What an unusual theme- a black hole dragon! It’s a lovely painting and I think the quality of the pebeo paints shows through when compared with the Hobbycraft gouaches ; they were certainly giving better cover. As you rightly said, you can only go with what you can afford so it’s nice that you are comparing products which are affordable!
Thank you Hazel ❤️ I thought a black hole dragon would fit into the celestial theme I'd been running for these dragons. I think I may have to change the theme soon though as after my next one (nebula themed) it may be time to have a change! Oh those Hobbycraft paints were awful! I'm all for trying different price points for gouache, especially for beginners or those on a budget. Gouache is meant to be for designs to be reproduced rather than original pieces (of course there are exceptions) It's a great medium for sketchbook work and adaptable enough to be used as a watercolour! It doesn't need to cost a fortune and I'm happy to share my curiosity for different brands and my experiences with them. These are great value and I'd recommend 🤩
I have been watching quite a few gouache videos as I am looking for a go to brand and not emptying my wallet! I have enjoyed watching your dragons and your painting style! I am wondering about the quality of these Pebeo paints? I have seen a few different quality offerings from the same brands! I did notice this is an older video, but I am glad that I spent the time watching you create this lovely painting, thank you.
Oh another amazing dragon - love it! The colour scheme is a great combo. I am a huge fan of strong, rather muted colours anyway. Like natural tones, dark reds, blues and greens 🙂
Thank you Crafting Lady ❤️ I'm glad you like it! It was a bit of a gamble using such dark colours with a paint I hadn't used before. But they did not disappoint! They held well with the bright vibrant colours over the darker tones too! Muted tones are just chefs kiss aren't they?
Bonjour. Merci beaucoup for your video. Your painting is very nice, détails are brillant. And you pronounce very well gouache word ! Based on your comments and result I think I can try now this brand. If my painting will turn into a big mess it will be due to the painter, not the paint !
What an interesting video! I like how you also try out the cheaper paints. Love the dragon, so special with the tiny scales in gorgeous colours. Love this series!
Thank you Vanessa ❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊 I think it's important to see what budget friendly options there are out there! These are superb value, the colour variety as well as how nicely they mixed was great! I liked the level of opacity too! Great for beginners and also a nice experience for those who want to give a cheaper alternative a try! I really enjoyed painting with these and definitely great for teeny tiny dragon scales 🐲
Thank you Sonya ❤️ I quite like how dark it is too. I think if I'd gone any darker the details may have been lost. I thought that these paints were fab though! 😁😁 I've started the Schmincke dragon 🤩
Thank you Sassy Cat and Lyra ❤️ it is something I'm trying to get around to. 😉 It takes me a while to re-draw them in a way where they would be good for colouring.
Thank you Linda ❤️ it's just one of those words which is pronounced differently all over the world lol! My art teacher taught me how it was pronounced as 16 year old me at the time hadn't got a clue lol! These paints worked great for this picture though and I was really happy with how this dragon turned out. I'm glad you liked it too 🥰🥰
Thanks for the review!! I wish there was more info about this brand online 🥲 I go through a ton of white for mixing and I found a bulk deal on some Pebeo (extra fine) titanium white, do you think I can safely grab a big bunch? I can't find any reviews/comparisons on TH-cam for the extra fine range, but I'm assuming is at least as good as the studio ones. (If you don't have time to reply, no pressure!)

It is dark but I love how it turned out. Makes the scales look even shinier, too. Not gonna lie, I’m looking forward to the Schmincke paints 😊

I was glad to hear your comments on the black and white because I have two large tubes I got openstock.
This is so beautiful ❤
I love this dragon just like the others. I wish you would really consider selling the outlines of your dragons.
Ooh or a colouring book?!

I pronounce gouache exactly the same as you. Stunning dragon Katy. 🐉
