    I have mentioned several times I was a dispatcher back in the late 90’s and 2000 for nine years and would be good if dispatchers watched this gives you more knowledge of what the driver is dealing with when your talking with him. This channel is the best.

    My ex-husband (he's like my big brother) was in a high speed freeway collision in early Feb. Having watched your videos prepared me for staying safe at the scene, especially since a car clipped the flatbed. I was a medic for years and still needed the reminders. Stay safe out there!

    Funny thing I’ve realized,I was brought up in a different generation and our priority was to respond in a hurry ,give the ambulance a route of exit and get that vehicle loaded,clean up and keep the lanes blocked to a minimum.Now adays seems like I’m the only one rushing!They look at me like I’m goofy.Recovering cars off of the railroad tracks was a mad rush,Police did not have the authority to stop the trains.Ron great job ,shoveling the melted plastic stuck to the asphalt is a tough task.Please keep up the good work

    I've noticed that in most of Ron's videos involving highway traffic backups, almost all the traffic has merged to the proper lane well in advance, almost a mile or more before the actual obstruction. That sort of thing hardly ever happens in any of the places I've ever lived.

    • @swearenginlawanda
      @swearenginlawanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We were in traffic backup last week. Watched an idiot try going up the shoulder to avoid the delay. Laughed as we watched a semi slightly veer to the shoulder to slow it down. Fool tried to go into the grass. (Next to a swamp in Louisiana..... gator swamp..)

    • @vickiatabi4235
      @vickiatabi4235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed that as well. Do the Troopers set up cones or barriers to divert traffic? I find it hard to believe that many drivers are thinking ahead.

    I thought 'FLAT BEDS' ( As We Call Them in NJ)
    came equipped to allow towing of a 2nd car.
    Can save rolling another rig, and you MAY have been able to take care of the secondary crash.
    Just a thought.
    GREAT VIDEOS!
    THANK YOU for taking us along!

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we are capable of hauling one vehicle and towing a second with the same truck. The issue comes down to time and safety. I would have to either back down the interstate (highly frowned upon) or finish loading up, go to the nearest turn around and go back to the secondary crash. In this situation, the secondary was quite a ways back in the que and I still had a lot of clean up to do. It was quicker, in this situation, to call in for a second unit to clear the secondary incident. Thanks for watching and God bless.

    The BIG jobs with the larger equipment are interesting. But these roll back calls carry a lot of water for the everyday business of a large towing company. Ron, Your professional demeanor in the towing industry is refreshing. I recently watched the video of the JD Sprayer that rolled off the road. And to be able to not only keep your cool. But to actually stay on scene, And offer up your rigging. And then when they tried, And finally gave into your vast experience. Everything came together fast. That showed me that you are a truly a man that just isn't in this for the money. But here to help other when there having a bad day. Some day I'm going to walk into your shop and say hello. And shake your hand and look you in the eye and say "Thank you" For all that you do. Especially the hard stuff that we DO NOT see in your channel. The bad stuff, that you see. And have to power threw, And just get the job done.

What kills a tow company is Insurance. Just Call around for an Insurance quote on having just one small 1 ton wrecker and you will change your mind.

    I’ve drove by an burnt car just sitting there on the side of the highway in my truck. A burnt car just sitting there. Me and my bud drove right by in the rotator. If we were in a rollback we would of stopped in front of it and call and ask about it, if we can take it off the road. We were in the rotator though. That’s the truck I drive I’m sometimes in a rollback or a wrecker, but I drive the ole Kenworth rotator with a new 2017 1075 century on it. It used to be heavy hauler truck. Has an Acert twin turbo caterpillar in it was 600hp stock now it’s 750+hp. Powerful powerful beast of a rig

    Reasonably well handled. Highly suggest that you use a respirator on burnt car calls! Too many toxins floating in the air that cause health issues later on down the road. Namely emphysema and lung cancer. Burnt-out shells of vehicles are toxic because of the myriad of carcinogenic substances that are used to produce the rubber components and electrical components within a vehicle. And when it comes to getting paid for car fire calls it's usually the tow company that gets burnt!

    "On a burn out like this, I just grab something strong!"
    Hahaaaaa, on a burnout like this, anything left, is something strong!! Even the smell is strong enough to help winch it up!!

    A few years ago, I was driving down a street when, ahead of me, an SUV exited a side street and entered the street that I was driving on. Flames that were six-feet long, were shooting in my direction from underneath the SUV. The SUV looked as if it were being powered by rockets.
    I honked my horn, flashed my headlights, and waved my arm. Finally I succeeded in flagging down the SUV. The flames were extinguished before the entire SUV caught fire.
    Apparently oil had been dripping from the valve covers and onto the catalytic converter, where the oil caught fire.

    I saw another guys car starting to catch fire on the highway and pulled over right as he did. (He didn’t know it was on fire, he just knew he lost all power!) It’s amazing how fast cars can become engulfed. He had time to get out, and pull four boxes with brand new wheels for his other vehicle before it was too hot to be by. I do NOT envy you or anyone who has to touch these burned out husks, they stink like hell!

    Better charge the battery on the tripod light. It was flashing after you grabbed the chains

    Watching traffic while you are working the scene is so much more important than many people realize, it takes a split second for some bonehead not paying attention or too stupid to move over to plow into you, or your wrecker.
    I'd say the car was well done, and throwing the debris in the car I was like umm you are gonna get the car dirty LOL, hey don't scratch the paint either jeez....have a great night.

    8:40 Your work light is on strobe... hopefully you got around to shutting that off before the day was over. Certainly makes life a lot easier if batteries aren't dead on things like those lights when you need them, eh?

    I never did enjoy dealing with car fires, tractor fires, combines, skid steers, logging tractors. There was always that unknown of it reigniting on the tow away. We carry a handheld leaf blower, to help clean up, after accidents or burn outs, like that one. Makes clean up a lot faster. One of our local tow drivers, went to 2 separate vehicle fires, where they both reignited on him. And both times, he had to drop them. The first one, wasn't too bad. He was able to get it out, with his extinguisher. But the second one, he couldn't do anything with it. It wasn't a complete burn out the first time. So there was plenty left to burn.
