Yes, this is perfect for that purpose. Kids will be able to appreciate the vibrant colors and at the same time, these paints have larger pan surface. Friendly paints and price.

I got mine , a red one, 2 months ago. Bought it because I was curious on how comparable is it to my other set - the Pretty Excellent as they both are from the same company, but this one is waaaay cheaper than PE. Since this is inexpensive and considered a crafty set, I don't have much concern on the lightfastness. For those who do commission works, or wish to display their arts on the wall, better get a professional grade paints.

Loved this info on these new paints. My favourite bit is when you do the comparison with other pallets I always learn something or maybe you just jog the old memory. I use superior paints quite a bit I love the brightness you get with them, will wait for the next video on the bigger set of O.Win to see what you think of them although I’m very tempted to buy them as these paints are so pretty and I love how bright they are. That is not the main issue. Lol. My room is a mess. Hahaha. Like literally a stereotype artist room. Lol but yes, it's bme resolution tob fix everything so that it would be atleast presentable and more friendly for working. Hehe. About the collection tour, i got tons of paints, my floor space is not literally enough if i had to spread them down.. ao i need to sytematize it too. Plus, i still have paints coming and paints from the christmas shoppibg that i hadnt opened yet.. so in short, i need to settle my things first. Hahaha. But I feel the excitement already doing your suggestions. ☺️ Please be patient in my older videos (2018 to early 2019), they're super low quality, unedited/poorly edited and full of errr. Haha. Yess, DaVinci paints. I have 12 37mls and 12 15mls. I love them, and also some of my followers here have tried them because ive poured in pans and sold aome sets in my store. Unfortunately, i have not done any lightfastness test.. i want to do it all at the same time, so i need a free week to do that. i have reviewed the higher grade set of this, please check it out,.. though sadly it doesn't give the pigment codes.. so, I'm not expecting it to really last until of course we conduct our own tests.
Allan, thank you for the review. I have Paul Ruben's watercolors similar to the moist Russian Sonnet watercolors. I like them as well as Superior. I do not think Shopee ships to the USA.

I think I've seen that being reviewed by another artist here on TH-cam, Frugal Crafter if I'm not mistaken.. i wonder why paul Rubens has to repackage the Sonnet paints for their line when they make some good and affordable themselves.. hmm. Yes, unfortunately, Shopee doesn't ship to US yet. 😔
@@AllanJayQuesada I am not sure about the repackaging either. I have Russian paints purchased about 20 years ago. They are just as moist and ready to go comparable to the Paul Ruben I purchased a few months ago.

Hahaha. I'm sorry to make you regret. But Superior is still affordable and great paints. Just enjoy using it and when you finish that set, then you may explore more brands.. 😉
I would exchange one of the violets to a cerulean blue. With that you gain a beautiful bright blue for painting the sky and with emerald you can mix turquoise. You can also mix the violet. 🙂
Id love to have a genuine cerulean too, but im afraid that would make the set expensive. for that id probably just mix phthalo blue with white as a close alternative.
@@AllanJayQuesada I meant that color switch theoretically, reflecting on what you have said around 14:10, having a turquoise in exchange to the yellow green. Turquoise you can mix but cerulean blue you cannot. If you mix phthalo blue with white you'll get a semi-opaque blue, not a transparent one. I wouldn't think a transparent cerulean blue would make the palette so much more expensive. 😉

Green really seems to be the universal Christmas colour ^^' My family's kind of a bit more on the traditional side when it comes to Christmas, so ours is always chock full with evergreens,.gold, reds, cream white and plain warm white lights :3 Since you're a bit ahead of us (still late morning of the 24th here in Gernany), but I guess it's already Christmas Eve where you are, so: I wish you a very Merry Christmas 🎄

hi Fatima and Dayang. sorry if i couldn't attend to each question right away as I got many, and they come in random in the day and also i have work too. well, better late than never, so here I am. 😉 for me, chalky means literally like chalk. like 5he paints don't stick well on paper even when dry, that they dry like soft powder and transfer to the next page or smudge on your finger.. that's how i understand chalky, and so far, i haven't experienced that yet at O. Win. i did a chalky test, but for some reason, (my bad) it wasn't included in this video. that might have elominated the doubts, but yes i can confirm, it's not chalky in mh experince. there are other factors though that may make a paint chalky, even if itnis already on a Daniel Smith level.. that could be a very low quality paper or very thick paint application. watercolors, traditionally should be used thinly or in light layers so, this should also be observed. i hope ive answered your question well. 🙏
Hello sir, I watched this video a week ago and I came back here to tell you that I bought the same watercolor just recently from the same shop at shopee, I was contemplating beforehand if I should get the seamiart 50's because they had a sale which cost about the same price as o.win but i still sticked to o.win and might check on seamiart if I happen to buy another watercolor paints again next time. I have the O.win watercolors na nasa metal tin po. Mas mahal nga lang compared dyan pero halos same lang. Totoo maganda yung O.win hehe. Medyo hesitant ako bilhin yun nung una kasi wala halos review. Maganda sya gamitin for doodling di ka manghihinayang sa paints since mura sya tas vibrant pa 👍👍👍
I have never heard of these paints before. They look pretty good and the color selection really isn't bad. I mean, yes, 5 greens are excessive and I would also prefer something different, like a turqoise as you mentioned, but it's still a good selection. And then considering that these paints are very affordable - wow. It continues to amaze me how many decent but cheap watercolors there are available nowadays.
@@AllanJayQuesada Of course they are. As soon as non-chinese companies enter the chinese market and start producing their stuff over there, their recipes get stolen and copied and suddenly tons of cheaper chinese alternatives pop up everywhere. This happened with Winsor & Newton and many other brands, as well as tech brands of course. It's based on corporate theft, basically. Oh well, as long as I get good alternatives for cheaper, I don't really mind.
@Oozaru85 same thoughts. Thr market goes crazy and favors the one who's willing to beyond limits, whether it's good or bad. But yeah, end of it, as long as it's good and cheap, we're good.
checkout the aliexpress link in my description box if the price is acceptable for an overseas item.. but yes, you have a nice Pretty Excellent paint with you, so just enjoy them for the mean time. :)

Hi. 😉 Yes, everything here is handdrawn/manually drawn. I prefer it be manual. During my 1st reviews, I used to draw pencil lines to for the grids. Now, after reviewing atleast 60 sets of paints, my hands have already mastered the drawing the squares im freehand. Hehe

Hi. All are good paints. But among all that you've mentioned, Sonnet is the only one which provides pigment codes, and they come in full pans. The only disadvantage of Sonnet is that it doesn't have a sturdy container. You'll need to transfer them in a better container in time. But paints are generally more reliable.

@@AllanJayQuesada ewan ko nga bat ganun.. Ang isang half pan ay may laman 2ml lang tapos mga nasa P220 yata ang halfpan ng Holbein... Then yung 15ml nila nasa P235 lang.. Langya ano yun lokohan? Para yung mismong lalagyan na pan ang nagpamahal sa kanya hindi yung pintura mismo hahahaha

Question, I purchased this set of 24, love them, thank you I want to identify 6 colors in this set that are similar to the Daniel Smith essentials mixing set to make those mixing charts etc. Can you help with that, the warm and cool blues and yellow etc. Is that a good idea or get the Daniel Smith mixing set? thank you and keep the content coming, I think everyone enjoys your videos
One of the reason why i compliment this set is because it has thr cool and the warms of primaries. But if ofcourse you have the means to get DS, i will really recommend getting it as it is the highest in quality band is sure to last. The cools andbthe warms are sequenced as follows: dark yellow and lemon yellow Vermilion and rose red Ulttamarine and phthalo blue 😉
Planning to buy a new watercolor set other than prang and na mention nyo po na semi moist sya. Can I ask po kung comparable sya sa prang in terms of their stickyness? Kasi may times po na if na parami ng pigment sa prang is nagiging sticky ung paint and ganun rin po ba yang o.win? Really want a new wc na cheaper and maganda quality but doesn't have that stickyness compare to prang. Thank you po

Dear Allan, I noticed a lot brand set comes with a lot greens. I dont remember the brand I was looking and but the set came with 6 green paints. I believe cheaper set need to eliminate one or two of the green for an additional Yellow and or PB36 or turquoise; what do you think?
In my observation, many Asian brands include more than enough greens in sets. Also, many cheap brands put many greens that are mixed from multiple Pigments. I think they do that mainly for economical use. Convenience mixes of greens are usually cheaper to produce. Turquoise is a good addition too and yellows. But these colors are a bit harder to produce specially genuine turquoise.
I'm not sure where they limited their distribution to, but another Idea i jave is that they may have discontinued this and developed another set. This is also a Paul Rubens product, and theyre so used to making new sets to be always "fresh" in the market.
@@AllanJayQuesada Not sure. They still seem to be available on the asian market, however. Too bad, really. Would've liked to try them out. I'm quite happy with my Sonnet watercorlors (St. Petersburg), but I'd like to try out some other budget palettes for my sketchbooks.

I think there's a chance that they're the same, considering the manufacturers provided the same swatches. Although i saw slight difference in hew, the texture and performance are pretty similar.😊 And your English is just fine. 😉
Hi. Would please do a review of Aquafine Daler-Rowney 18>=colors? I am considering to get one, but I am not sure about it since the pelikan's performance covered by your review demonstrated be a regular watercolor and Ive heard around that aquafine is similar (or better) to pelikan. I would always advice to get the best you can comfortably afford. Budget parin ang main consideration. So if you have a specific budget, i can mention sets. If you watch my latest reviews, the comparison portion will show you a handful of selection, and halos naka arrange yun from worst to best. 😉
Pan sets from the top brands in my comparison portions are the best (aside from those which I haven't reviewed yet, but are also great) . You'll never go wrong with these brands' pan sets/hand poured sets: Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Holbein, Mission Gold, Sennelier, Da Vinci.

I got mine , a red one, 2 months ago. Bought it because I was curious on how comparable is it to my other set - the Pretty Excellent as they both are from the same company, but this one is waaaay cheaper than PE.
Since this is inexpensive and considered a crafty set, I don't have much concern on the lightfastness. For those who do commission works, or wish to display their arts on the wall, better get a professional grade paints.

Loved this info on these new paints. My favourite bit is when you do the comparison with other pallets I always learn something or maybe you just jog the old memory. I use superior paints quite a bit I love the brightness you get with them, will wait for the next video on the bigger set of O.Win to see what you think of them although I’m very tempted to buy them as these paints are so pretty and I love how bright they are. actually, more than a lifetime. Ive made 160 paintings with only my 36 half pans of Daniel Smith, and still there paints left. :)

That is not the main issue. Lol. My room is a mess. Hahaha. Like literally a stereotype artist room. Lol but yes, it's bme resolution tob fix everything so that it would be atleast presentable and more friendly for working. Hehe. About the collection tour, i got tons of paints, my floor space is not literally enough if i had to spread them down.. ao i need to sytematize it too. Plus, i still have paints coming and paints from the christmas shoppibg that i hadnt opened yet.. so in short, i need to settle my things first. Hahaha. But I feel the excitement already doing your suggestions. ☺️ Please be patient in my older videos (2018 to early 2019), they're super low quality, unedited/poorly edited and full of errr. Haha. Yess, DaVinci paints. I have 12 37mls and 12 15mls. I love them, and also some of my followers here have tried them because ive poured in pans and sold aome sets in my store. Unfortunately, i have not done any lightfastness test.. i want to do it all at the same time, so i need a free week to do that. i have reviewed the higher grade set of this, please check it out,.. though sadly it doesn't give the pigment codes.. so, I'm not expecting it to really last until of course we conduct our own tests.
Allan, thank you for the review. I have Paul Ruben's watercolors similar to the moist Russian Sonnet watercolors. I like them as well as Superior. I do not think Shopee ships to the USA.

I think I've seen that being reviewed by another artist here on TH-cam, Frugal Crafter if I'm not mistaken.. i wonder why paul Rubens has to repackage the Sonnet paints for their line when they make some good and affordable themselves.. hmm. @@AllanJayQuesada I am not sure about the repackaging either. I have Russian paints purchased about 20 years ago. They are just as moist and ready to go comparable to the Paul Ruben I purchased a few months ago.

Hahaha. I'm sorry to make you regret. But Superior is still affordable and great paints. Just enjoy using it and when you finish that set, then you may explore more brands.. 😉
I would exchange one of the violets to a cerulean blue. With that you gain a beautiful bright blue for painting the sky and with emerald you can mix turquoise. You can also mix the violet. 🙂
Id love to have a genuine cerulean too, but im afraid that would make the set expensive. for that id probably just mix phthalo blue with white as a close alternative.
@@AllanJayQuesada I meant that color switch theoretically, reflecting on what you have said around 14:10, having a turquoise in exchange to the yellow green. Turquoise you can mix but cerulean blue you cannot. If you mix phthalo blue with white you'll get a semi-opaque blue, not a transparent one.
I wouldn't think a transparent cerulean blue would make the palette so much more expensive. 😉

@@AllanJayQuesada Oh yes, definitely. Green really seems to be the universal Christmas colour ^^' My family's kind of a bit more on the traditional side when it comes to Christmas, so ours is always chock full with evergreens,.gold, reds, cream white and plain warm white lights :3

hi Fatima and Dayang. sorry if i couldn't attend to each question right away as I got many, and they come in random in the day and also i have work too. well, better late than never, so here I am. 😉
for me, chalky means literally like chalk. like 5he paints don't stick well on paper even when dry, that they dry like soft powder and transfer to the next page or smudge on your finger.. that's how i understand chalky, and so far, i haven't experienced that yet at O. Win. i did a chalky test, but for some reason, (my bad) it wasn't included in this video. that might have elominated the doubts, but yes i can confirm, it's not chalky in mh experince. there are other factors though that may make a paint chalky, even if itnis already on a Daniel Smith level.. that could be a very low quality paper or very thick paint application. watercolors, traditionally should be used thinly or in light layers so, this should also be observed. i hope ive answered your question well. 🙏

I have the O.win watercolors na nasa metal tin po. Mas mahal nga lang compared dyan pero halos same lang. Totoo maganda yung O.win hehe. Medyo hesitant ako bilhin yun nung una kasi wala halos review. Maganda sya gamitin for doodling di ka manghihinayang sa paints since mura sya tas vibrant pa 👍👍👍

I have never heard of these paints before. They look pretty good and the color selection really isn't bad. I mean, yes, 5 greens are excessive and I would also prefer something different, like a turqoise as you mentioned, but it's still a good selection. And then considering that these paints are very affordable - wow. It continues to amaze me how many decent but cheap watercolors there are available nowadays.

As soon as non-chinese companies enter the chinese market and start producing their stuff over there, their recipes get stolen and copied and suddenly tons of cheaper chinese alternatives pop up everywhere. This happened with Winsor & Newton and many other brands, as well as tech brands of course. It's based on corporate theft, basically.
Oh well, as long as I get good alternatives for cheaper, I don't really mind.
@Oozaru85 same thoughts. Thr market goes crazy and favors the one who's willing to beyond limits, whether it's good or bad. But yeah, end of it, as long as it's good and cheap, we're good.

Hi. 😉 Yes, everything here is handdrawn/manually drawn. I prefer it be manual. During my 1st reviews, I used to draw pencil lines to for the grids. Now, after reviewing atleast 60 sets of paints, my hands have already mastered the drawing the squares im freehand. Hehe

Hi. All are good paints. But among all that you've mentioned, Sonnet is the only one which provides pigment codes, and they come in full pans. The only disadvantage of Sonnet is that it doesn't have a sturdy container. You'll need to transfer them in a better container in time. But paints are generally more reliable.

One of the reason why i compliment this set is because it has thr cool and the warms of primaries. But if ofcourse you have the means to get DS, i will really recommend getting it as it is the highest in quality band is sure to last. The cools andbthe warms are sequenced as follows:
dark yellow and lemon yellow
Vermilion and rose red
Ulttamarine and phthalo blue

Planning to buy a new watercolor set other than prang and na mention nyo po na semi moist sya. Can I ask po kung comparable sya sa prang in terms of their stickyness? Kasi may times po na if na parami ng pigment sa prang is nagiging sticky ung paint and ganun rin po ba yang o.win? Really want a new wc na cheaper and maganda quality but doesn't have that stickyness compare to prang. Thank you po

Dear Allan, I noticed a lot brand set comes with a lot greens. I dont remember the brand I was looking and but the set came with 6 green paints. I believe cheaper set need to eliminate one or two of the green for an additional Yellow and or PB36 or turquoise; what do you think?
In my observation, many Asian brands include more than enough greens in sets. Also, many cheap brands put many greens that are mixed from multiple Pigments. I think they do that mainly for economical use. Convenience mixes of greens are usually cheaper to produce. Turquoise is a good addition too and yellows. But these colors are a bit harder to produce specially genuine turquoise.
Sadly I cannot find these anywhere. Are they even being sold in Europe? Or do they sell them under a different brand here? Hmm.
I'm not sure where they limited their distribution to, but another Idea i jave is that they may have discontinued this and developed another set. This is also a Paul Rubens product, and theyre so used to making new sets to be always "fresh" in the market.
@@AllanJayQuesada Not sure. They still seem to be available on the asian market, however. Too bad, really. Would've liked to try them out. I'm quite happy with my Sonnet watercorlors (St. Petersburg), but I'd like to try out some other budget palettes for my sketchbooks.

In terms of colors and quality of watercolor, which watercolor would you suggest po to someone upgrading their set of watercolors? I've been thinking about choosing between Shinhan, Holbein and Paul Rubens po for Artist grade.
Among those 3, if I'm to choose, id go with Holbein. 😉

I think there's a chance that they're the same, considering the manufacturers provided the same swatches. Although i saw slight difference in hew, the texture and performance are pretty similar.😊 And your English is just fine. 😉

Hi. Would please do a review of Aquafine Daler-Rowney 18>=colors? I am considering to get one, but I am not sure about it since the pelikan's performance covered by your review demonstrated be a regular watercolor and Ive heard around that aquafine is similar (or better) to pelikan. I would always advice to get the best you can comfortably afford. Budget parin ang main consideration. So if you have a specific budget, i can mention sets. If you watch my latest reviews, the comparison portion will show you a handful of selection, and halos naka arrange yun from worst to best. 😉

Pan sets from the top brands in my comparison portions are the best (aside from those which I haven't reviewed yet, but are also great) . You'll never go wrong with these brands' pan sets/hand poured sets: Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Holbein, Mission Gold, Sennelier, Da Vinci.

Hiii. Please watch at 7:51 where I compared some halfpans along with owin. Superior is halfpan lang din dba.. Even smaller than a standard halfpan pa nga so superior eh. So basically, medyo mas maraming laman itong owin Kasi palapad siya. Plus watch that comparison part para Makita mo mabuti ☺️
