  • Hi! I’m Tammy Salamone, The Pink Survivor, and this is, “The Year I Wish I Could Erase." This is the third in a series of videos going through my entire breast cancer story.
This third video is talking about my ultrasound guided biopsy and what the nurse told me that day. That nurse helped me make the decision between a lumpectomy or a mastectomy that later on turned out to be the very best decision. #breastcancer #breastbiopsy #cancersurvivor
I have been married to my very patient and loving husband, Dean, for over 26 years and we have three beautiful daughters together. I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and I’m confident my fitness level helped me before, during and after my breast cancer diagnosis.
In early 2017, I was told I had an early stage breast cancer and then things began to spiral and overtook my entire life for almost two years. I’m telling my story today to help others going through the same thing and offer hope, that in time, life will be ok again. Thank you for being here!

I’d love to hear about your experience and if you have ever had an ultrasound guided biopsy or an MRI.

I'm scheduled for an ultrasound in 2 weeks to determine if they can do an ultrasound biopsy or if I have to do the MRI guided biopsy. I did the MRI w and w/out contrast this past week and it was very painful for me (ribs and above solar plexus and I dread having to do a 3.5 hr appointment w/ doc and MRI guided biopsy... Hoping for the ultrasound one instead. If they can do the ultrasound one, I can get in 5 days later, otherwise I'll have to wait an additional 2 weeks for the MRI one (timeframe from 1st initial appointment for breast specialist referral to biopsy will be 2.5 mos).

@@praeeo I’m going to pray you are able to do the ultrasound one too. I’m so sorry you’ve already been through so much 😞 Please let me know how it all goes and if you have any questions along the way I’d be happy to help.

I don't think you realize how fortunate you are. I am near two very good hospital systems known for cancer treatment, but all those scans and MRI's and biopsies that you got so quickly....sometimes it takes 7-14 days to get an appointment.

You are absolutely right! Thank you for sharing. Aggressive cancers can be growing and spreading with each passing day and that’s scary to think about. I was just so overwhelmed and knew nothing about breast cancer when I was first diagnosed.
Hope you are doing well now 🙏🩷

@@tammysalamone-thepinksurvivor Yes, I can sure understand that. We have come to this from completely opposite ends; I found a big painful lump in my armpit in December and it’s taken all these months from my first wonky mammogram in late January to a non-conclusive needle biopsy, non-conclusive excision biopsy, PET scan, breast MRI, new ultrasound-guided biopsies, lots of waiting on results, etc. (lymph nodes take 10-14 days to get results back) to finally a pathology report two days ago confirming occult breast cancer and now waiting on the hormone receptor report to determine the type. My path-as this is already stage 3 because of the two new areas found and biopsied after the PET-is chemo, surgery, radiation. Other therapies will, of course, be determined by the receptor type. Anyway, neither one of us checked off any boxes for breast cancer risk (I personally thought it was close to impossible as I have birthed and nursed five children and eat a near-vegan whole food diet, and have been a runner most of my adult life) but you got the freight train (what the hell just happened?!!) and I’ve gotten the slow agonizing drip. I am happy for you for having navigated it well and I have learned some things from your videos.

@@vegrunner6688 It just makes no sense at times! You are obviously strong and healthy and it does seem nearly impossible to imagine we both got breast cancer! We are great examples of that no one is immune to cancer and sometimes it just happens. We are also great examples of how different each diagnosis is and how different the paths to treatment are. Looking back I am so grateful for the prompt attention I was given and I certainly hope you are now receiving the very best care and options available.
I am curious if you experienced a great deal of stress before this all happened? I ask because I definitely did and I often wonder what part that all played. Maybe I was always going to get cancer but I feel the stress brought in on sooner.
Thanks for sharing and commenting! I really appreciate you and all you are going through. Please let me know if I can answer any of your questions along the way. XO💕

Hear a click , which i did and it was over .i bruised a tiny bit but nothing much..i think you had a sadist doing your biopsy...get a new doctor..my Mom had a sadist do hers too and he didn't freeze her and she was screaming.

They claimed it was because I had extremely dense breast tissue.
I don’t have to worry about that anymore though since I had a double mastectomy.
I’m glad yours went much easier than mine! 👏😊🙏
