatever budget that goes into the BAF could be better used to make the individual figures more appealing and worth the price. And while I do agree a good Build-a-Figure can sell a wave full of duds, you still bought figures you didn’t want in the first place (at best you could sell them online, but you won’t get the same amount you paid for it). I know I’m in the minority on this one, but it’s a concept that’s been going through my head for almost a year now. Let me know what you guys think.
Great list, I think what we can take from this is that the older BAF's are better than current ones ? I think maybe only Venom has come out in the last 3 years ?? I'm sure somebody can and will correct me lol
My issue with that Apocalypse, which is why I never completed him, is on perfect display in this video: The two color variants. It was hard enough to find all the parts, let alone the right color ones. The Sentinel is both the first BAF I completed, and the best in my opinion. Walking into a Wal-Mart and buying the full set in one shot was simultaneously the dumbest and smartest thing I ever did. And the best non-Marvel Legends BAF is definitely Pitt from Toy Biz's tragically short-lived Comic Book Legends line (mostly all Image stuff)
I’m definitely a little late to the video but I completely agree with almost everything you said. I’d always prefer the sentinel over any build a figure but to each it’s own. It’s heart breaking that what we think are great figures now don’t even compare to what we’ve gotten before BAF wise and honestly even regular figure wise. Hasbro has come a long way I’ll give them that but its just not the same. Take face off CAP for example... so much heart went into that figure... I believe that we as the collectors are what ultimately decide what hasbro puts out! We let them continue with sometimes half assed figs because we buy anyways
I'm excited for the new venom baf.. the black and blue paint with the traditional colours suits this mould very well..if only it came with extra pair of hands would have been perfect
I have giANT man, Sentinel, Fingfangfoom, Galactus, and black variant Apocalypse BAF. Fun fact not all black variant apocalypse comes with the arm tubes, most of them only have the right or left side.
I have to agree about the detail and designs of the older figures. Especially Toy Biz. Now they did have a couple 💩terds💩,but they also had some really detailed and quality gems💎! For me the Doctor Octopus🐙 from Toy Biz series VIII is my #1 favorite figure. Also I really liked the Toy Biz Nightcrawler from the Galactus BAF wave and the Professor X is not too shabby either. These figures not only had amazing details, but they had stands/bases, some that you could nail to the wall. My Daredevil for example has a base that had stained glass. It looks really unique and made for a great addition to the shelf. Hasbro isn't bad, by no means. They have a few gems too. I really like the attention Toy Biz gave their Legends line back then. Diamond Select also had some incredible accessory work, stands/bases as well. But the scale and the articulation or lack of articulation drops them a lot.
You know what Anthony?!!! I've been trying to avoid these BAF figures but you're right, for a collector they are unavoidable. Even though I've been collecting action figures since 1983, I even bought some original Toy Biz back in the day, I only started to collect Marvel Legends seriously in the summer of 2019 so the new Juggernaut version from the two pack is the only one I have and he wasn't even in your list. I'm going after some of those BAF figures, I already have the other Apocalypse version (I'm happy with it), Venom is going to be rereleased and I rather have the other Onslaught version. The ones I want are Modok, Giant-Man, Mojo, Blob, Rhino and Fin Fang Foom, even though I agree that the Sentinel is a good action figure, that isn't the look I want for that character. The problem is the prices in the aftermarket are way above what I think is a fair price for figures of this quality and rarity so I may even commit an act of what I consider to be sacrilege in collecting action figures and buy a KO Fin Fang Foom unless I end up finding an original at a reasonable price. Nice top 10, I agree with Anthony when he says that it's easy to notice the love put into designing, painting, sculpting and engineering every one of these action figures, I also think Hasbro should and could be doing the same thing today.
What up Anthony, it would be cool if you did a review of the entire Legendary Comic book Heroes line. As a group, with Pitt and Monkey Man BAFs. Nostalgia

Let's see, I was able to get the BAF Galactus from Toy Biz, he's up there. Apocalypse from Toy Biz another one. Rhino was great, Hasblow. Juggernaut was great as well. Now I only can comment on the ones I own. The Giant Ant-Man BAF was decent. Dormammu (hope I spelled it right?)was good. I really like the Galactus for this reason. Every one of the figures in that Toy Biz wave was decent, some amazing, but no crap. The Dr Strange was eh, but the Professor X-EPIC! Nightcrawler--EPIC! War Machine was great. The Grey Hulk was great, the green Variant was also damn good. Bullseye 🎯 was decent too, both variants. Toy Biz did a better job of not clogging waves with figures nobody wants. Then on the waves people DO WANT! WE CANT FIND THEM ANYWHERE! I really wanted the Kingpin BAF, the Jubilee BAF, and the Mantis BAF. Oh and the Vulture from 🕷🕸Spider-Man🕷🕸Homeless or whatever. There have been some exceptional figures. Incredible sculpts, face print technology is really amping up the game. Great video as always! Take care, be safe, and stay healthy!

i dunno, i liked the warlock baf.. was surprised it wasn't on here because of all the sculpt work.
I have the black apocalypse variant, it's great, but my favourite BAF form toybiz is PItt ( I know it's not a Marvel legend)
Send me the variant.. For reasons.
@@AnthonysCustoms haha you wouldn't like it, one leg was repainted by me.
I can buy a new leg lol
If you're out of reviews to do for now, it would be cool if you did more videos like that Spider-Man one you did not long ago, where you compare all figures of one character. Wolverine, Iron Man, Batman, etc. I'd love to see that.
I really want that blob baf but he's so expensive anywhere to try and get him! I will get him somehow though.
Hey Anthony, when will you review SHF Bison & Sagat? And uh, it is out yet?
Hey Anthony great vid. I would like a fing fang foom and sentinel review. Fing fang foom is one I’ve always liked and I’m thinking of picking up a sentinel.
How about DC multiverse collect and connect....top 10?
The ' Pitt ' BAF is kick ass!!! That is easily top 3...!!! It's huge!
It's not ML.
I agree with Fing fang foom baf I'm completing my 3rd Foom right now want to make a custom.
I'm hoping to have at least 2 of the figures he mentions...I love baf
Rhino was my first baf. I bought every one of the wave to ensure I got rhino. Still one of my favorite figures and it's pretty banged up from use
Can you make a custom Juggernaut action figure?
If you guys are new to this channel, i want to tell you that he probably is the best youtuber or reviewer🥰
Now you have to do a top 10 collect and connect :D
K
The Blob fig reminds me of the 1992 Xmen 6 player arcade game! “Nothing moves the Blob!”
I’d love to see you rank every single build a figure haha
Can do
Not sure if it is the lighting but the head’s skin color on the blob looks off from the rest of the skin.
How about a vid on sanding and prepping joints?
But you just covered the topic thoroughly. Also, i don't do tutorials.
Anthony speaks the truth. You have to respect that.
