Thanks Sam I really appreciate you videoing this, and putting in the hours with the editing, for us to enjoy. I also really appreciate you laidback and laconic style. Ian
Glad you enjoyed it!
Legend !
What a cool country we live in just wish I had time to explore you are lucky 👍🏾
Great video, I'm planing on doing the same track early next year.
Looking forward to next installment.
😊 Great video matey. Apart from AT's, sump guard & snorkel, what other mods have you done for off roading on the ol' Subie?
Thanks! It's also got a 40mm lift installed and a rear LSD. Fortunately this one also came out with the VTD centre diff which helps alot.
Great work on this. I just bought a new fortuner and took it through the same route. It’s a hell of a lot rougher now mate…. Maybe you weren’t running your video on some of the more extreme parts. Low range used a fair bit esp on that final descent!
Love what you've done with your subie sam aye i should have done the same thing with my wrx 😆
Great vid Sam, this will go on the bucket list.
Epic Sam and BUGGER, BUGGER, BUGGER.. I was there not long after you and being solo, on my first SI trip and a bit cautious I opted out of the trip. I am going down roughly same time next year so will give a crack. I'd prefer to do it with company though. If your are doing it again let us know.
Oh that is a bugger. I'm not sure when I'll get down there next year, but its definitely part of my plan.
Hey mate awesome video thanks for sharing! Reckon this is doable in a wildtrak ranger with duratrac mudtyres, but no snorkel and factory suspension? Thanks heaps!
Yeah you'll have no trouble. The crossing isn't that deep. Just double check the line. There was an easier line than I took.
What tyres were you running on that trip? What pressures were you using?
Did I see you in a video heading Far North in a Suzuki recently (July 2024)?
Definitely adding this one to the list! Nice video mate.
A great drive Andy, doable in a day but I'd recommend spending a night at one of the huts and exploring the side tracks. The drive down Mt Kyeburn is spectacular but very steep, probably wouldn't do it without low range.
@@kiwizookoffroad2040 sounds like a job for the SF Forester then!
@@RumbleOverland now that's an idea! Would go down there fine
It was doable without low range but definitely hard on the brakes. If you have the option low range is way better. But yeah I agree with @kiwizookoffroad stay in one of the huts and enjoy the place. It's awesome in there.
Is your subi the 2.4 or 3l.
Great videos. Good to see a SW can do just as well as an suv
It's the 2.5l 4cyl, and it always surprised me where it will go
What an amazing drive! What sort of ground clearance do you have? Is it lifted at all?
Thanks! I can't remember what it measures in at, but yes it has lift springs in it which raises it about 35mm over stock. Also has slightly larger tyres.
Good one Swampchook
Hey mate, what time of the year were you in there? I'm looking at going through mid-April (after easter)
This was in January. Mid April is usually pretty good though as long as there hasn't been too much rain.
bring your L300 to Adventure. We love L300 come back.
