Exactly. This is not the kind of person you want in a position of power. He already thinks he’s above the law just for running. Plus he mentions his son being a cop as if that too makes it acceptable to speed and text while driving.

Any time I got the “Do you know who I am” thing on a traffic stop I usually ignored it. If the violator pushed it I’d tell them I would know as soon as I read the info on their license & ran a wanted check. The world is full of these immature, entitled jerks.
I noticed his intimidating behavior was escalated when alone with the female officer. He bullied her. When the male officers arrived his use of intimidation de-escalated. He talked to them like they were all members of a boy's club and should show that female she was lesser. The male officers seemed to play into that, maybe in an effort appease or to de-escalate. He even walked to the side of the road which he refused to do when asked by the female officer. He also did not threaten the jobs of the male officers. This man clearly resents women with power and probably women in general. He feels he has the right to bully women to get his way and men should keep women in their place. Wonder if he is divorced? The female officer held her own and did her job with dignity. The driver has no dignity.
It's still a large part of the patriarchy. So many seem to think it's ok to raise a boy that way and then wonder why the world if fd up. Even woman allow this to continue. My mother did , all my female teacher did. And I've seen woman get so mad when ya say boys need to be raised to not abuse woman and how we all need to take a look at how we treat our boy over our girls. I've been chuffed at just for saying that by woman. Sad really, sad.
In the original video Hyde says he “couldn’t care less about the speed limit” that automatically shows his sense or entitlement. And questioning someone’s immigrant states when he himself is an immigrant is laughable.
He is likely just as anti-Semitic as Latvians themselves are. Tries to infuriate this particular J€wess so that he later would have grounds for confronting her in court.
The traffic officer’s Sargent didn’t do her any favors by simply saying that he’ll “deal with it”. He should have at least stood up for her. He only coddled the asshat, while undercutting his own officer. It did nothing to challenge his egotistical treatment of her, and only left him feeling justified. BS.
He didn't exactly what happened and the police actually should try to calm situations to avoid it getting worse. They're supposed to prevent crime, not provoke it. No doubt, they have met people like this before.
As a 20 year retired officer, I can truthfully say I was never "trained to dominate" anyone, any time. That being said, I quickly learned on the street that being a weak, hesitant, uncertain officer is a good way to get yourself hurt or killed, along with those working with you. A bit of unambiguous assertiveness, stern but fair, goes a long way to ensure that you go home at the end of the watch, and not to the hospital or morgue.
I literally watched this yesterday and was telling my son over dinner! Couldn't watch to the end as I wanted to punch him through my computer! That officer was outstanding and amazingly professional.
I just saw it too... nearly every single video the Dr posts is something I recently read or saw... I'm convinced he's subscribed to the same channels and/or shares the same interests. Especially bc it's not even always current events. It could be some old timey stuff that randomly crossed my mind and then BAM! It shows up in the feed from the good Dr.
The irony of this situation is that had he simply accepted the citations and quietly went on his way, this would have been something none of us would have heard about and he could have likely had he tickets "taken care of". But as Todd points out, this wasn't about the citations, it was about his ego.
@@AWMMars right! I was shocked that he kind of casually admitted speeding on purpose and on a daily basis. Let one of us say that and we never seeing that license again

@@Warriorcock6969 it is far from perfect and definitely needs work, but narcissism is a personality disorder. It's like clockwork how people with narcissistic traits act.
I find it funny narcissists often ask "don't you know who I am?" The answer is almost certainly going to be "no" which will just further hurt their ego. This is why I think body cams are a good idea: it shows when cops are doing the wrong thing but it also catches out people who provoke cops and lie about the cops behaviour.
Actually, I know someone who uses that phrase frequently and often. The result he ordinarily gets is that people immediately start catering to him- as if he might actually be a "somebody"... it WORKS- that's why he uses it. :)
Interesting analysis Dr. I once read in the Reader’s Digest about a man who was having an issue with an airline clerk about his ticket, and he had asked her if she knew who he was. Without missing a beat, she got on the microphone and announced “Attention, I have a gentleman here who doesn’t know who he is etc...”. Priceless 🤗
Yes, and that's the thing that chaps my *Hyde*: This guy gets impeccable treatment, while other members of our society would have gotten arrested, a beat down, and tased -- in that order. Who's to say this well-mannered officer didn't unleash her frustration of the next driver who didn't know her boss. What if George Floyd was the next guy after Martin Hyde?
Great analysis, Dr Grande. These self entitled people seriously bug me. I knew a police officer who gave the mayor of the town a ticket once. She started with that attitude and the officer said he didn't care WHO she was; she was breaking the law and should know better. And the police chief and City manager stood with the officer. It was great to see that.
Dr Grande's analyses are great, but I wish he would get rid of the "Today's question is, 'Can I analyse...'" thing he does at the beginning of every video. I don't think anyone is asking these questions. The doctor himself is picking the topics from the most trending TH-cam videos like every other TH-camr does. It is dishonest to give the impression that people are asking the doctor his professional opinion on these sensational cases.

I was a police officer, in different locales, for over 30 years. This kind of behavior toward cops by those who consider themselves the 'upper crust' is by no means unusual, but it was it's worst for the 20 years I was a cop in Hawaii, where the wealthy mainlander transplants treated not just the cops, but the local people who have called it home for generations like second-class citizens.

Oh my goodness, Mr. Hyde. I've watched this a few times in the last few days. He's so blatantly lying. Each telling of the story makes the honest cop sound even worse. So utterly entitled. And keeps pushing for 'special treatment' while 'not' demanding special treatment. Really hope this is the end of his 'life in politics'. So he's probably out of a job, and the cop will possibly get a better job by showing how conscientious she is.
I loved how the Supervisor kept telling Mr. Hyde that everything was, and is being recorded and we WILL sort this out. He says it several times and you can see the effect goes from reassuring to threatening but in the same placating tone.
"I support the police... Unless they're stopping me from being reckless" What's amazing is that he seems to get off easily and repeats his behaviors and ultimately the police department not holding him accountable could cost someone their life. That's what makes me so frustrated about how law enforcement works.
He didn't get off easily and he was held accountable. That's why he got 3 citations to pay and later apologized and admitted he had been in the wrong. Apparently he recognizes his inappropriate behavior when he stops to think about it, but can't seem to control himself while under the influence of his adrenaline.
In all due respect Dr Grande, I disagree with your views of this case. I have carefully studied the traffic stop in question, and in my educated opinion, I can confidently diagnose Martin Hyde as a MASSIVE PRICK!
This was the politest way to talk about a situation that is so impolite. I wonder if people like this can ever change, it does appear to be quite exhausting to act in this manner on a daily basis. Great analysis as usual, thank you Dr. Grande.❤️ On another note- your cactuses are growing beautifully. I remember how small they were when you first got them.🙂
When he said, "Do you know who I am?" She should have said, "Do YOU know your zipper is down, sir?" Because it was, during the entire 16 minute video of the incident. 🤣 It just made him look more like a moron. So funny. I have no idea how I noticed it, but, I did. 🤭
Another aspect that you didn’t touch on which I think played a part is the fact that this officer is female. Certainly not feeding into any victim mentality but I believe that played a major part in this narcissist’s power play.
Yeah, he calls her "girly" and tells the male cop that "she was disrespectful, and now we need to make sure she is punished" with a smirk. Absolute swine
Yes, it was quite obvious how Hyde's attitude changed towards the male officers. I find that Dr. Grande rarely talks about misogyny when it happens, maybe it is harder to spot for men since they are so used to it

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I watched the full video of this traffic stop and was appalled and frankly, sickened by the behavior exhibited toward this officer. I commend this officer for having the guts to do her job correctly... The EASY and "safe" thing to do would've been to drop it and walk away. But her commitment to her oath AND to the public was her priority, even in the face of intimidation and outright lies. In my opinion, your thoughts are absolutely 100% spot on. I don't think any analysis could have pegged this guy any more perfectly than you did. I had such a feeling of unresolved anger and injustice after viewing the body cam footage. But your video and analysis totally helped me to feel avenged on behalf of this brave young cop. THANK YOU!!
if someone asks you "do you know who I am?" just look sympathetic and ask out loud to anyone present if they know the person as they seem to be a little confused and don't know who they are. then ask the person who is supposed to be looking after them. stay calm and watch the meltdown. eventually they realise that you can not be flustered and will slink away
A critical element of the stop wasn't even mentioned, and that is at about 12:15 in the traffic stop video, Martin wants to know if his "friend" the sargeant can turn off the body cam. That's worse than "Do you know who I am?" It's shady behavior to want the camera turned off for his impending conversation with his "friend".
He’s the type of guy to justify cop shootings by saying things like “well he wouldn’t comply” and then go ahead and not comply himself because he knows nothing will happen to him.
Can you imagine CENTURIES IN WORLD HISTORY WHERE WOMEN ARE ABUSED LIKE THIS, AND THERE were no body cameras???!!!! We don't have to imagine it. Just honor the truth of how men as a collective have abused women and still do.
Hyde was also called out (and caught on video) for being his racist self when he berated a young Puerto Rican boy... he withdrew from a previous election after this event - this isn't his first rodeo. I experienced this once when I was waiting tables in a restaurant. Except in my case it was the mother of the person whom I "should have known." I think it must have been a rapper or musician of some kind, but he himself was just curling up while his mother was saying "do you know who he is," while I just looked at him and was like, "no, I don't think we've ever met." It was a person with this behavior in a group of people who reacted with embarrassment for her behavior. It was interesting.
His registration was out of date. His answer to that was 'so what! I can sort it out in 2 minutes' So we don't need insurance road tax until we're stopped... then we can arrange them on mobile phone in 2 minutes & all while driving. 🤔

@Old Cop ... That's exactly what I used to say when driver's asked me that question ... lol!

The officer should get an award for standing up to this man, It is her boss Police Chief was a friend of this man that came to the area of the problem the Chief should be investigated for not defending his police officer doing her job for protecting the public.
For 25 years I was married to someone with antisocial and borderline personality disorder. I saw his words and body language and I immediately saw him as my husband. Every WORD you said in your analysis I agreed with because I recognize this man’s demons and noticed the confirmative behaviors. It was those spirits of behaviors that caused my lupus; because during my divorce I was healed of lupus. I also earned a Master’s in psychology 4 years after the divorce and know you don’t NEED a Master’s to recognize those words and behavior because after 25 years of observing the demons in action as with me, I just KNEW what your analysis would be. That’s why I subscribed for your channel.
Thank you for covering this incident. I was really appalled the first time I heard about the Feb 14 traffic stop. Apparently there is at least one other incident on video of Hyde being racist against some youth at a tennis club. I've learned that one of my own anger triggers are when I believe that people "in power" are being "unfair" and abusing their authority. Hyde is the type of person who really gets my hackles up. I am watching this behavior in myself and learning to observe rather than react when the situation has nothing to do with me and is out of my control. The fact that this creep made me so mad shows that I have my own issues to work on lol.
@LK - Same here, exactly the same indeed...
Yes I cant stand those types and reacting instead of being chill can play right into the power tripping.
I am English in the UK and would say don't feel bad about what you think, you reacted in a 'normal' way like any rational person would. Personally my feeling was that I just wanted to 'knock this guy out! he sickened me so much. But don't hold back, say what you feel, you will feel much better about it after. The lady officer is an asset, a credit to her profession whilst her male colleagues need to grow some gonads! They were weak, ineffective and unsupportive of her. But as Jordan Petersen says, never ever feel bad about what you think or say; never apologise for anything as long as you belive that what you think or say is right! In Hyde's case he knew he was in the wrong from the outset and just tried to overplay the 'superiority' card!
Love a Dr Grande analysis 🧐 💕
Brilliantly comforting to hear that Martin Hyde didn't get away with his antisocial behaviour.
Whenever someone asks "do you know who I am?", they are usually nobody.
i listen to dr grande talk about killers and tragedies while falling asleep
Me too! Only the ones I’ve already watched though
Well analysed Dr Grande!
Dude sounds like a classic case of affluenza.
I can see why they didn’t detain him further. That brief interaction was torture enough for anyone.
Ever since I first saw this I wanted you to do a video on it. 😊
Your analysis is excellent . I sure hope Martin’s citations did not get taken away . I hope he was held accountable . He should have been arrested for being a lying nuisance !!!!!
This same thing happened in an airport, at the ticket counter. The airline worker got on the intercom and announced to the crowd that they had someone here who didn't know who he was. Can anyone help us out?
😂😂😂
Its crazy- I haven't even watched the video of this jerk, and I don't want to. Cuz I know it's gonna boil my blood so much and I already get pissed off about stuff regularly. So I am grateful that Dr. Grande did this analysis without actually playing the video. Thanks, doc, as always! Bestest and most ambitious content creator out there!
Yes! I started to watch the video the other day and I could not finish it.
It is awful. He is a disturbed man.
Great video
Oh my, I am so happy to see you and hear your thoughts on this. ❤️ ❤️
On behalf of UK, please accept our apologies.
Ms. Jacob's
We accept. Pompous asses come in every color of the rainbow 🌈

Please keep him
No worries mate
Fantastic analysis!!!!
I saw the thumbnail, "Do you know who I am?" and I thought, "Why yes, you're Dr. Grande."
