    Hey! I definitely agree with your feedback on the course. I can’t say too much about it overall, I literally just started course 2 and it seems like it’s going to finally pick up. I do think that you can lose motivation fast just bc of how long it is! After I completed the 1st course I literally didn’t go back until 3 weeks later and that was me forcing myself bc I really want to complete the course. Anyway! Thanks for your review!

    I agree with your review. I came into the google certification course with UI/UX knowledge already, mostly UI. This made the beginning of the program seem very dull and slow-moving. For a full on beginner, that could be useful to some, but I feel that contributes to a lot of the dropout rate. The lack of UI and the fact it isn’t acknowledged as being an important factor to learn is also…disappointing. With that being said, I agree it’s a great course for beginners as long as they don’t rely ONLY on this course being their ticket into the industry.

    I applied for the programme through a government programme for unemployed people, so thankfully I was able to study for free. The downside is they only gave us 2 months to complete it, which seems too short, which causes a lot of stress. After completing the ux google course you can look at job within ux, ui, product design or focus on a specific aspect such as user research. However, when starting out its better to be broader and try it all out before specialising in one aspect. The course itself has a model about this where they go more in detail 😊

    @brianmcconnell1817 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m going through the course right now and I completely agree with your evaluation of it. I’m at the beginning of my first peer reviewed project and your concerns about it reflect mine. The way the material is presented is very dry. As a result I’m also finding it very difficult to stay motivated. The terminology is confusing and needlessly vague. I’m concerned that I’m learning terminology that is too Google-specific and won’t be applicable in the real world. I’m seriously considering finding another online course that can offer better feedback from actual instructors and is more interactive.

    • @KamiAlicja
      @KamiAlicja  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally understand moving to a different course! Although i am still biased toward the Google course as it does have the big Google name! If you are looking for a new course with actual feedback & mentors i have heard good things about Career foundry UX design course I haven't tried it myself so not 100% sure however it is a big investment you are looking at around £5000 - £6000 i believe.

      @@KamiAlicja I’ve researched the career foundry course and I think that will be my next move. I actually used their free introduction to UX as a way to start my knowledge base. It gave me a jumpstart on the Google course. My impression is that it’s a good course but it’s limited in scope (no UI) and it’s way too Google specific and the peer review aspect is awful.

    I'm looking to get into UI/UX courses online... I saw google had one at a great pricepoint but it's only UX.... I looked at a bunch of other courses and the majority only seem to offer UX, which is so weird considering UI is a mandatory component connected to UX (which are often paired as a single job/career). I graduated post sec for graphic design, however learning UX without UI is wrong. I'm hoping google is an okay course to take in the end because I'm hearing that a lot of UI/UX certs are typically money grabs for thousands of dollars with projects and courses that are extremely entry level and don't help or assist you into the industry.

    • @KamiAlicja
      @KamiAlicja  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah unfortunately the Google course is just focused on UX and you would need to educate yourself on UI however because youve done graphic design it should come easy to you i came from the same background moving from graphic design to learning ux/ui so alot of it is the general design principles that you learn in graphic design but its always important to keep learning!

      Short answer: Yes. But it depends on how much you already know and what sort of personality you are 🙂

    I’m here because I started the Google UX design certificate and I stopped at the 2nd course because I started to feel unmotivated and the course moves too slow and now I’m trying to see whether it’s worth it to continue the course or not through people’s experience 🥲

      I think the certificate is nice to have especially when trying to get a job or clients as it is the google UX course. But ignoring the certificate the fitdt portfolio piece you create within the coursr is the most important as the 2nd and 3rd is pretyy much exactly the same. You dont need the course to succeed but it helps with beginner stuff but then its up to you to focus on expanding your portfolio! So as long as you completed the first portfolio piece i think you are good to go just learn on your own
