I worked as a mariner on the Great Lakes for ten years. I bought an A3T automatic before I went out for my first hitch as a wheelsman. The luminous no frills dial kept me on time for watch with minimal adjustment. Through a truly uneasy time in my life.
Ended up liking it so much I bought one for my father. That was 5 years ago and he still wears it everyday. Think it was about $385.00 back then. Well worth it.

I own two of these and love them. One has the nylon web band with a compass (added by me) and the other has a leather band, which I use as my dress up time piece. I bought a third (polymer) watch for my son (Army), and he loves it as well. Five things that are the sales clinchers for me, are: 1) solid titanium case w/screw down titanium back; 2) the offset (lowered) protected crystal (since I wear the watch on the inside of my wrist, I tend to crack the crystals more, but not since wearing a Bertucci for three plus years); 3) solid lugs; 4) a screw down crown that is at the 4 o'clock rather than the 3 o'clock position; 5) a quartz movement. These five points out way any perceived negatives...

Thanks Mark for showcasing the Americana. My son has the Bertucci A2-T and after watching your video, I got the Americana. I got mine a week ago and love it. It's accurate to an average of -0.5 seconds per day. I've never had a watch that said "USA" on it. Thank you for supporting American manufacturing. We need to support our own neighbors. To anyone on the fence, just buy it. It looks great and wears great. Its a lightweight - heavy-duty tank. I have 7" wrists and this Americana wears like a feather with its titanium case. Awesome watch. Thank you Mark for the great videos.

Wow, I put it on an Italian rubber NATO from bertucci. It's the most comfortable band that I own and no more odor issues from woven bands. Great watch and band.

Gotta admit,I REALLY like the bertuccis,no nonsense, tough field watch, with some models having a ten year battery life
And with a reputation for being seriously tough as well.

Marc I have boughy several models from this brand before I realised you were selling them off DROP, as we had planned on buying more as gifts for the festive season to include a message 'to get out & disconnect' as a they are great looking, well designed tool/field watches on really well made nato straps...but I have a real issue about the size as most guys in Australia have 7 inch sized plud wrists, they advertise just as your email this week as being 40mm but I would say these are 36mm at best...I look forward to your reply as I know you to be a man of integrity & honesty...we would naturally buy any future purchases from you.

Marc , your integrity is highly respected and well deserved . Thank you. Please help us appreciate the value of the Americana IF the American assembler stands behind its QC e.g. the misaligned hands. Can you contact them to see if they will improve their QC and guarantee the proper hands alignment to justify the price of the American assembly. Since they tout the USA assembly we should expect the misaligned hands not to occur. American QC should have always seen it and fixed it.
Since they assembled these movements in the US the hands should definitely be properly aligned. If not what does USA quality control movements mean?

I bought a Bertucci field watch at an outfitters store clearing out their watches. They clearly didn't know what they were selling, based on the great deal I got. I absolutely love it and would gladly have paid full plus + for it. Love your reviews and selection of watches. Thank you.

Biggest thing that sold me to buy on as a landscaper is NO SPRINGBARS .. popped on off my seiko turtle & Mwc .. so this is a savage watch ⌚️ for me as tough as nails , punches 👊 way way above its weight, my opinion better than a Hamilton kavky . 200m water resistant, no spring bars , titanium... Great loom ... & cheaper whats not to like ... its a steel for the money.....

Love Bertucci. I've had 3 A-2Ts, a D-1T, a A-3T and 2 A-4Ts over the years. Very thrilled to have landed my current A-4T with the sapphire crystal and the tritium dial WITHOUT the date window. Might need to see if I can upgrade mine to this new movement! Thanks for the video!

I really like how they're assembled in the USA, and the dog logo on the back looks a lot like my dog. Have always loved the A11 style watch of WW2 and I think Bertucci did a good job with the style but keeping true to the original design. Not totally sure about the offset seconds dial on that one model, but to each their own. Picked up a A-2T Vintage lately for $60 on Ebay and if it wears well I'll pick up either one of these or the A-2TR GMT. Thanks for the great review as usual!

My fully made in Switzerland, ETA FO6 Marathon navigator quartz is nowhere near the markers either. I've also seen Omega quartz models that don't even come close to hitting the marks. So that doesn't really mean anything. It only seems to matter to OCD type people. It has no bearing on time keeping, or country of origin, or price of watch.

I agree... Especially for more than 200$.. Not acceptable. I love the design but that second hand is a deal breaker for me too.. I refuse to believe that this is so hard to make.. I mean 50 usd japanese watches rearly skip a second mark... And this one skips 'em all..

Marc you should make a watch like this but smaller. The case is dead nuts on. Dials, lume, strap and hands are so functional. You might not be able to hit your price point in titanium but bead blasted SS would work. And an automatic movement with date only or no date complication would be a sell-out.

They look very nice. The central second hand is a little disappointing in that it is not hitting the chapter ring marks. I have two older Seikos that have the same problem. All my newer quartz watches from Citizen, Seiko, Bulova and Timex have perfectly aligned second hands.

The movement is shiny and polished, but why it look dirty at the base around the movement, back of the dial face? Hope they are just on the sample. I'd be disappointed when time to replace the battery, lift up the plastic spacer and found all those stains.

Thank you for this. However, do consider the Ricardo Swiss Alpine Military watch. Oddly, it's never considered in videos on field watches. (Ricardo have made some expensive vintage watches too). This Ricardo should be a Classic with its superb 12/24 hour luminous cream face and Quartz (Japanese) movement. I prefer it to my Timex Expedition Camper. And, surprisingly, it costs less than £30. Excellent value for a wonderful watch.

Thanks for the in-depth view of the quality build of Bertucci's quartz movements. Do you know if the quartz movements in their smaller case watches are built to the same standard? And will they ever make smaller case American assembled watches? I'm a huge fan of Bertucci field watches - they are the absolute best for truly active sports in my opinion, but I find the Americanas to be a bit too big.

I really like these in general. I think I might pick one up in the near future. - just one comment: there are a lot of unnecessary words on the dial. Hopefully they can remove at least 2 or 3 words on future models (ie: Titanium, Sapphire, etc). Maybe they can put those words on the back instead?

Seems like a great tool watch. or as a gift to a child entering high school. Not a hunter or outdoors person. but if I was I'd get one. Went to their site, even their servicing (battery) inclusive of a strap replacement is reasonable. If you can, try and get some other models. They did offer you their newest model. I know some of the micro brands want a retail presence from a reputable dealer, but want to keep many sales in house. (Profit being a main reason I guess) but want to put their product out to a good dealer at the same time.

Great video. Been looking at these Bertuccis after I bought my first dive watch from you a while back. Couple novice questions. You mention this movement and it’s properties but how does it compare to their previous Swiss and Japanese movements? And my really noob question but wanting to get into a quartz field watch, how simple is it to change the battery? It seems simple enough but I got a little hesitant when you mention printed circuit boards and shorts. I didn’t know if I missed a simple watch and learn you may have done. Lol. Keep up the great videos and running an excellent company. Best of luck to you.

Awesome! Any idea what grade of titanium used? Also what is the accuracy of that quartz movement? Thanks in advanced!

    • @islandwatch
      @islandwatch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I do not know the grade; accuracy should be standard amongst quartz.

Hey Mark, do you guys carry the A-3T NAVIGATOR Ti-MATIC? It is an automatic version of this watch.

Looks nice from the outside. But a lot of corrosion inside.

Watch looks very similar to British brand Sekonda. British design and Swiss movements , assembled in the UK 🇬🇧. Created after WWII. Now, Japanese movts , some of them, cheaper models available on duty free shops , manufactured in China 🇨🇳. Anyway, Bertucci seems to be reasonable and cheaper alternative.😀

This is absolutely my favorite watch brand, second to Seiko (which used to be the other way around). I own 7, ranging from the out of production Durato, to the ‘dressy’ A2T titanium/swiss/sapphire/horween strap, to my simple but unscrupulous polymer daily beater. Dollar for dollar, it’s the best wristwatch in the world. And dare I say, over even my SKXs, it will never let its owner down.

I have a Bertucci and the second hand only lines up if you hold the watch vertically facing you. It’s fine the from 0-30, then you turn it upside down and it’s ok from 30-60. You can see it physically move a mm or so as you turn it. Bugs the hell out of me 🤬

They should have used a white figures on black background date wheel though. Would have looked more integrated.
