- This video shows the delivery of my 1976 Mustang Cobra II. After many years of searching for the right car, I finally found it. Includes delivery day and a walk around this all original, beautiful, unrestored, one owner, 25,000 mile car.
Sweet little Cobra 2!!😁👍🔧🛠️
Nice find
I love these !!
It’s so great to see someone enjoy the car I love so much.
I've always liked this model of Cobra. I thought you could do a lot with this car
Very cool!! I remember those when they were new’ Farah Fawcett drove a white/ Blue one on TV.. 👍
Oh man. My first car was a white and red cobra 2. Bought it a few days after my 16th birthday. Congrats man.
Such a beautiful car! Enjoy!
Thank you Joseph.
Gorgeous car. I love it.
Thank you Michael. I was lucky to have found this beautiful Cobra II.
@@cobra_ii_guy1079 I'll say. I had a 74 with a 302 swapped in. They are so light that even though I had a 662 hp Shelby GT500, I think my best memories are of the MII. I envy yours.
Wow. Lucky you!!!! On beeing the proud owner if this great car!!!!! My dream's car. Congratulations. Njoy it!!!!!
Its a joy to own it. Love this car!
Bless your heart -- I owned a 76 Cobra II in the 80's - black and gold, watching this vid was like... that's my favorite car I owned! Looked just like it. Thanks
Christopher mark Rogers maybe
Holy cow, that’s beautiful....
sharp lil car
I am crying sitting in class 7th grade watching a man wash and wax every couple months. Telling my friends I'm going to own that car someday and i did but lost it .i heard a dope head got it and turned it in to a septic tank
Brings back memories. My parents bought me the exact car as a high school grad gift, brand new in 1977! Can’t believe the law miles and condition of this one! Mine started rusting and had been in many accidents and I think every quarter panel had either been repaired or replaced. But no frame damage only body panel repairs. Only mods I had done was adding a true dual exhaust with Cherry Bomb brand glass packs exiting with chrome tips right in front of the rear wheel well openings. Sounded awesome! When I finally traded it in it had a main seal leak and the starting of some major rust. Owned it for seven hard run years! Miss it so much! I would love to pick up an exact car like this one with the rust-free body and low miles but add some exhaust and engine tweaks to make it a “sleeper” Cobra II!
Hope you will enjoy your new ride!
Thanks for sharing your story. My first Cobra also had lots of bondo on the rear quarters when I bought it. I searched many year to find this one. Since it is so original, I don't have any plans to modify it. At least not for now.
Great score on that black n gold hertz edition.
Thanks Serge. These black and gold Mustang Cobra II's have a similar paint and stripe colors as the 1966 Shelby G.T. 350H (Hertz) cars but these were not related to Hertz. I do love these colors!
Hurst?
@@SofaKingQuick not a hurst. All stock Ford.
@@airwavesolutions5654 See comments above. Morons are calling the special editions HERTZ not HURST…. Which is what I was correcting.
@@SofaKingQuick They were referring to special edition 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350H cars which were rented by the Hertz car rental company which were painted black with gold stripes. Those cars could be rented and were also known as rental racers since some people rented them to race on weekends.
Holy cow that is an absolutely beautiful Cobra II. I used to have a white and blue 76 as well. Like a dummy I sold it.
Thanks ao much. This Cobra is in a pretty amazing condition and I am proud to be its caretaker. Dont you always wonder if your former Cobra II is still out there?
Great looking car. My first car was a '76 Cobra II that I picked up for $200 then put the money I saved up from my summer jobs to get it painted and running. Enjoy the ride and memories!
Beautiful. Mine was a '77, bought in September of that same year. Same color, with the main cosmetic difference being the black plastic bumper trim vs the chrome on the '76 models. Also, mine had the 3-spoke sport steering wheel and the styled steel wheels (those slotted mags were highly coveted back in the day)! Also, it seems yours sports the German "Getrag" 4-speed, while mine was a C4 automatic.
I often wondered if mine had originally been an optioned Mustang that had been given the "Cobra" treatment by the dealer after it had left the factory, since my interior door panels had a running horse instead of the "Cobra" moniker inside the bright trim.
At the time, compared to the newly arriving 1978 "King Cobra" version, these were preferred at the Ford dealer since most of the potential customers thought the billboard "Cobra II" on the side was just too over the top (especially since GM was selling Camaro Z-28s and Pontiac Trans-Ams with 350 and 400 cubic inch engines, with much better weight distribution). Sadly for Ford fans, the mighty Fox-body 5.0 GT was still a few years away, and the GM cars regularly mopped the proverbial floor with my ride in any performance contest. That all changed when, coming home from the Marine Corps in 1984, I managed to shoehorn in a built 351 Windsor and close ratio toploader 4-speed, and put the car on an extreme weight diet. Best I recall, I also had custom-widened 13x8 steel wheels with long-discontinued 215-60r13 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on all 4 corners (though nothing looked better than the Dunlop Radial GT Qualifiers in 205/60 r13 that were on it previously). By the time I was done, it was good for around 140 mph on the top end, but was no longer anything but a race car with very little utility (even among the Big Block Chevelle crowd, nobody would meet me out on the interstate for a midnight contest). In all fairness, the Chevy boys were mostly geared for acceleration, which I stayed clear of because the front heavy mustang wouldn't "hook up", and would leave black marks for a hundred yards.
If I had it to do over again, I'd do exactly what you are doing: enjoy it as a moderately-powered; quiet, and good-driving small car (especially with that wondrous rack and pinion steering), put on the larger sway bars from the optional handling package if they aren't on it already (especially the rear bar, as it really tightens up the handling), maybe put in a small cam and good aluminum heads (but leave the exhaust manifolds in place), and stop at about 300-350 horsepower max (the leaf spring rear suspension and flexible body, combined with 13 inch tires, isn't designed for any more).
It may never be the fastest thing on the road, but that isolated front subframe and tight steering made it one of the nicest small highway cars of it's day, with much tighter doors and interior trim than those rattling Firebirds and Camaros!
Nice car! I had a new one just like it.
Nice car.
That 289 that's what I fear long live the 302
nice i got a 78 kc,and i luv it
That’s a beautiful Cobra. I just bought raffle tickets for a 76 Cobra, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.
IDC what anyone says, these look wayyyy better than the Box...I mean Foxbodies
Beautiful. Bolt action
Nice car ,you should change the steering wheel to the rally one ,I had one on my 77 mustang ,it was optional and it looks better than the cheep one that comes standard
Thanks! I do like the look of the rally steering wheel, but since the car is so original, my goal is to keep it as original as possible.
Everyone I knew with the cobras didn’t have that wheel , I don’t think it came with that one
Acabo de comprar un Cobra II modelo 1977 en perfectas condiciones ,soy muy afortunado !! Amo mi auto
I want two of those I have one identical the ones in the picture and the other one was a 76 blue and white I miss them
I had this same car when I was 19 years old. I don't remember it looking as nice as this one. The only the thing I didn't like was that it had a V6. It looked fast but no way it could compete against other V8 sports cars. I'm not even sure if you can get that year make and model with a V8. The older Mustangs had V8 but I don't know if or when that all changed.
Chip, great car to have when you were 19. For the Mustand II, the V8 option started with the 1975 Mustang IIs. Cobra II option started in 1976
Better looking than any foxbody. Take out the 140hp motor and put some goodies on it so she is in the 300+ hp category and it would be a blast.
Thanks Jeff. I agree. But this one is so original, I do not want to modify anything.
Oh yah the same same color and may I address the hood scoop small rectangular orange light side the scoop switch under dash for night time bew t full awesomeness
If I had to pick one old car to buy it would be one of these...with the 302 4 spd. of course!
Your video came up on my feed. Nice car. I just finished restoration on my 76 Cobra II. It needed it but I completely agree on leaving it as is. Concours! If you're interested check out my 76.
Very nice looking car! You do however know it has under 140hp!
You need to understand what was going on in the mid 70s. The OPEC oil embargo and gas crisis caused long lines at gas stations and limited availability of gas. The public was preferring smaller more fuel efficient cars and imports were being more popular. The Mustang II was Fords answer and it sold incredibly well when it debuted in 1974. The Mustang II is credited with saving the Mustang. The horse power was typical for cars in that period and due to the light weight of the car, the car feels quite nimble. Of course it is not a high HP engine but these cars play an important role in the Mustang history.
How much did you pay for the car with out shipping?
I bought a brand new White with Blue one Was it a muscle car ? Uh no. Was it a girl magnet and awesome ? Oh hell yeh
Colores cuales son de este carro?
Cómo se llaman el color de las pinturas ?
Paint is black and the original decals are gold. Interior has the Luxury black vinyl bucket seats.
I don't care for the Mustang 2.
My best friend back in the day had one of these. Good memories though... Black Cobra gold stripes. I liked riding in it lol.
Lose the music. I personally think the car was better left under its forgein name. The Capri. To the mustang purist that one doesnt count. But lets be real theee worst looking mustand has to be the 71 mach 1.
Mustang Grande...nothing grand about it at all.
the music sucks . lets hear the car sheesh
Ugly desecration of the mustang name.
I guess you don't like how these look. Thanks for letting us know.
