Let us remember ANZAC Day to everyone tuning in on the 25th in honor of Australians and New Zealanders who sacrificed their lives in service to their country. Indy Neidell did a great job of summarizing this conflict and we are thankful for Sabaton bringing this historic event to light. Let us know if you prefer this new editing style for Sabaton History reactions with a full screen view, or if you prefer our previous style.

I don't know if you noticed, but quotes, "I do not order you to attack, I order you to die." And the long quote you found powerful were said by the same person, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He is also the founder of the Republic of Turkey and the first president after the Turkish War of independence.

lol'd at them not knowing that. he also was wounded in that battle too. he actually had wounds from 4-5 different battles in different places. he even lost his eyesight from the debris of an artillery shot before this battle, fighting in defense of libya. not counting the various mortal diseases he caught and survived that was common in ww i.
meanwhile churchill was letting them poor anzac soldiers die in tens of thousands in a continent thousands of miles away from their home. what "battle wounds" he had? spoiler alert: he dislocated his shoulder when playing polo in occuppied india 🤣🤣
so no, they are not the same; sending young people to die for their own benefits. one was leadin on the front.

Anzac s were thought of as "shock troops" .
See the doctor on " battle of the somme" for arrogance of the British.

Mustafa Kemal is also known as Ataturk - the founder of modern Turkey.

One of the most interesting historical figure in modern history. I mean his military career is barerly a fraction of his important aspects. Just studying his nation building progress is extremely interesting.

I like the new format, please keep it. Thanks for doing the history as well as the song.
I concur on the suggestion made by other commentator about looking into the Finnish winterwar. There are several songs that are loosely connected. Talvisota, White Death and Man of 3 armies. Very interesting history episodes to them as well.

Sounds good, we will use this new format unless asked to do otherwise. Always interesting to dive into history! Thanks for the song suggestions, will make sure we have them on the list.

Sick man of Europe stems from Ottomans overextending in their hayday - getting all the way to siege Vienna(Austria) twice... But since the defeat at second siege of Vienna in 1683(Sabaton's song Winged hussars btw), the Empire was in decline, slowly being beaten back by various nations, uprisings within its borders, etc.
It was slowly falling apart, slowly dying, like a diseased man.

    • @melkor3496
      @melkor3496 ปีที่แล้ว

Basically unlike most other countries and empires the Ottomans slowly became weaker over time.
Very complicated as to why you’ll have to dig deep into the political institutions etc to truly understand it.

You should also look into the songs about older history.
"The last stand" about the Swiss guard and the 1527 sackaros of Rome is great.
"Winged Hussars" about the Battle of Vienna in 1683 (one of the largest cavalry charges in history).
"En livstid i krig" about the Thirty Years War. There is a really good live version of this song. The song is also done in both English and Swedish but the lyrics take different angles on the war. The English version is more of an overview of the conlift as a whole and the Swedish version is from the point of view of Swedish soldier.
The song "Carolus Rex" is also great and one of their most famous songs.
If you are most into the world wars then you should really look into "Uprising" and "Inmate 4859". The history is a must know.

    • @Vr4nj3s

Everything from this list is epic, inmate 4859 is specificly deer to me, and the story is very fascinating and incredible, but it is very dark song

@@x2zchatHey I doubt you’ll see this but I really hope you do. Please wait with reacting to “En livstid i krig” until you decide to react to all of the Swedish empire album. If you are interested I can recommend the album to you in the correct order that way it will be like following the history of the Swedish empire from beginning to end.
If you are interested in that I mean. They specifically made all their songs on that album on chronological order so you follow different events from beginning to end of the Swedish great power era.

52:45 yup, there are lots of boars and jackals in that area that would dig out fresh burials. they were probably scared at the fighting and scattered but would surely return afterwards. also i don't think the allied forces had the time or stamina to dig 6 feet deep as english standards goes at the time. but most of them were replaced to a decent cemetary afterwards.

Great reaction, interesting history, thanks! When I listen to this song I remember the most what I heard that the deffenders took the whole year of graduates in Konstantynopol to refill their army. Such a waste of lives :(
The most epic Joakim's rolling "r" is in Bismarck: the teRRor of the seas. Every Sabaton fan should listen to this :-)

51:32 From the memoirs of ottoman officers we know that ottoman high command was aware of the retreat and their policy is let them go. Because ottomans had less resources and manpower. It would be easier for British the replace the losses if such an attack was made.
Also you missed the part that final quote was by Atatürk (he's the founder of modern Turkey) who was also said "I order you to die not attack".

I appreciate that you guys are so interested in learning about the history and for future videos where I feel it’s necessary I can add further information in the comments. (I’m a bit of a history buff)
And in the future if you haven’t yet I might recommend reacting to their Swedish empire album in both English and Swedish but that’s for later. I will recommend it in a specific order of reacting to that album for historical purposes.

We do roll our R's in Swedish a lot, almost more often than not I'd say (certainly felt like it, I used to have a speech impediment, and one of the letters I couldn't say was R, especially rolling R) It's to the point that I had never realized Joakim was adding the rolling until hearing reactors point it out. I'm so accustomed to hearing R's rolled that it never stood out to me so I never noticed

Standing on a defensive position against enemy which indeed has loaded guns as well as ammunition won’t make you much more likely to survive than a bayonet charge which if successful at least some can survive and if not would buy time.
On the other hand the only alternative for them to not “waste blood” is retreat as standing their ground is impossible without ammunition… which is what makes this trade reasonable. Of course digging yourself in is always better for a defender, but for that you need bullets.
