The hip drop is such a bang bang play. No way players fully plan for that to happen. It just happens. Crazy that the league thinks they can fix something that just naturally happens.

Love this podcast but Hoge is panic level 10 all ready listen to CHGO or Hoge & Jahns. We played a top 3 team in the league, our rookie QBs first road game, against a team that hadn’t had a SNF game in 5 years. Caleb will learn to beat the blitz. JUST RUN BETWEEN THE DAMN TACKLES
I agree with everything but you can’t run between the tackles when your interior o line is horrendous
There's no interior gaps to run through, center and guards instantly losing point of attack. Meanwhile they can't trade for olinemen and have same impact like sweat trade
@@pickedknows463 wide zone is a lot of horizontal stuff. Just run duo (double the tackle & edge on the same side & climb to second level. More downhill runs, let the o line be physical. Need to give the o line a chance to take the fight to the DL. McVay has gone away from wide zone & moved towards a more physical run game.
@@pickedknows463 they haven’t tried to run side much since TEN. Homer had a dive (between center & guard) for 6 yards out of shotgun & swift had 8 yards on a duo in the 3rd quarter. They just need to call those type of runs. Everything horizontal (zone, wide zone, sweep, toss) is getting blown up. Got to get downhill & play with physicality. Might need to sit Davis for Pryor, much bigger body.

That game showed me that we can stay with the big boys we just need a little bit more blocking And I think we'll be fine And I think we'll see it in the games that are coming up

it’s so frustrating that there not playing this man. You should never have to contemplate after a loss what if we played our best guys. We are playing our 4th string running back more than our other three good running backs. this sucks

There is NO need to do a "hip drop" tackle. You should, as a tackler, just wrap up and drive. I hate when players go to their knees to try and bring someone down. Just wrap up, hold on for dear life, and keep your legs moving. I guarantee both the tackler and the ball carrier will go down. I have no idea when this hip drop tackle was taught but it makes for bad habits, bad tackling habits. Wrap and drive, it really is that simple.

Question, the OL had to go against our defense in the preseason, didn’t any of the problems show up against our defense? Our OL sucks & is the biggest problem……

Man, I hope you get the ball more and not just as “the blocking TE”. You can stretch the field too and we need your heart and toughness.
Cole should ask Hoge what he really thinks, he’s done a complete 180 from yesterday.
I wonder if passing is down because theres been so many QBs, over the last 5+ years, that dont know how to pass the ball. 32 NFL teams, I cant think of more than 5-7 QBs that i can look at and say "he's a good passer". Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes. Rodgers. Maybe Dak? Joe Borrow is cool, but hasnt been consistent lately. Herbert is decent. Stroud is getting there. Geno has been strangely impressive late into his career. But outside of that group, I cant think of many QBs that are consistently good. We surely dont have any elite passing QBs in the NFC North, but hopefully Caleb will turn into to one. Caleb always looks like he wants to pass, as opposed to run, which is refreshing, ---At times i wonder if QBs arent improving as passers because coaches are becoming terrible. Or, maybe young QBs cant be coached, because they have tunnel vision on their contracts
