Really enjoyed this; great advice on the clamps btw. You mentioned leather belt drive. My late grandad always rode bikes from 1920 till the early 70’s. He told me a leather belt snapped on him way back in the day; he made a get home repair to the belt using my gran’s hair clips; they were the days eh. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and thank you both for keeping me entertained everyday; know that your appreciated. Neil
When you put THA MAN on the case, STUFF HAPPENS. Lol!!! Every motorcycle shop in the country needs at least one tech in their midst EXACTLY like you. What a world of humming motorcycles that would be. You dare to go the extra mile. Stay safe and attempt to stay warm and dry👍🏽
I'm glad you were able to see the problem firsthand and fix it right the first time before releasing it to the customer! You see stuff Noone else thinks it's important. Like you said, fuel and electric wiring is a recipe for potential problems. What's the deal? Gravity fed isn't good enough any more? Guess not with fuel injection the new fad. Where's the place for the fire extinguisher in case everything goes south? Just teasing!! BMW should make for a visual inspection of the fuel pump at least every other service when they bring em in for oil changes. That way they know they're operating safely.
Cool vlog…wondering what tool you use for those oetiker clamps. Great advice on making sure they are in the right place. Love they tips you give, have a good one.👍
Caught up! At least until you post today. My RT is that year. I had the fuel pump recall done. The only mistake the dealer made was chipping the paint on my front fender, the size of a half dollar. They had it repainted, but I have to wonder what happened. As far as the o rings, it's a you might as well when doing that work. I replace mine every so many years. As far as sketchy handling, IDK. I thought it is pretty good. Maybe I need to try a newer one.
Details, details, the devil is in the detail. Good catch Shawn. Now, as to that PA, when's she coming home? 😉 You and momma have a good evening and pet the puppers for me. God bless, Rob
Regarding the Pan America. It is a great bike. I had one, but also had a R1250GS. When compared side by side, the BMW was a better option FOR ME! (Others can have their own opinions, I am fine with that.) I traded the PA for a Road Glide. I still have the BMW in the stable. They each have a different purpose, and I am in-love with both. Being a Harley guy, I have wondered how long before a PAS is in your stable... The biggest advantage of the PA over the BMW is when/if you need service. The nearest BMW is a couple of hours away and they are booked up for almost two months in advance. The Harley shop is about 15 miles away and I can usually get an appointment within a week unless it is an emergency.
NOt sure if this is the same problem I have on my 2007 R1200RT. leakage comes from a micro-fracture on that starts on the left side mounting hole of the control module. The bike was serviced by BMW and the seals were exposed, poor craftmanship... I not sure if it is your same problem. i mean micro fractures coming from the mounting holes.... there is a possibility that the screw was overtorqued and thus created strees on the plastic until finally cracked

Smoak if your garage was a little larger I could see that Harley following you home
You guys have a wonderful evening

There's a special plier for them. Modern water line fittings for sinks and such use them too.

Good catch on that clamp. That's why you're the Master. 👍 Peace and love.

Perfect👌 Thanks Walter!! 👍
@@TheSmoaksVlogs Happy Thanksgiving Shawn. 😊
😊👏
It's still amazing all the tech in modern motorcycles. You professionals must have to do constant training.
