Good tip! I have file cards but won't remove embedded aluminum. What about files with groved edges? Wood perhaps....

I am glad to see videos like this. I haven't looked at subs or views and I think this is or might be your first. I have a machine shop/ fab shop and I couldn't make a video. So me being a critic is only to hopefully give insight and keep you going. Try to make your videos like you are doing the job without the camera. Maybe dub over the video you did a good job but the scraping and cleaning was a bit long. Show your techniques for each tool fast forward or speed up the video. Then show the basic idea and technique to checking the overall flatness. I did like how you explained how to store a precision straight edge. I was interested in seeing how another Machinist does their job, and it takes a lot to put it out there, I couldn't. But the average person would be lost or done with the cleaning. Hopefully this doesn't discourage you it's a good start, this is meant to take collective criticism to get better at this new craft you are taking on. Good luck I will subscribe to watch the growth.

@@albertpierce6263 I agree with you. I wanted the video to be maybe 10-15 minutes long max. Then it ended up into almost 30 minutes. I do actually plan on making a shorter version of this. Maybe even a TH-cam short. At a minimum I could put time stamps in this one so it would be easier to skip through.
      Thank you for the input.

@@BudgetBuiltDiesel While condensed info is great, it is also super useful to see an entire job done in detail. For many inexperienced people, most of their uncertainty is regarding small details that would be glossed over in a shorter overview.
