      Wow a hot blond is against sexual harassment. Stop the presses. It's like Melania, a mother of an autistic child, is against bullying.
      Like most conservatives, they are against anything that discomforts them personally, and don't give a rat's ass about anything else or anyone outside their immediate family.

      She's right to a degree but she went to far. She said that men shouldn't check out a woman's ass in a bar.
      We exist because of sexual desire. Of course a man shouldn't be rude and stare, but the idea that other men should shame said individual for "checking out" a woman in a bar setting is asinine.
      It's akin to saying women shouldn't enjoy the movie Magic Mike.
      It's perfectly okay as a human being to enjoy sex appeal of the opposite gender, and is downright oppressive to suggest otherwise.

  • @MrVampdude
    @MrVampdude 7 ปีที่แล้ว +98

    What she is saying is so relevant though. Especially that people should call it out when they see it. If a person with a better history said it the comment section wouldn't be blowing it off as much. Yes Don't give her a free pass as a "good guy" of course not, but it doesn't help us to ignore some genuinely good words on the culture surrounding abuse that would sound good from either side.

    • @NJ-wb1cz
      @NJ-wb1cz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Words are meaningless coming for her because someone wrote her a platform she now stands on.
      If Trump starts to read prepared speeches that would not change what he is in the slightest.

    • @sirtoby4939
      @sirtoby4939 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Especially that people should call it out when they see it"
      Well, she didn't call it out "when she saw it". She called it out "when she could take personal advantage of it".
      "...help us to ignore some genuinely good words on the culture surrounding abuse"
      Uhm, you realize she's not saying anything that far more credible sources hasn't said before her? And the fact that she's merely using this matter as an opportunistic plea for sympathy says a lot.

    • @d.e.b.b5788
      @d.e.b.b5788 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Mostly because Letterman couldn't STFU. His biggest problem, was that he kept interrupting his guests, perhaps to try to keep the spotlight on themselves. Same with most late night hosts. They should study Carson's old shows to learn how it's done right. Carson knew that it was the best show by making his guests shine, instead of himself.
      Edit: Colbert is starting to understand that. He's getting better at making his guests look good.

    • @Taktwo2
      @Taktwo2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Blue Hearthstone I don’t mean to make Letterman out as a saint or defend his behavior in regards to his affair. I respect how he would expose the lies and nastiness of guests like Trump and Bill O’Reilly and didn’t ignore his integrity. I really like the show and Seth, especially his Closer Looks, but it’s becoming a trend that late night talk show hosts who throw black hole dark shade just revert back to politeness when confronted by the people they challenge. Letterman made a fool out of the most powerful morons and liars in America only by pointing out the facts. I have seen Seth throw fast balls and I don’t understand why he is setting up tee-balls.

It's sad that companies stay quiet and don't let others know that they may be in danger. And if you need to inform everyone they why don't they just fire the sexual predator in the first place?

    My sister was a whistleblower, not about sexual harassment, she was a bank manager and highlighted mis-selling of loans and mortgages people who couldn’t afford them. It was supposed to be a safe and anonymous reporting Pathway but in fact many employees phoned her to let her know everyone knew she’d done the reporting. Her life was made miserable, she was moved to failing branch after failing branch, given impossible tasks and micromanaged until her retirement. This took a toll on her health. The man in charge of the mis-selling was promoted. This mis-selling and similar mis- selling throughout the banking institution, caused the collapse of some of our banks and forced our U.K. government to support them, leading to interest rate rises in 2007. It’s often much harder to do the right thing.

      Gretchen was the smart one (classic violinist, Stanford Univ, Oxford Univ, Miss America). She rejected and sued Ailes, Megan sent him a thank you note for making her the star of the show. Enough said.@@imshooketh1500

    I agree with her statement that men should be sticking up for women when they hear sexual harassment from other men, but her statement on this show doesn’t mean much bc on Ellen she said she would have Trump on her new show bc she wouldn’t say no to the president...the same president who said he can do anything he wants to women bc he’s famous and women let famous ppl do whatever they want.

      She just interviewed Trump, a convicted rapist, - she wore a black leather mini-skirt showing off her thighs (she’s in her 50’s) and said it was so good to see him.
      Gretchen Carlson sued Ailes for sexual harrassment, Megyn wrote him a thank you note. He made her the star of the show. Enough said.

    Looking at the comments people seem to really dislike her. I don't quite see it. Part of the problem is that when News is no longer news but simply a branch of entertainment and that they spin their pitch 24 hours a day, it's very hard to not see the presenters as being part of the companies spin. What I have always felt is that they seem like actors pretending to be News people. In other words it's a performance. And each News channel has its own brand.

    MK on Howard Stern totally discredited her upset at being harrassed. It didnt knock an ounce off her. She just needed to time it right to come out and make plenty of money n fame out of it.

    So only when she's on the receiving end of power structures does she re-assess her mantra of personal responsibility and other right wing tropes. It's odd to hear her speak about solidarity after working for years for a network that aims to destroy all solidarity between people.

    Oh she is the poor victim and has been her whole life. She wrote about the mean girls who kicked her out of their group. I’ve never harassed any woman in my life but have worked with women who talked like sailors and had no problem smacking a man on the ass. I once told my boss not to get comfortable with the sexual banter his secretary engaged in and he laughed and said she gives as good as she gets. I then said yes but if she gets disgruntled for any reason, your words might come out in court without context.

  • @dilio8457

    That's stupidity. Looking at a woman's ass or talking about a woman in a sexual way is not the same thing as harassment. I can talk talk about a woman whichever way I want but still be very respectful of her boundaries. We see very beautiful women everyday, whether it's on the street or in the work place. It doesn't matter. What matters is be respectful to them and their boundaries. It's stupidity to think that men shouldn't be looking at your ass or even have sexual attraction towards a woman, be it in the work place or not.

    When men leave the room women look at their arses too. It is a natural phenomenon and instinctive by both genders. It is not a sexist act nor sexual harassment so don't quote it for cheap applause. Sexual harassment is a serious issue but looking is a part of life.

    Everything she has said is spot on. Yes, perhaps she burned some bridges in terms of politics and some common sense, however, first and foremost she is a woman and everything she said is spot and needs to be taken seriously by men. I do also agree that if it is men being harassed by women, the same applies, but this is incredible pervasive for women. If you are not a famous news anchor or talk show host, or are in some sort of position that gives you some leverage, you are afraid that you will lose your job, be blacklisted, etc. What people don't seem to realise is that it is all well and good to look at the celebrities and famous like #PresidenteTrampa *, O'Reilly or Weinstein, and the women that have enough clout of their own to make the accusations, BUT, the majority of these acts are perpetrated on powerless, insecure, unassertive, unconfident and vulnerable women and girls (or men and boys). Powerless is really the word because these predators approach what they consider to be easy targets, i.e. the vulnerable, especially those without financial and/ or supportive means (in terms of having someone they can turn to for support, someone to talk to). Over and above that victims are accused of lying, are not believed by their spouses, parents etc., because that support structure that should exist will rather deny it than deal with it.
