    I went to a bootcamp about 3 years ago. The information was great, the career services was lackluster. Towards the end of it I lost my mindset and focus. I let my job (Mechanic), my family life, and video games get in the way. I completed it, but didnt keep up with it. Now I am looking to get back into it. Im hoping by laser focusing on the Front-end side of things i can quickly pick everything back up and get the ball rolling again.
    Things I need to do differently this time.
    -Have a plan
    -Set goals
    -Get proper sleep
    -Network (this one is a tough one for me im an anxious person)
    -Stay motivated
    -Stay active
    -Practice Typing

      And get SPECIFIC with your entry point. Look at the jobs that interest you and see what frameworks they use. Get really good at front-end with a particular framework and demonstrate that ability in your portfolio.

    Congrats on your 1 year anniversary of being a pro dev dude. It's really motivating to see you excel in life and as a dev. Also have been learning HMTL, CSS, just started JS. Self-taught route obviously, bootcamps are a bit pricey in my country.
    Seeing this video on a Monday morning is really motivating, and can't wait to land my first job as a dev.
    Cheers, love from Zimbabwe.

    Congrats bro. I have been watching your videos almost 1 year now. and i like to see your development after each video. 2 weeks ago, I started to work in a company as a frontend intern. and now i am you a year ago. I hope i can handle things like you did.

      @@MichaelWhiteDev Thanks for replying man, it was good. In the beginning, I had no idea about react, typescript and next.js. After a while, I got used to it and I started to make components for a big project. Things are all good so far. The company is good, my teammates are good, boss is fine. After finished my internship they offered me a part-time job so that I can finish college and work for them. Sometimes I felt like maybe I should quit. I don't understand the code and I can't write a code but I am happy for not giving up. You better keep coding because I am coming behind you brooo. Take care of yourself. Later!

    Glad to hear your doing well! I'm about 8 months in. Almost finished with building a fullstack ecommerce store. Its been a great learning experience but I've spent like 2 months creating just this project. I hope its enough to get me hired somewhere. Just gotta make it an my portfolio look pretty I think.

    Thank you for documenting your journey, and I'm glad to see it all work out for you. It was one of your first web dev videos that helped guide me on my own journey to change careers to front end and it's going good. I got html, css, and some js under my belt and currently making projects with react to get more comfortable with it. Peace and love bro!

    wow bro, im very proud of you. Im here since you only had 500 subs, now you have 6k, plus this now achievement. Just as you, I wanted to do web developing but I realized wasn't for me, so now im just trying to do cyber security. As matter of facts, im doing the OSCP to get a job. I already had a couple of interviews, I'm even waiting on a response from a company in europe

    If someone has a decent level of commercial acumen going into their first developer job, meaning, they know how to navigate projects and organizations, is this a large hurdle already out of the way?

    Great points, definitely echo my experience, although I’m only 5 months in and still in the baptism by fire stage. It’s even harder when you’re a frontend dev in a role where 60% of the work is server-side development 😮‍💨
    Reassuring to hear that the subsequent 6 months were a bit less stressful as you grew into the role and gained/solidified skills. No doubt you’ll be promoted to React work soon enough 🙌

    Hi man. Love your channel. Love what you're doing for the community. When I found your channel I started an IT Support role for a tech company. Been there 6 months now and starting to feel things turn in a much more comfortable and manageable direction. I've been trying to get back into coding with the goal of a front end position but still feel so drained at the end of each day looking at a screen all day long to then try and learn to better my career. This then just makes me feel fatigued and turns me off the idea of coding which I fell in love with. Have you any tips to manage your time working to your time learning?

    • @MichaelWhiteDev
      @MichaelWhiteDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TAKE BREAKS! Around my 6th month mark I was completely burnt out. So I spent 2 weeks relaxing and playing video games. My "coding time" mainly consisted of reading "think like a programmer" and interesting blog articles / content related to coding.
      Now I make sure to set aside some time for "fun" everyday so I don't end up taking a 2 week break again.

    Do you need to know algorithm / data structure questions for interviews? All my interviews keep testing me with leetcode type questions and no one has asked for a portfolio or anything. It’s making me question what I should spend my time studying

    • @MichaelWhiteDev
      @MichaelWhiteDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends where and what you're applying for. I didnt have any DSA questions, but they also knew I was totally new.
