I challenge you to watch the last live video they dropped for their song Angel Eyes. That way you get to see their other side. The bassist Josh mixed it. Sounds incredible. Courtney goes full beast mode.
The best word I can use to describe Courtney specifically is captivating. She just pulls you in and everything else goes away. My song recommendation (which is their first release)is called The Beauty of Suffering. It showcases her harsh vocals as well as her true voice and Mike's brilliance as a composer. Cheers!
Courtney writes the lyrics and the majority of the vocal melodies. Mike, the guitarist, writes pretty much everything else. This is actually the first album to include everyone in the band on a recording because Spiritbox, maintaining their independent mindset, do as much on the cheap as possible meaning Mike wrote and recorded every instrument (until now). Josh, the bass player, also is finally contributing his killer vocals in a big way. Now go check out one of their heavier songs like the recent Soft Spine, or check her out live on the pro-shot Angel Eyes which shows off her insane live growls/screams.
Exactly what I was going to say. Courtney has very versatile vocals. She can sing beautifully then turn around and RIP your face off with the most brutal vocals. Soft Spine, Cellar Door and Holy Roller show off her harsh vocals. Another great video to check out is the live performance of Circle With Me where Tatiana from Jinjer joins them onstage. Another great female vocalist.
Spiritbox is great. Mike, the guitarist is great at edging toward being proggy without stepping over the line that can muddy a song. Zev, the drummer, is great at subtle but powerful drumming that perfectly compliments the songs. Josh, the bassist, lays down the perfect grooves and knows when to get chunky (and provides backing vocals). And of course, the queen of the metal scene, Courtney. This is a good showcase of her cleans, but if you want to see what she can do with harsh vocals, check out their live performance of Angel Eyes.
never watched you before but can tell you are a serious musician because you pick up on little details most reactors miss. everything you said is how i felt listening to perfect soul the first time. spiritbox this year released their first proshot concert videos for circle with me and soft spine and angel eyes. i think youd love seeing her do her thing live.
Holly Roller, Soft Spine, Circle with me live vocal one take are a must from Spiritbox. Soft Spine live with Poppy and Circle With Me Live with Tatiana from Jinger are great ones.
Ya these guys rip! They just did a live version of one of their songs with Tatiana from Jinjer. Live version of there song soft spine with Poppy, live version of their song Angel Eyes and check out Cellar Door (Just nominated for a best metal performance Grammy)
So you have seen Poppy with Knocked Loose, but Poppy has also joined Spiritbox on stage "Spiritbox - Soft Spine ft. Poppy - Live at Louder Than Life 2024" th-cam.com/video/C1UMck7le4g/w-d-xo.html (that same concert also featured Tati from Jinjer on one of the songs and as much as I would like to suggest that song you should really get the "Reactor Right of Passage" out of the way and go react to "JINJER - Pisces (Live Session) | Napalm Records" th-cam.com/video/SQNtGoM3FVU/w-d-xo.html and remember part of the RoP is to go in blind, don't listen to anything by them, don't look them up online, don't ask people about them. In fact you should go record that reaction as soon as you finish reading this comment, editing and posting can wait a few days.).
The harmonies in the chorus is done by Josh (formerly of As I Lay Dying).. He has been the best clean vocalist in metalcore for almost 20 years now and is such a great addition to Spiritbox. Please do more Spiritbox reactions, this was great
They are a band that perfectly blends heavy with melodic. I hope you go down their catalogue, I think you will find their music and sound very interesting and captivating. Courtney = vocalist is AMAZING. Mike Stringer = guitar is also incredible and is married to Courtney. Josh Gilbert = bass and backing vocals is from former As I Lay Dying. Zev Rosenberg = drums… DO MORE SPIRITBOX 🤘🏻🔥 Circle With Me, Holy Roller, Rule of Nines, Blessed Be, Jaded, Cellar Door, The Void, Angel Eyes, Ultraviolet, Rotoscope, Hurt You (Songs)
Spiritbox is a musician's band that can pull in the non-musician. You are in for a treat my friend. You check out Spiritbox and I'll check out City of Sound. I like what I'm hearing :)
Some great songs to check out are Sun Killer, The Void, Angel Eyes, Cellar Door and Jaded. All bangers and a good mix of different veins of Spiritbox’s sound
Spiritbox has a few live one take performances, there's also one with the song circle with me ft Tatiana Shmayluk another female vocalist from a different band its a huge performance by both of them.
This is something new to me. I like her voice a lot, cool song. I personally don’t mind if you stop the vid a lot, I enjoy when you explain things, professor J is cool. Also, I’ll have you know that I always care about what you have to say😁 P.S. I saw Ode of She rolling her eyes at the two minute song comment🙄
React to their song Blessed be...you will hear some of her vocal abilities plus another well directed video. They are an amazing band. Can be melodic, hard or both
I am absolutely here for your metalcore “reawakening.” There is so much cool stuff out there nowadays. I’m a sucker for new Bring Me The Horizon, personally.
@ I have seen the articles drop indicating that is the case. From what I understand, they’re just tired from touring and the last album. Hopefully it’s not too long because they’re easily one of the most fun and creative bands around the scene nowadays.

@@douglascalabrese8215 absolutely will do, super intrigued by that
Yes, Courtney's one-takes are impressive. My favourite of them is Circle With Me.
