The scariest mountain on the planet. The technical difficulty, the steepness, the treacherous weather, the intimidation factor, K2 is just the most magnificent mountain to look at, and yet so full of danger and terror! George Bell, a member of the 1953 US expedition to K2 said it best, “it is a savage mountain that tries to kill you”, which is how it got it’s frequently used name! It’s also known as Chhogori, Mount Godwin-Austin, the Mountaineer’s mountain and the King of mountains!
Hello Redazione Orobie I congratulate you on climbing K 2. Thank you for the wonderful and impressive film! I wish you good tours! With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig from Switzerland
Somewhere along this route, we lost the three climber's from the 2021 Winter Summit attempt. It's impossible to say if they'll ever be found. Here the weather was clear, they had high winds that would have made the process nearly impossible.
*Its beautiful , K2 has a 25 % fatality rate 2nd highest and 2nd dangerous 1st is anapurna , way more difficult than everest , i am from Pakistan but i cant take that risk :D balls of steel man*
More like twenty times higher death rate. It's colder, has more unpredictable weather and is so remote that it's exhausting. You have to walk 91 kilometers just to get to base camp.
You don’t have to wonder any longer, a winter summit was achieved in January 2021, by a magnificent team of Sherpas. The Sherpas are the greatest mountaineers in the world!
Dis he use oxygen? It seems not for me. The bottle neck looks tougher than Hillary step in Everest. Courageous, endurance and what a success! You guys are rock!
I heard a few climbers say Everest was the easiest 8000meter climb. And K2 was the hardest. Ive even herd joke about Everest. Not to say you cant get stuck in a storm on it. Heck you can get stuck in a Storm on Miami beach and Die. So you get my point to why people die on Everest too. Its sad the average human has no clue about this (but I blame climbers for that, their job to inform.) Every time someone says Everest Is the highest, it should be a law to say "but K2 is vary close to it, and the hardest."
Everest should be easy to climb. It's the lack of common sense and basic planning that kills many people. The amount of people that come back due to not planning ahead, with frostbite, altitude sickness, all of that. Is insane. Unless you acclimatize PROPERLY, you will always need an Oxygen bottle. Unless you plan on doing the climb in under 48 hours (Record is 10 hours, I think with oxygen. Some guy did it with no guide ropes, poles, and no oxygen in 26 hours. Still heaps of time to get in and out of that death zone) you should always take a bottle of oxygen. To truly acclimatize to these conditions would take months.
Depends if you climb it w/o O2 or not. Cho Oyu is probably the easiest all around 8000er. Anyways, Everest isn't the easiest although it's a technically easy mountain. That's not where the best in the world go to climb, that's where tourists go.
No, after he clicked his little pink climbing boots three times, and said there's no place like home! He ended up doing cartwheels down the mountain, after the loud mating call, he shouted to the mountain sasquatch!
slowly. It's why K2 has the longest ascension time of 2 months. The critical part is to get to below 8000m as quickly as possibly without risking death and resting and rehabilitating there for a bit. But by the time one has reached the summit, acclimation has set in and the body has somewhat adjusted to low O2 levels. I've never gone above 4300m (Pikes Peak), but it's a pretty awesome feeling when you get down to sea level from being up there for even a day or two. You feel like each breath is like supercharging your cardiopulmonary system and you can run 10 marathons in a row if you wanted. Of course you can't, but you get the idea. But yea, it's very dangerous and takes tremendous amount of preparation and research. They will get below the death zone quickly and then slowly descend from there.
In a way there so lucky to get the chance, I bet thousands of mountaineers would love a crack at it, but they don't have a spare 70 grand or whatever the cost is.
Showed this to my father, he would have loved to have such an easy way to school
😂👍

There is something about K2 that makes it look so...eerie.
it could be because of all those who died there at the bottleneck, house's chimney, black pyramid etc.
I would never risk my life to do this, but hats off to those that do, and those that make it.
Youre badasses.
Quel volto imponente e quell'urlo primordiale: "Siamo in cimaaaaa"

@Pier Alla Everest is not 1 in 10 anymore. They're like 3 years away from having an escalator to the top.
the serac/traverse area looks very snowy/powdery this time!
Great video. Makes you wonder whether a winter summit on K2 will be achieved any time soon???
