Livestock overgrazing is responsible for the degradation of millions of acres of rangelands, while wild horses contribute to only a tiny fraction of this damage. Yet, despite this clear evidence, wild horses are often scapegoated and aggressively removed, while the more significant harm caused by cattle is largely ignored.
Imagine a powerful documentary that shines a light on the true culprits-private cattle, mining, and oil industries. These industries, driven by profit, inflict severe damage on our public lands, yet they escape scrutiny and accountability. Meanwhile, wild horses, symbols of freedom and the untamed spirit of the American West, are unjustly blamed and rounded up.
This film would expose the harsh realities of livestock overgrazing, revealing how it devastates ecosystems, erodes soil, and depletes water resources. It would contrast this with the minimal impact of wild horses, supported by scientific studies that even show how wild equids can positively affect the environment, such as increasing water availability in desert landscapes (PEER.org) (PEER.org) (American Wild Horse Conservation) (PEER.org).
By bringing these truths to light, the documentary could inspire a movement to protect our wild horses and demand more sustainable practices from the livestock, mining, and oil industries. It's time to end the scapegoating and hold the real culprits accountable for their environmental destruction.

This is one of the most noble and consequential actions towards an animal group I have ever had the priviledge to watch. Without your help these would have been several lost horses somewhere in the trade. Now they are a bonded family again due to your persistance. Much respect.

I always cry my heart out when I see how these poor horses are treated. Humans are the biggest evil on this planet, so much abuse and suffering they create for wildlife and animals in general. This lady is true angel. I followed her work for few years now. 💜

I come from a long time multi generation ranching family in wild horse country, they have very minimal impact on the range, in their current numbers, a small fraction of ranchers who try to run way too many cattle on very low quality range are the ones screaming about this, as well as mining companies. They are a symbol of the American Old West and MUST be preserved.

Just because you cannot see the effects does not mean they aren’t there. Horse numbers have been increasing since the 1970s and are currently about 3x bigger than what is considered ecologically sustainable. They have a larger per head water requirement than cattle and their overpopulation will reduce the available water access for native fauna and start further detrimental reduction of the water table. If you are truly from out west, I don’t have to explain how critical that already is. Their teeth structure allows them to pull plants out from the teoot (unlike cattle) which increases soil erosion and delays restoration of there repopulation of plant species. As one paper summarized it: “Collectively, the body of literature on unrestricted free-roaming-horse grazing demonstrates that horses have a substantial ecological impact in native upland and riparian plant communities. The ecological effects are probably greater than these studies suggest, because ecosystem recovery can be slow and because most exclusion studies are short term relative to the speed at which ecological properties are recovered following a disturbance”

It's so MOVING to see the entire family follow Blue Zeus immediately upon reuniting! It reminds me of two close friends, who haven't seen each other in years, seemingly pick up their last conversation in mid-sentence.
There are no words that can describe the moment Blue Zeus was renighted with his family. Therefore, the best I have is simply amazing. Special love to the women who saved the whole family.

When you watch these cruel roundups and realize that this is only one family of God-knows-how many, it is sickening. Thank you for what you do. My father's side of the family lived in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. On a few occasions, we got to see wild horses. It was an honor and a privilege to see them.

How can we buy a poster of Blue Zeus ?? That photographer should give you at least half the procedes to help feed and care for the herd. ❤ I will buy a poster !! Also, you need to write a book and use that photo as the cover. Maybe the photographer gets the illustration and you write the story. The whole story of your painstaking journey to get them back. Also, find someone who will make a documentary film about your fight. It looks like you have recorded the process. Now have someone put it all together in a documentary. All that money should help you take care of the herd and find someone to fill your shoes later on. ❤❤❤❤
