As a boxer, I agree with you 1,000% and I have this to say: NEVER look down on counter punchers. Never. Learning this the hard way can be very dangerous.
@@BJJMTF I was training at a gym a little bit over 10 years ago. Some cocky guy was commenting about how good of a pressure fighter he was, how aggressive, that with him its do or die and its all aggression and violence in the ring. Long story short, he ends up with a heavy concussion. The guy who gave him the concussion? A good counter puncher. The loudmouth was bullying this guy for months, until he decided to teach him a lesson. He quit the following day. Conclusion: BEWARE of counter punchers. Have a nice day.
Counter punching is a boxers weak point to be honest. Most beginners are just taught to shell up/block. In my experience, good karate guys make nice counter strikers.
Indeed. One of my krus broke my nose a few months ago and wasn't even trying (obviously). Be careful with those who have this style, even in light sparring 🙏🏻
Oh God, the same happened to me a month or so back, but I was the one to counter :l It's hard sometimes to control the power in these dynamic exchanges. I hope your nose is good!
Counter fighter - hardest aggressive fighter - most tiring defensive fighter - most boring southpaw - most annoying out fighter - most likely to be in another zip code in fighter - most in need to respect social distancing
@@joshuasasfire2759It's not always easy to mirror what's being done or to internalize and mentally switch it for my southpawness. So I was joking with my kickboxing coach that: as a southpaw, I always feel like the slow kid on the short bus since I often need something specially explained for me. His response "Yeah, that's what you [southpaws] get for being a b!tch to spar with."
im pretty similiar lol. although ive become abit more confidence with initiating boxing engagements.learing to initiate with body shots or mixing them in more frequently helps
Beterbiev showed how to best deal with counter punches. Walk them down and hope he starts to fear you, haha. It was a close fight and both pr I me wxamples of a counter puncher vs a pressure fighter... like ali and frazier. 🥊
Gabriel, what do you think of the slip bag? youve covered a lot on this channel, especially on defense and head movement, but you never made a video about the slip bag, how to use it, etc... do you use it in your own training?
Thanks for the video! Any favourite counters to share, anyone? I love to counter and swarm, chasing my partners down a bit once they're caught and/or shell up. I like to do that with broken up rhythm and varying intensity for every single attack, just punishing any openings basically. It can be hard to gauge the power though when your partner advances and you slip and counter jab for example; it definitely hits harder with both moving towards each other. This jab-slip-counter, catching low kick + cross and the no-switch front kick liver tickle are my absolute favourites.
I haven’t watched the video yet but with 8 years of experience the hardest people to spar are people with no technique. Their punches are so unorthodox you’re not expecting them.

Counter puncher look weak and vulnerable the whole fight... the moment you make a mistake : boom... dead 😅
Counter experts always make me question if I should just give up on striking altogether and focus entirely on grappling. Very grateful for this video.
Don’t give up bro. 💪🏿
@ It was an exaggeration; I wouldn‘t give up on a sport I love either way but I appreciate the encouragement.
This makes me randomly happy. Have a nice one 😁
Become the counter striker!
Stupidly setting up your opponent's pass/sweep/submission on you doesn't feel any better.
I had my first sparring class today, kickboxing! It was super fun. Thanks for the content.
Nice! I also do kickboxing what type do you do i do shanda what about you ?
Thank you. Awesome video as always, but what's the idea behind the track pants cut at different lengths??

@@LukasAteu All good thanks ! Was lucky that it broke clear and precise, healed without surgery 🙏🏻

I guess I’m the hardest, most tiring and annoying person who doesn’t understand social distancing in the gym 😅

This is pretty much my style😂😂 I get nervous to engage first so I try to counter everything while slipping, catching or block😂

Slip into this stinky shin in your face
You made this at the perfect time thank you 😭🙏🙏🙏
Try this next week. Thanks learned a lot here 🙏🏽

I have trouble with people that are long with good kicks i use a lot of feinting with counter punchers
I was supposed to answer WRESTLERS. Those guys go balls to the wall in practice whatever discipline they are sparring.

Be patient with counter punchers
Please, show us the drill with a partner, next time.
Thx, for this Video.
how to fight someone who trows allot of side kicks and spinning elbows.
When you get to the boss level
Great stuff / also pls kill hand written thumbnails - and can’t wait for you on self def champ
You say this makes you more dangerous in sparring, but wouldn’t also make you more dangerous in actual fights
Tall skinny guys … there. Saved you time watching this video
