  • (972) 633-1605 -- www.texasadult... -- In this video Chad shows you the proper way to turn right at red lights! This is important and likely will be required in your driving license test / exam when you are in the car with the instructor.
    Be patient and always stop first, roll forward, then look to the left to make sure you're clear.
    Being observant of all that is going around you is crucial when trying to execute a successful right turn at a red light!
    We truly value the need to teach students proper and useful information that will lead to getting your Texas drivers license. The course is taught in a way that stays with drivers for the rest of their lives! We started looking at courses and realized that those companies were failing the customer. We give you a course that leads to a Texas driving certificate so you can go get your license without taking the written test at the Department of Public Safety. So, the course benefits you not only with a certificate but also intellectually.
    This clip is from the approved six hour online driver education course for adults in the State of Texas who are 18 to 24 years old. Chad uses graphics and real world examples, instead of you just reading endless text, in order to help you increase the chances that you will pass your driving test when you schedule one at a DPS location or a TPST approved center (see more information below in this description).

    Should always look out for pedestrians going against the walk signal even if your light is green. people nowadays are distracted/rush. not looking out for cars. Stay alert. Stay alive.

      Additionally pedestrians should look for the cars especially the right turners even on red.

    I've always been confused about making right turns at intersection about going when it's red even when no other cars have the right away. I had always thought I'd still have to wait

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless a sign states no turning at red, then you can go as long as you yield to oncoming traffic and make the turn and make sure you turn into the far right lane.

    • @OscarHernandez-bv3pr

      yield or come to a complete stop?

    • @guerreroleo87
      @guerreroleo87 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Oscar Hernandez you have to come to a complete stop to make sure there are no other cars going first if the light is red and you want to turn right

    • @OscarHernandez-bv3pr
      @OscarHernandez-bv3pr 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So then its a complete stop and then yield for any incoming traffic...not just yeild for incoming traffic...got to be more specific...it doesn't even mention it in the Texas Drivers Handbook.

      So if there are two lanes in the perpendicular street and the other side with only one turn lane (turning into the opposite lane you would) has a green arrow, you have to wait for them to go?

    This is big problem for me. It should not be done. There should they make free right so we should not turn right on red.

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Free right turns lanes would make it easier to turn right on intersections but it would make intersections unnecessarily bigger to make more room for those new lanes. This is a fair compromise. Some intersections give you a green right turn arrow to make up for this.

    So let’s say your light is red and you’re about to turn Right and the cars on the opposite side in the left lane aren’t turning, is it ok to turn right ?

  • @user-marco-S

    Some American are on holiday in Europa and rent a car. Did you maybe hear about American drivers who do a turn on red not realizing it is not allowed?

  • @EastDallasCrew
    @EastDallasCrew 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why do you have to check for the white SUV? Shouldn't your lane and the oncoming lane both be red? If you are on red, shouldn't the white SUV always be on red since both lanes should are on red? I don't get why he has the right of way since your on red and the opposite lane should normally be on red?

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EastDallasCrew Yes, the white SUV was on red for the first part of the video but at about 0:38 seconds in, the white SUV finally gets the green arrow which gives him the right of way to make his left hand turn at the intersection. Also, no matter what, it's always good to check those spots because honestly, in the city, you never know what can happen. People do stupid turns all the time and don't know that it's actually not their turn. Just be one step ahead of them, and Good question!!

      +Texas Adult Drivers Education I don't understand how that works. How did you know tha red corvette wasn't going to U turn & that the white van's light is green?

    • @fortunamajor580
      @fortunamajor580 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      EastDallasCrew is asking what I was wondering about. I'm assuming that turn signals have the right of way over the right on red rule, which is why the SUV goes first. Is that correct?

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EastDallasCrew we did not explain that correctly. When a traffic light is switching from red to green, most behave in this similar way, traffic turning left usually gets the priority and the right-of-way.

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +fortunamajor580 yes we did explain it correctly and you are correct . When a traffic light is switching from red to green, most behaved in the similar way, traffic turning left usually gets the priority and the right right-of-way.

  • @erikscherer22
    @erikscherer22 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So just wondering but when you do make a right turn on red do you have to stay in the far right lane then signal over to the left lane if you want to turn left right away? Or can you just merge right away into the far left lane because I just moved here and that would be different from my old state.

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Erik Scherer Sorry for the very late response Erik. In Texas, whenever you make a right turn you must always stay in the far right lane first and then make your way ever lane, by lane. Always the rule no matter what. Good
      question!!

    • @erikscherer22
      @erikscherer22 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Texas Adult Drivers Education huh interesting I always get honked at when I do that everyone else just merges immediately into the left lane crossing 2 lanes.

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Erik Scherer Yeah, unfortunately that is a Texas driver for you. Impatient, and uninformed. Not keeping to the right after a turn is probably one of the most popular traffic violations out there. People just don't pay attention to what they're doing.

  • @justiniantbh
    @justiniantbh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about when there are pedestrians waiting at the light? Do you see them and just not turn until they get their light and cross, or is there a way to know whether or not their light will come on to cross the road so that way you can cross?

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pedestrians will have a sign showing if they're allowed to go or not. The problem is, here in Texas, most pedestrians do not care what the signage says, so they walk at any time. This is against the law. The instructor still likes you to always check for pedestrians because it's a good, safe habit to follow. Good question!! TXADEC.COM

    While turning are we allowed hand over hand or just push n pull during test?

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PritzPreity Hand over hand steering is always the better option. It requires less work when turning as opposed to push and pull steering.

    Can you do this at the driving test? Or will they fail me if I right turn at a red light?

    • @TXADEC
      @TXADEC  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can take the right turn on a red light. Not knowing the laws and not making the turn and just sitting there will actually cause you to lose points on the test. Unless a sign states "No right turn on red."
