Great video, thanks for the summary on tempering and masterworking. I'm studying up on S4 ahead of the start next week and your summary answered all the questions I had, so thanks very much! Just so I'm clear on masterworking: - There are 3 types of materials you can get from the pit, with the rarer being awarded for doing higher clears. - Each of your items can be upgraded 4 times per material for a total of 12 upgrades. - Upgrades 1-3, 5-7 and 9-11 increase all stats on the item by 5%. - Upgrades 4, 8 and 12 increase a random stat by 25%. - If upgrades 4, 8 and 12 land on a stat you don't want, you have the option to reset the item and start masterworking again (no refund given for the materials already invested). I can see from the most recent patch notes that you can no longer fail masterworking, which is a great change. All characters have a minimum of 10 item slots, so that's 120 upgrades (capping out at 140 for barbs). That's more than enough of a grind. There's no need to artificially extend it by having a chance to fail masterworking, especially as you may have to reset an item. Keep the content coming!
Yup, I believe this is all correct! I appreciate the encouraging words. I'm not sure if I was upset about the failure, because I like the variance, but I understand why others might not be as keen on it.
I was angry about the new upgrading system, thanks to your video I unlock the Masterworking’s tab and on the way to upgrading my gear, Thanks for the great video!
First roll of tempering being free feels quite generous... i'll take it! Curious to see if the number of rerolls varies based on the item power (or other similar parameter), similarly to "another game" (wink wink). Requirements for Pit currencies on the other hand do seem a bit steep. But they're also tuning XP gains across the board which should allow to get to those systems faster allowing to invest time and energy in farming this and other endgame systems instead, so that could help. Thanks for nice recap! :)
I am confused, what exactly do they mean by a tempered item? I am asking because I have legendary pants, I selected a resistance temper and down to 3/5 but happy with the pants, but i still cant place it in the masterworking cube. If i try it gives me an error saying it must be a tempered item? I already rolled the resistance from the temper screen, shouldn't I be able to start masterwork? I cant even put it in the cube.
@@silentstill appreciate the reply, that was my issue, for some reason I thought it said you can only roll 1 affix. Now I see, it meant 1 affix from the specific group
Why does some of my gear have a highlighted affix with higher rolls like a star? I have some gear with 1-3 highlighted. Does it just mean more GG potential?
Just found your channel. Amazing content. Love the atmosphere in your room. Did I see a deck of mtg cards laying on your desk in one of your videos? Question, I’ve stopped playing D4 after reaching level 100 with one character early after the launch of the game. My chests are filled with gear. Can I destroy everything at the black smith and will the affixes automatically be added at the tempering station? Want to start playing again after the new update. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work 🙏
Good eye! I've got a bit of a shuffling habit, haha. They are actually from a lesser known tcg called "flesh and blood" (it's excellent, check it out) Re: salvaging - I believe they will be add-able to the codex. It's not completely clear to me what will happen with all "legacy" gear, as the whole affix system is being overhauled. I remember that there was mention of that old existing gear being flagged in some member, but we weren't able to test this on PTR as it was all new!
@@silentstill I looked up Flesh and Blood and the artwork on these cards looks fantastic. I really appreciate the shuffling ''behind the computer'' habit as well. Thank you for the information. I'll definitely check it out after the release to see how it works. A fresh start without a full stash sounds appealing to me.
You've got to use one of the temper recipes you get for the first one to appear. So when you get the scroll/recipe, just click it and you learn it. That will unlock the tempering. and the materworking unlocks in the Pit I believe.
If its a strong base, try tempering. If you are able to get your temper rolls, enchant it until you get what you want there, and if that all works out, master. If you have a very specific roll path you need, you could masterwork before enchanting, but masterworking will generally be more expensive.
You should be able to put a mobility affix on all boots now, at least. But yeah, it would be nice if there was more standardized mobility across classes.
maybe its only something in the current season event , as i went to every smith and none had the window you showed at 1min 45 , or its only a level 100 thing even though im 85 i still dont see this so the whole tempering thing for now at least means nothing
When I saw that master working Can fail, my fucking heart dropped. How the fuck are they gonna add a pontentisl for failure when I’ve spent my fucking time grinding these damn materials
They shouldn't allow reset for master worked items. It basically just means as long as you have the time you will always get the perfect rolls since you can just go get more materials over and over. Takes away from finding that perfect piece and it rolling correctly. Which at it's fundamental base is the whole point of this type of game. Mistake IMO but better than the previously used system.
Goes both ways. If you cant reset, then just keep playing until you get the item and try again, and spend the same thing you would with reset. But losing the item is a collosal waste of time, reseting it is better.
"some would call it a grind"... if this is the best they can come up with then there is no hope left at all.. I don't need ANOTHER reason to have to play longer and more.. I WANT to play longer and more because I LOVE Diablo... I'd like to just easily be able to play and craft my gear how I want it and try new builds and such.. this seems like an(other) unnecessary RNG hoping grind fest through content that feels no different at any point... I'm just so saddened by this game and have totally given up. Thank god we have D2, D3, Grim Dawn and PoE
the grind is in the eye of the beholder. I enjoy the gameplay of diablo and I think the "pit" system feels quite good, so I'm excited to see it go live
This is the build crafting changes true Diablo players have been asking for. Finally something fun to Work towards at end game. It’s really not a painful grind, it’s a rewarding process that makes enhancing truly feel worth it.
Live now!

Finally someone who explains calmly. Man we need more video like that. Straight to the point without missing anything. Great job.

Thanks mate. 1 day before the start of season 4 and had no idea what it was all about. Do now.

How do u masterwork unique items
I don't believe you can.

Have you filled both temper slots? You likely need to do the second one!

@@Vin68142 fun with PTR quriks lol
Do you know if you can find tempering manuals for all classes?
I don't think you find the class-specific ones for classes other than the one you are playing. There seem to be some that are shared, however!
Can you reset an item if you fully tempered it so you can start from scratch on it again?
Nope, not currently. Once its out of tempering charges, the item is locked.
Can items still be enchanted at occultist?
Yes! You can still re-roll one of the (non-tempered) affixes on the items, and imprint them as before.
how tf i can unlock the last tab on blacksmith ?
Once you have fully tempered an item it will be masterworkable. You have to complete the pit to unlock masterworking.
ty for this
thank you for watching!
is that anvil icon on an item from masterworking?
sorry, which icon are you looking at?
@@silentstill like at 7:00, next to chance for fireball. What’s the meaning of the anvil symbol?

Those are "greater affixes!" Its a 1.5x multiplier on the best roll for that affix. Keep an eye out for those
Much appreciated.
