After doing end game content for some time i must say i think the Helltide is the most fun of all the activities. It is like doing a dungeon, but you get to stay outside, plan your own path, do different events, open dopamine chests and fight bosses. There is room for improvement, the events in general could be more diverse and interesting and i would love to see more random bosses like the assassin bug which i found to be a fun fight with many players joining in to defeat the bastard. Also i find the mystery chest deal kinda weak, just make all chests the same reward ratio and mark them on the map, maybe mark events too or make it so that if a event is started by a player a longer range notification will pop up on other players maps so that players will gather at and do the event together. Events could be bigger and more challenging under the assumption that players will do them together. I really hope they will continue to develop the Helltides along with the Nightmare Dungeon system i feel there is a good balance that can be achieved between the two end game activities. The nightmare dungeon could focus more on the solo aspect of the game and the helltide could develop the multiplayer aspect where you team up with random players to do events and defeat bosses.
I find Nightmare dungeons to be the worst activity... takes long loot is usually much worse than a helltide... and sadly experience for the glyph is low, BUT its the only place to get that glyph experience....
So its the opposite of a dungeon:) agreed that they are way more fun that the dungeon rinse and repeat. I dislike the fact that everyone tells you to use a website to find the important thing...seems like something that should be in game. Make it visible but put some nasty packs all around it to make it hard to access and easier to die trying.
Helltides are by far my favorite end game content. Opening the mystery chests is so satisfying and rewarding, and I love planning my routes. I hope they add more open world events like this for endgame.
11:53, you also forgot to mention here the 3rd gatherable which is those tortured soul doodads. If you happen upon ones that are glowing red, they also drop cinders and souls.
One HUGE thing to know when you're a chad and hit tier 4 world at any point while being underleveled (like 65 or before) and tier 4 helltides are mobs at like 75 , well.... you can farm helltide at tier 3, get your 175 cinders then tier up world from kyovashad and horse your way to cash out in tier 4 helltide. That means you can get ancestral high power items from way before lvl70 without having to face 10lvl+ mobs.
Dude, just want to give big thanks to you for this info! Tonight, I was able to run a circuit and got 3/4 mystery chests before I had to run off to a world event. Between all that I ended up 18 legendaries in under 1 hour! Subbed!
also if you see chests or those small clickable wriggling body things, some glow red and they guarantee a number of cinders, you should get 4-5 every time from the red glowing ones vs normal ones so keep an eye out for those too
also if there is a glittering ore or something like that those also drop a lot of embers and other rare crafting materials. most people know about the flowers but dont really see people mention the ore veins too

Kripp mentioned the helltide specific ones for the helltide specific material. @onetime1337 mentioned the glittering mining node which spawns regardless of the helltide event, but during the helltide event it has the added loot roll of cinders. Do you read bro?
Fixing a few things that were slightly wrong: Mobs are always 2 lvls higher than you, not 3. You get a random number of legendaries in mystery chests between 1 and 5. You are not guaranteed 2. Also, you are not guaranteed to get a certain number of ancestrals.
You can also do the cinder collection in Tier 3, then port to town and switch to Tier 4 to open the chests. Takes time but if you are not strong enough to do Tier 4 it is sometimes worth the risk / reward.
No need to port to town. After getting your 175 and standing next to the chest, "Leave Game" to go back to main menu, switch to wt4 there, re-enter the game and you will popup right next to the chest
Once you max reistances and throw on a few damage tempers, you can just farm Alters for Cinders, Blood Matriarch is the only issue if their isnt any higher levels. I do my chest runs in the last 10 mins so that information was super helpful.
BTW, not mentioned in the video, but helltides are also a great source of quality elixirs, like the 30% max life one. You can ignore the weak ones that drop from the mystery chests, but pick up the regular ones, they're very good.
They need to buff the unique drop rate chance from helltide chests. Thats my main gripe. Having done about 3 helltides per day over the past week i havent gotten a single unique which is ridiculous. Maybe some qol. Like actually letting us know what the chest is rather than just saying "protection".
My Necro almost did a hell tide yesterday by myself. Always players around for World Boss but just started doing hell tides - just unlocked WTIV. Helpful guide - website just what I needed.
I have stopped doing them for loot, cause I'm always too late to the 175 chests. I have even started by scouting in these chest locations first, and I confirm they are there. So I continue farming in the area... Then next time I check on it, it's gone. How do they work? is there a specific amount of players that can open it? Cause I have seen myself and others open it, without it disappearing. Is it a bug? ... There are often times where I am stuck with 500+ and I can't even find/see the cheaper chests... Such a waste of time :s
I’m finding helltides and whispering tree dungeon runs to be fine for leveling. I know it’s not the most efficient way to level but I don’t expect to hit a 100 until around season 1. I’m treating the whole treadmill more like WoW than Diablo 2 or 3 with its fast leveling.
maybe things changed since this vid, but helltide mystery chests are now 250 and even if you don't see them on the map, they DO appear if you are close enough. Got a few of them but, like any gear from tree of whispers, legion events and boss events, I've not yet received anything great yet.
the stupid part of helltide is the 175 box is sometimes there and sometimes not, so frustrating.............what a waste of time....once i held 300 shards running around like fool and cant find the 175 box....this video helps a lot! thanks so much!
Been doing this for more than a week now, only got a 6 chest run once in Khejistan helltides, imo that's the best helltides spawn location since events are spread in a long line along the 3 zones and you can just tp back to the capital when you're done with the last event up in the north.
forgot a mega important tip!! Cinders transfer between world tiers. You can get 175 cinders on world tier 3 (if you are level 50-60) and then switch it over to world tier 4 and enter right back at the mystery chest, open it and get much better lewt
I think while the Hell tide is down there should be something else to do, maybe switch between 3 different activities in the open world to do, but make sure something is always up. (Excluding the tree)
Find the area that has the most public events concentrated in the helltide, then just rotate and farm them. You can get enough cinders to get all four 175 cinder chests. You also get obols.
@@musclegeek1991 the only way I've gotten 4 is if the chests "update". Sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes it happens with 15 mins left but I have gotten 4 before which was very lucrative. The map supplied in the video will show the public event locations.

@@musclegeek1991 That's exactly what happened, he said it in the video : the chests respawn (reset, change location) on the hour. So if helltides start at 1:30 pm you have 30 min to get the 2 chests, then at 2:00 pm the chets reset and you have another 30 min to get 2 other.

Mystery chests are awesome, always 3-5 legendarys. 5 times not that often but it happens, mostly I get 4 legendarys. A 6 chest run??? Damn I only got 4 chests out of a run...

You didn’t cover the Helltide Assassin. Is there any unique drop to killing it? I’m only level 55 and can’t justify spending the time to combat a level 73 elite.
Has anyone else encountered the Legion Event they were actively doing (along with many other players) just up and disappear on them? We were halfway finished and everything just disappeared out of nowhere. No chests of course. Big waste of our time. Everyone ran around the area on horseback confused trying to find the loot/boss or anything for that matter.
Ive done a 6 chest dream run. But honestly i think the dream is having 45 minutes for the first rotation to farm up cinders and open the 1st rotation of chest and then just spend the last 15 minutes to farm the last few cinders if you dont have enough and open the 2nd wave of chests
I tried to get to world tier 4 at lvl 60, but everything Elias throws at me one shots me. Kind of annoying, because it has been ages since the last gear upgrade on wt3.
just respecc a lot into defensive nodes from paragon/skill tree and use a defensive elixir.also if you can level up to 61 or 62 his dmg will drop to 30-50%. i tried to do him at lvl 60 with a rogue,3k life 6k armor unbuffed,with every defensive aspect and he was basicly impossible.i leveled to 61 and put on as many good defensive paragons/good defensive skill points which didnt lose dmg and he was easy.once you get to world tier 4 stuff is a joke,nothing is even close to as hard hitting as him
You want the natural 725+ item level legendary for aspects, and the natural 725+ for the affixes…and 800+ for armor and !!! weapon damage. Don’t restrict yourself to legendary and ignore non legendary or your gonna have a long time to gear and miss some god tier items that just need an aspect imprinted - plus they are cheaper to enchant before being legendary.
Hmmm gonna give this more try. I'm level 64 and there's literally no nightmare dungeons, just the whipers. I get zero gear drops roaming around. Tier IV is only available as of level 70 so I'm just trying to level up.
can helltide chests drop uniques? for ex I want a specific unique weapon. I farm mystery chests + weapon chest to increase my chances. Is it possible or I should run nightmare dungeons for unique drops?

ATTENTION: if you have been playing on PS5, my game crashes during every tide. Make sure you have space in your inventory bc after you open a box, you have 6 seconds before it crashes
The currency really needs to carry over between hell tides. It is incredibly frustrating to log on late into a hell tide and either trying to get enough and not or you do and dont get a chest in time. It's an interesting system, but the way it's been put in the game needs some serious work imho.
helltide might not be best experience but it is hella fun.....but honestly it think that was the most fun for tier 3 i had out of the game. renown gives me a headache and bores me to death and i feel like i need to finish it to get the renwon points.
Heavy weapon chest is 150, and it's only heavy because it drops 2h weapons. Light weapon chests are 125 and drop 1h. Tbh, not worth it on either, they usually only drop one legendary, if that.
Huh.. i always thought that the pro's were the ones that follow you around while on their mount just picking up cinders after you destroyed everything.. i had someone just follow me around never dismounted but stayed far enough away that they did not have to do anything.. Eventually teleported to town just to get away from them.. lol.
they 100% stealth nerfed the mystery chests a few days ago. i have been doing helltide since launch and they always gave 3-5 legendaries. now it's suddenly just two on average.

I'm not sure what determines how many of those drop per pack or mob you right. For me it's like I have to play solo to get more. I avg 1 box within that hour because those orbs don't drop for me Ever lmao. Just in very small amounts. I avg to get 0 to 2 legendary out that 175 box so I just leave them hell tides the hell alone. for me is a good place to get scraps for other gear. I don't mind, if your having fun and having better luck I say do it. Just for me since opening day it's been a waste of my time.
Do events and use helltide .com to find the mystery chest. Don’t die or you lose a lot of shards. Party up if you can for safety. Saved you 13minutes of rambling.
One more thing to add, if you're REALLY lucky, you can sometimes get a Legion event inside a Helltide zone, you can get 200-300 shards in a small window of time, provided you don't die during the event.
I had this and it was a nightmare we could not even get past the first wave…. And only got 1 chest because of the stupid helltide. Everything was so tough and strong.

You can also use Mobalytics which puts a timer overlay in your game for helltides, world bosses, and legion events.
Helltides are truly terrifying on Hardcore. When that fire rains from fhe sky or that lvl72 boss lurking around. Scroll of escape boys!

You can get a friend to help you kill Elias if you get too frustrated.

I think you can get it earlier, I believe the dungeon is just lvl 70 recommendation.

The currency really needs to carry over between hell tides. It is incredibly frustrating to log on late into a hell tide and either trying to get enough and not or you do and dont get a chest in time. It's an interesting system, but the way it's been put in the game needs some serious work imho.

helltide might not be best experience but it is hella fun.....but honestly it think that was the most fun for tier 3 i had out of the game. renown gives me a headache and bores me to death and i feel like i need to finish it to get the renwon points.

The bugs that cast slow on you in the open world are just brutal as a necro. Really hate helltides.
one thing i dont understand... why does this game even drop magic and regular items on world tier3? Its not worth to even picking up and sell them..
You can get forgotten souls from salvaging legendary items now so helltide is not the only way anymore

You do, in fact, lose half your cinders if you die in Helltide. I did. 😞
What about the heavy weapon chest? Not worth it? 125 cinders.
Heavy weapon chest is 150, and it's only heavy because it drops 2h weapons. Light weapon chests are 125 and drop 1h. Tbh, not worth it on either, they usually only drop one legendary, if that.

Huh.. i always thought that the pro's were the ones that follow you around while on their mount just picking up cinders after you destroyed everything.. i had someone just follow me around never dismounted but stayed far enough away that they did not have to do anything.. Eventually teleported to town just to get away from them.. lol.
Two mystery chests and only one legendary between them yesterday
@dylanwarner6035 Definitely random. I usually get 3-6 legendaries each from the 165 and 175 ones.
they 100% stealth nerfed the mystery chests a few days ago. i have been doing helltide since launch and they always gave 3-5 legendaries. now it's suddenly just two on average.

I'm not sure what determines how many of those drop per pack or mob you right. For me it's like I have to play solo to get more. I avg 1 box within that hour because those orbs don't drop for me Ever lmao. Just in very small amounts. I avg to get 0 to 2 legendary out that 175 box so I just leave them hell tides the hell alone. for me is a good place to get scraps for other gear. I don't mind, if your having fun and having better luck I say do it. Just for me since opening day it's been a waste of my time.
I only play like an hour or 2 a day cause of work. Never even seen a helltide on the map. Yes I am in at least wt3.

Kripparrian have you ever received a unique from a helltide chest or from gambling obols?
Do events and use helltide .com to find the mystery chest. Don’t die or you lose a lot of shards. Party up if you can for safety. Saved you 13minutes of rambling.
One more thing to add, if you're REALLY lucky, you can sometimes get a Legion event inside a Helltide zone, you can get 200-300 shards in a small window of time, provided you don't die during the event.

Had this happen last night. The tide was almost over, but I was able to get one more chest that spawned in the legion area.
I had this and it was a nightmare we could not even get past the first wave…. And only got 1 chest because of the stupid helltide. Everything was so tough and strong.
