Like Lisa Ray said, this takes me way back 🙂! Tasha I hope that younger people listen to what you react to, this is True Country! I'm getting a little long in the tooth, and I truly appreciate you reacting to these songs! God Bless you ✌️!
When I hear this song I remember it on the radio riding to work with my aunt. I picture the frosty fields in the early morning as the sun is coming up.
I was raised on this song! My Mama and daddy loved it! I remember them dancing many times to this and Easy Loving, and so many more. Great memories ✌❤🎶
Hi Tasha, as everyone has stated lots of memories associated w/this song. My mom also used to sing it to Dad. This song and "The Lord Knows I'm Drinking" ( which you reacted to a few weeks ago) were Cals only No. 1 hits "Country Bumpkin" won song of the year in 1974 from both the ACM & CMA. Anyway great song about the cycle of life so thank you for the reaction.
Oh wow! This totally takes me back to when I was a kid working in construction with my dad! He always had the radio on FM 106 Milwaukee's country music station. I love this song!
This song was written almost as a joke. Story is that the songwriter, whose name was Don Wayne, was at his publisher's office in the early '70s and he heard two executives talking by the elevator and saying, "We have to get away from this country bumpkin stuff. Nobody wants to hear that." So he got p'd off and went home an wrote a song called "Country Bumpkin." And it became the biggest country song of the year.
"It was just a short year later in a bed of joy-filled tears yet death-like pain Into this wondrous world of many wonders one more wonder came That same woman's face was wrapped up In a raptured look of love and tenderness As she marveled at the soft and warm and cuddly boy-child feeding at her breast" It's not "dirty", but I'm still surprised that such a real take on childbirth (the agony and the love) made it onto radio.
I remember this playing on my grandparents radio by their bed when I would spend the night with them in the early to mid 70s. I don't think I paid attention to the meaning until now. Great memories
Wow!! I was only joking when I commented on one of y'all's recent videos asking if y'all had been spying on me (I had sent that song to my gal not long before y'all's reaction was posted). Y'all might not believe this, but I sent this exact song (albeit the lyric version of this video) to my gal yesterday because she's from Atlanta and I'm from the sticks...and the word 'bumpkin' always cracks me up lol This is beginning to get a bit strange, you guys...something odd is afoot at the Circle K haha 😬😆
Oh this takes me back to my childhood …. My family used to sing this on the front porch …. My daddy would play it on the guitar
That does it. This finally made me tear up. Lol. My Dad used to sing this while he cooked on the grill. This just hit me. I miss my old Man so much

Yeah I'm 78 years old. First heard this on an old radio my dad owned still like it. Long long time ago in JENKINS HOLLER TENNEESEE WHERE I WAS BORN.
I haven't heard this in yrs. Always loved it. ❤❤❤❤❤
One of my wife's mother's favorite songs. She remembers her mother rocking her when she was little and singing this song to her.

Freddie Harts "Easy Loving" great song!!!!
Has she reacted to Easy Loving? It's so great.
Awesome been a long time ago ❤😊 thanks !!++
Such a great song and unknown by so many other Millennials & Gen Z! This is real music & real Country!
I love this song, especially sung by its writer Don Wayne.
Now. This is classic Country ✌️❤️

Great song! Thanks Tasha!!!
Great song. Thank you for all your great reactions 💜.
Oh yeah. Sweet memories hearing this song again. My step-dad was my mom's "Country Bumpkin".

Love when people hear a song for the first time. Especially for people that isn’t in there usual style
One of the greats! Garth Brooks once said that this is the perfect country song!
This is exactly what I’m talking about. Nobody needs a video to know what the song is about and you feel every verse.
A country standard. One thing I was surprised that they played the word breast on the radio in the early 70s
love this song!!!
Always brings back memories of riding around Saturday night listening to oldies and romance
Love this song
Awesome to see you going old school! Keep it up!
I'm so glad you are reacting to this. I just love thus song!!
One of my favorites!😊
Love this song!!!!
Got to love those story songs
Tasha you've done cal Smith before remember the classic hypocrite song the Lord knows I'm drinking that was Cal
I think we heard "Lord Knows I'm Drinking" in a live. If not, that is your next Cal Smith song.
My momma listened to this constantly! Thank you for the walk down memory lane!
I've never heard it before...sounds like she was using it as a term of endearment!
She was, it was her nickname for him.
I kinda agree w/Tasha! I don't think it was meant as a term of endearment in the beginning but it came to be one.
Oh wow! I haven't heard this song in forever! Thank you ❤️
First time listening to this song Tasha. I liked the story very much. Country songs tell a story like no others. ✌️
Classic, that many never heard of.
I have heard this song as long as i can remember ...short memory tho . and i have always thought it as beautiful as it is hokey
Great song. I hadn't seen this performance before but only heard the studio recording.
Great reaction Tasha! I remember this song playing on the radio when I was a kid in the 70s.
You should do a reaction to DeFord Bailey. He was the first African American country music star. As a harmonica player, he's one of my heroes!!
Cal Smith is the same guy who sings "The Lord Knows I'm Drinking" that you covered about a month ago.

I love the way you play a lot of different music and you never judge. You seem to love all music. ❤👍
Thank you 😊
Tompall Glaser `` PUT ANOTHER LOG ON THE FIRE ``
My favorite "circle of life" song is The Three Bells by The Browns.
Subbed. Almost nobody knows about Cal these days and that's a pure shame.
Great song thank you so much for the amazing reaction
Tasha beautiful reaction and you rock that hat
Awesome song and you did a great review on it!
Love you reaction too!
Love
Makes me tear up
Another song similar to this by Cal Smith is "Jason's Farm"
Dang you went back in time with this one. :)
"It was just a short year later in a bed of joy-filled tears yet death-like pain
Into this wondrous world of many wonders one more wonder came
That same woman's face was wrapped up
In a raptured look of love and tenderness
As she marveled at the soft and warm and cuddly boy-child feeding at her breast"
