As a kid i thought it was so awesome how he wanted to help her achieve her dreams. Looking back at this as an adult, he was singing a love song. Miss Price had given up on love, so she didn't think for a moment about that deeper meaning at the time.
one thing i love about this movie is that it gave david tomlinson a chance to really show off his talents. he didn't have the opportunity for that in mary poppins.
I could totally picture being like her when I get older. She's awesome, and this whole scene is funny and brilliant. I love this! Stuck in my head for over a decade!
@@jasonchambers9914 yeah when they originally made the film it was close to 2 and a half hours and they had to get it under 2 so they cut out most of the songs, but they restored the movie to its original for its 30th anniversary

I love the chemistry between David Tomlinson and Angela Lansbury! :) It's really funny when Mr. Browne just prances around and Miss Price is so serious! :)) My favorite lines start from 1:49 - 2:08 They just work well together!
I always find the contrast of this guy between this movie and Mary Poppins funny In Mary Poppins he played a no-nonsense father, while in this movie he wants to have fun

"Don't Let Me Down" was always on the soundtrack, but it was cut after the film's debut and not reinstated until 1996. I fully understand why Portobello Road was lopped down, but this and "Step in the Right Direction" never should've been removed.

One of my favorite movies by far. Used to watch it as a kid and eveb now it is still entertaining an an adult. So sad that it doesn't get the recognition I deserves
Why on earth did they cut most of this song, it makes a lot more sense this way - I always wondered why she turned him into a rabbit ? It wasn't very clear in the original cut of the film
+KaydeyRai I actually like that they leave it a little vague - we don't need to see the specifics to know that he spun her some kind of show-biz, glitz-and-glamour plan, and she had to transform him to get him to listen.
I have the movie in full and much better quality. however, part of this scene is still cut from back in the 1980's on the Disney Channel. So I will have to edit the rest of it into it. Ugh!
What if Cody from The Rescuers Down Under (1990) was with Esmeralda and Phoebus's son Zephyr in The Hunchback of Notre Dame II (2002) and Wendy's daughter Jane in Peter Pan II: Return to Never Land (2002)?
Step in the right direction had to be cut as Disney lost the footage from it. It's a real shame as it's such a great song and would have been great in the movie.
In the version i watched in Australia as a kid - this song was cut completely. When the film was re-issued in 1996 half of the song was reinstated. Having watched this clip I have now seen the other 2nd half of the song that was cut further.
Movies like this were from a better time in mass media. Now Disney has been drowned by their teen rock stars. It's a shame. But at least we have these classics to look back on
Though I 100% agree. How could they possibly make a film like this now?? It would sadly be impossible. Even if they tried theyre hardest ppl would complain about the actors used. This is a film that will live in our memories. Always will. As a great.

RIP Angela, may you and David entertain others with your gifts with this classical masterpiece forever.
