In this episode, shot early 2017 we explore a huge industrial terrain which includes the former biggest thermal power station of Albania. IT turned out that they were demolishing the building, but we still wanted to explore this building. This is the first time we get caught aswell on video.

I guess a lot of the city residents go in this place just to see how it is. Maybe this security is used to this situation.

Wikipedia: The Fier Power Station was Albania's largest thermal power plant having 6 identical groups of 31 MW each thus totaling a capacity of 186 MW. Next time go on Saturday. Hehe. 11:36 Wall of firing squad??

This was like a small city or town, it had a hospital, hotel for night shifters, it had a cinema, restaurant a small park. Around 5000 people worked here
A good example of how we are now living in the Post Industrial Era. This is a good thing; maybe the planet can balance itself out, and over time we won't have such volatile weather and climate.

The area with the turbines looked very similar to the hall, where you somehow discovered a sleeping security inside an office.
Yes indeed ! It's the same kind of building. It's a turbine hall and the big machines are turbines.
I’m working for >25 years in power plants all over the globe and I can tell you that most of the turbine halls from the era seen here, all look alike.
Why didn't they just dismantle the alternators and the turbines for scrap metal, it still worth it.

Never shitting your pants while getting caught? How you deal with the adrenaline? This time it wasn't that bad, but maybe other times that you were feeling not safe or anything? Going to jail is the last thing you want!
99% of the time we don't get caught, but sometimes it gets really thrilling !
In this case it would be stupid to run, it are just some ruins. In some other cases i'd run for my life ;) In the patreon group i will post a few short thrilling explores in power stations.

But i would suggest "Pylli Sodës" in Vlore near Fier there are many abbandoned communist factories and many abandoned communist "beachhouses"(small room hotels for vacations). Have fun ❤ also the best of all where u can also find stuff is Sazan Island only that u need a boat to go there. Is a whole abbandoned town/village i dont know if it is accesible now in winter but in summer of course you can go

Richard Meester Dit was een thermal power station. Een kerncentrale staat nog op de lijst 😊
Idd. Thermische centrale. Albanië heeft nooit een nucleaire centrale gehad. Het heeft trouwens nu maar 1 kleine thermische centrale die nog operationeel is. Bijna 100% van alle elektriciteit opgewekt in het land zelf is van waterkracht centrales. Daar ik momenteel woon in Albanië kan ik je zeggen dat dit land een toplocatie voor jullie kan zijn. Er zijn honderden industriële complexen daterend uit de communistische jaren.
Btw. Deze centrale en het moment dat jullie het bezochten heeft een zeer leuk, zwaar politiek, crimineel verhaal rond zich ...

Sometimes they are too old to sell... In some cases it's the first thing that happens.
Exploring the Unbeaten Path I never understood leaving something behind for others to clean up. My attitude is clean up your mess.
They are going to sell the metal for scrap of course. If they were any good they wouldn't decommission the plant.

And you base your opinion on the basis of an abandonder power plant that is being demolished ? Do you know that Albania is regurarly being nominated as one of the top countries to visit ( in 2011 it was nominated 1st globally by lonely planet per exampel ) , and per capita is one of the most visited countries on the planet ?
b012345100 I was looking at the background. I did not really look at the power plant. You have seen one plant, you have seen them all. It seems all those areas are ugly because the people have stripped and destroyed the surroundings. I see it on the telly all the time when seeing pictures of the towns all over Europe and the Middle East. I can't imagine how the middle east and other areas must really smell. You don't have the plant life and trees absorbing all that death of destruction. Even this power plant being abandoned has no plant life or trees taking over.

P.S Fier is the most ugly town of Albania actually , however lately it is seeing massive investments , albeit it will take some more years until it looks descent. That said this is an abandondet part of the city and the city in itself looks much more descent than what it is being showed in this video ( ofc it is not something special ) , which as you can see is being demolished ....
Albania is a really nice country, but abandoned buildings are often in the ugly, industrial cities where tourists don't come ;)

Exploring the Unbeaten Path I just have noticed that other places are not pretty when pictures are shown. People in other countries don't have seem to have flowers, bushes, and landscaped yards. It is what I have noted. People dont have prettiness in their homes like they do in America. I have seen it on the Telly.
