    It is her husband in the video. She wrote the song for him.
    She sings live in her concerts. Her voice is amazing. She has duets with many worldstars like Andrea Bocelli, Tom Jones, Robby Williams, Michael Bolton and many more. Her concerts are phanomenal. With acrobatics and dance.
    Her biggest concert was in front of 130000 people.
    Two of my favorits:
    The song "Achterbahn" on her concert in Hamburg

    Good morning Tazzz, as I saw, everything worked out with YT. My little introduction to "Schlagermusik". Now "Hurrikan" by Electric Callboy should actually follow, at some point you'll understand why.
    I don't have much time this morning, but I'll tell you this much in advance: She is a trained acrobat and has also trained as a musical actress. She is one of the most successful singers in the world, but her success is limited to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other German-speaking areas of Europe. She is not known outside of that.
    She is known for this type of show, which is not without danger. She is known for the meticulous preparation of her performances, but the tour had to be postponed due to a serious injury during tour rehearsals. She also injured herself during a performance during the tour. By the way, she trained very intensively with Cirque du Soleil in preparation. So your description was correct. It is the first time I have seen elaborate water shows on stage.

      @@tazzznphilly Hi Tazzz, I wanted to tell you a few things about what you heard and saw in the video. I have to think about how I write comments in the future, as I have already written a long text and thanks to neurology (irony) I lost control of my typing hands and accidentally deleted the text. I don't feel able to tackle it all again today. I will tell you at a later date what Schlager is, why it divides the Teutonic music camp and why ballads can very well be Schlager.
      I can't say much about her life. The yellow press here is full of it, but it annoys me so much that I consciously ignore it.
      Helene has a huge fan base here and so I would have liked a bit more support for the video. Disappointing. But I'll still give you two song tips from some really spectacular performances of hers. Small remark. That was definitely not a Schlager, but a ballad, but in general she doesn't do Schlager anymore really. It's more like just Pop by now. Her older songs are Schlager.
    Regarding to her acrobatics, she learned to be a musical actress without any acrobatic training. In 2008 however she was invited to a TV show where celebrities do circus acts and she did some basic acrobatics, nothing wild. In the next years in some of her performances on tour she did it and in her own show that she has annually since 2011, except for 2020-2022, for obvious reasons. It was for her 2017-2018 tour that she asked Cirque du Soleil to help her create and do a tour to reach a new standard and this is where she learned some more advanced acrobatics. It's funny that you mentioned it, but this is where she performed with this man for the first time. He wasn't her teacher, "just" an acrobat that performed for and with her, but of course he teached her a bit for their performance. To make it somewhat short from here on, both left their partners after that tour and since 2021 they are married and parents and they didn't have bad relationships, they were very happy with their partners before, they just helplessly fell in love with each other. Helene's partner was the host of Germany's biggest Schlager shows, in one of which she had her very debut and they were a couple since 2008 and something like THE couple in at least Germany's Schlager scene, maybe even THE couple of Germany as a whole, debatable since Schlager is controversial with public perception. Helene however is without a doubt Germany's biggest singer since 2013. Where it get's even more spicy is that Thomas' partner was a dancer for Helene since 2011 or 2012 and both got a lot of backlash for that. But I think by now those people, at least most of them, have noticed that this couple was destiny, like Helene described it herself at some point. To give some insight to that song at the end maybe. I wouldn't say she sings about her last relationship being a bad one, she is still close friends with her former partner Florian, Thomas' partner completely distanced herself from him I guess, unfortunately, but sometimes you have to take a hard decision, in Thomas' place that is. She sings about her love fading away while still wanting it to remain. It's not really clear, in reality, if she simply stopped loving Florian because of their relationship itself or because she fell in love with Thomas. It didn't help that Florian didn't propose to her after 10 years relationship when Helene was one of the most popular women in Germany. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Thomas was engaged to his partner, which probably is why she is so hurt that they have no contact anymore, which is quite understandable, but not any less unfortunate for him.
    Oh, and yes, she was singing live which you can spot with the little imperfections that wouldn't be there if it was playback for sure.
    And another thing yesterday it was the first of 2 days of recording for her own show that airs on 25th. Today her former partner Florian is suppossed to be a guest. Her husband did perform there with her in 2017 as well.

    Hello TAZZZ! :-)
    Please read my comment completely, it's going to be very long!!! Because I will try to explain from my perspective, that of a young at heart and feeling young, “old white German man” with European DNA, the difficult to explain attitude of the Germans towards their music after the Second World War until today!
    ---
    On the one hand: the difference due to the 6th post-war generations:
    1933-'48 (too young to understand the time in which one grew up);
    1948-'63 (too young to understand what the founding of the “FRG” meant);
    1964-'74 (growing up without “conservative autocracy” for the first time);
    1974-'89 (To give Britisch country a lot of "credit" for the future of there society!! - Helmut Schmidt, our then “Kir Starmer”, becomes Federal Chancellor in 1974!!);
    1989-'05 (A wonderful beginning of 16 economically and politically terrible years for our German society! The sad economic annexation of East German society by the conservative policies of Chancellor 'Helmut Kohl', up to the economic destruction and almost enslavement of the workers the “social policy” of SPD Chancellor “Schröder” and the formation of the so-called “Agenda 2010” policy! From ’05 onwards, this was implemented even more destructively by the once again conservative Chancellor “Mutti” Merkel!);
    2005-'18 ("Agenda 2010" + the awakening of the Internet, the emergence of "social media" + financial crisis '08/09 + Fukushima 2011 consequences and the founding of - !ONLY THEN! - arch-economic-conservative party called a-f-d ! + the ignorance that this planet can defend itself against the “VIRUS HUMAN”!)!
    The current 7th post-war generation is growing up under the catastrophic consequences of this ignorance...!
    ---
    On the other hand: in terms of the understanding that has grown out of it, of the different musical directions!
    -
    In Germany, music in other languages is divided and rated according to its musical style! German-language music, on the other hand, is classified by many, even in the 4th (even some of the 5th) post-war generations, as "SCHLAGER"!
    -
    If you were to translate the word “SCHLAGER” literally, you would have to say “slaying” in the positive sense! Analogously, “SCHLAGER” means “HIT”!!!!
    -
    In the '50s, German-language music was important for the tormented soul and brought a break from the hard everyday life!
    -
    In 1960, the last pre-war born turned 21 and the first post-war born turned 15!
    -
    The period from 1964 to 1969 is known as the “boomer years” in Germany. To date, these are the years with the highest birth rates ever in Germany [between 2029 & 2036 around 19,5MILLION employees will retire here, that's almost 40% of the current working population in Germany!]!
    -
    '60s) The Beatles came to Hamburg and the first generation who wanted to talk openly about the "past" and be informed grew up and rebelled!
    This generation also expressed itself musically, especially in German! But in addition to the still many popular and distracting texts about love in all its forms and opinions [parents; Children; Partner...], there were the first content-critical texts!
    -
    '70s) At the beginning of the 1970s, with the increasing introduction of television sets in private households, the first open dispute broke out in the music industry! “Old white men” had the power [It's funny that 4 generations later these critics of the 2nd post-war generation are so insulted!] who wanted to continue making money with "sweet", "heartbreak" & "love songs"! But the “young people” [21 to 30 year olds at the time] fought back and managed to make “their” music! They only succeeded in doing this in German!
    Sometime between the mid-1960s and the mid-1970s, the term “Schlager” became established and was henceforth used for almost all German-language song lyrics!
    -
    With two exceptions!
    1) “Folk music” [based on imperial marching music and really the smallest and regionally related folk & language-historical “DNA”!
    2) German-language “Chanson”! Represented by artists like “Reinhard Mey”!
    -
    I started school in 1973.
    From the end of the '60s until well into the beginning of the '80s, two music formats were mandatory on TV [ZDF]!!
    "The Hit Parade", where only German was allowed to be sung until the end of the '80! And "Disco", where one after the other "ZZ-Top"; Michael Holm; Abba; Marianne Rosenberg; CliffRichard; Peter Maffay; Kim Wild; Blondie; Nana Mouskourie...[you get the idea!], performed. If you didn't know EVERYONE's new songs during the "big break" on Monday, after the second hour of class, you were unpopular. No matter if “POP”; "SCHLAGER" or "METAL" it was the product that was rated and not the music style!
    -
    Until the beginning of the '90s, the 'ESC' (then 'Grandprix') was as important as a European or World Football Championship in Germany!
    The German was once again proud of his German "Liedgut" in all its forms!
    -
    My generation was the third post-war generation, the second to rebel musically, but the first to "get lost" in their work in the end! And yet the years of the “NEW DEUTSCHE WELLE” [NDW] were important and are still loved and hyped 40 years later, right up to the fifth post-war generation! But the "wave" that lasted just 7 years was abruptly ended by the third century event, and the first positive! The fall of the Berlin wall!
    -
    The Federal Republic of Germany, with around 63 million inhabitants, grew by almost 17 million GDR citizens in 1990 to 80 million and two societies that have grown for over 40 years should have to grow together immediately!
    -
    Germany became even more economically interesting, especially in the music business! But the focus turned more and more to English!
    -
    With the exception of the 'core segment' of the "SCHLAGERBRANCHE"! Which became quieter and referred to its roots, but was still hugely profitable!
    -
    At the end of the "NDW" Generation "Z" ['87-'03/'89-'05] was born! This Gen-Z, at a very young age, persuaded their parents' generation to 'change' German, German-language music at the end of the '90s and the beginning of the '00s! They caused some late-born members of my generation and the fourth post-war generation to rebel again! That in two, no, three directions!
    Firstly, people remembered: "THE GOOD OLD 'DISCO' TIME" of their parents and tolerated German-language music, in all its forms, just as much as English music!
    Secondly, there was another attempt to 'express' oneself in German!
    And thirdly, genres of music that were only known in English were used for the first time [e.g. The 'FANTA 4']!
    ---
    But with the change of the century, the millennium! The awakening of the Internet [the industrial revolution of the 21st century, as compared to the beginning of the 20th]! The ever-growing gap in understanding between the previous generation(s), and conversely this living previous generation and yours, is responsible for something irreparably broken due to the ongoing technical evolution explosion!
    The necessary respect for what post-war generations learned and created in 7 decades of world war-free peace!
    -
    Especially in the music scene in Germany, there has been almost no respect for cross-genre and cross-generational art in music for at least 15 years!!!
    -
    And I include myself as part of the problem! Without a 'Julien Bam', this "series-addicted boomer" still wouldn't accept German rap as a musical art to be respected! Which doesn't mean you [I] have to 'like' it!
    ---
    If you've made it this far - THANK YOU - Please keep doing 'your thing' and stay as you are!
    We Germans of every generation love it when someone tries to “understand us Germans”!!! Because then we can learn something about ourselves...

    This is kinda like being a hip-hop fan and thinking MCHammer was the GOAT. Feel like i have to tell you, sorry. (PS: Schlager is like the equevilant of "cheap standard country music in the US. a lot of people like, but...)

      I would say its matter of opinion. I personally LOVED Mc Hammer - when it came to music to make you wanna get up and dance, and also his awesome dancing skills. Now, lyrically he sucked. 🤣
      So, TO ME, he was 2/3 GOAT.
      Thanks for describing schlager. Being American, I didnt even know what that meant. I know I read part of that in a little bio snippet I found on Google. That's why I prefer learning about musicians within the comment, versus Google, so I dont do heavy research.
