@@JonesCoolAid it’s good for drilling moves over and over to build muscle memory. It’s good for working on your squeeze in various submissions because you can squeeze as long and hard as you want to, the dummy doesn’t care. You can train yourself to stay heavy in all places as you transition from place to place on the dummy. Another thing I do is work offense

Padraig! Great review & very cool to hear the Irish accent! I'm in a similar-ish boat in that life means I can't & won't be able to get to the gym as much as I want going forward... I'm a life long Gaelic footballer who found martial arts just over two (covid) years ago. I'm chasing time (42 now in May; just had my first novice MMA fight) & I realise solo training will need to be a (big) part of my practice going forward; I/we can't be away out of the house every evening training jiu-jitsu!! I bought an unfilled dummy/'corpse' during Lockdown, but the filling process near broke my heart + I just couldn't get it right. I'm seriously considering buying a filled SMARTY & getting it shipped to Ireland... Expensive I know, but I'm thinking it could turn out to be priceless! Thoughts?
First off, Go raibh míle maith agat! I worked VERY hard to get this done the right way. I wish it was my lighting was a wee bit better, but this is all I could do. Defo... BUY IT! You will not regret it. The dummy has really changed my abilities in a positive way. Spend the cash. It's TOTALLY worth it, especially if you're a motivated guy. Thanks again!!!!!! PS Be certain to use the discount code. It'll save you a few bob! If you do buy it, every once in a while inspect the stitching. You want to catch any aberrations before they happen.
Glad it was helpful!apologies for taking so long to get back to you. My main TH-cam channel is really taking up all of my time. I will be posting the new video which reviews/compares the 2.0 and the 2.0 XL. If you hit the notification bell you should be able to be notified when I post it
Big apologies for not getting back to you on your question. I don't really use this channel much/it's not my main channel, so it's my fault that I neglected the comment section. Yes mine did come pre-filled and I wouldn't do it any other way. It is such a pain in the hole to fill it yourself. So I figured I'll just let the professionals do it so I can have hands that are not sore and patience that's not worn!
have you tried the submission master or proboxing model grappling dummies? I’m leaning towards this smarty one but before I make the investment I wanted to ask someone like you that has more experience with these. Thanks so much.
Ryan, apologies for taking so long to get back to you. My main TH-cam channel is really taking up all of my time. No I haven't tried those other two, but after having used the smarty 1.0 and now the 2.0 and 2.0 XL I would have to say I would simply just stick with the smarty brand! I will be posting the new video which reviews/compares the 2.0 and the 2.0 XL. If you hit the notification bell you should be able to be notified when I post it
For that get the XL and the way sorry for the long delay in replying. Yes you can use it for throwing techniques but you have to hold it off the ground obviously to perform them. I would say that for throwing techniques there are better dummies/throwing dummies… But yes you can use this.
Sorry for the late reply… This is not my main channel! I will be getting the 2.0 momentarily and then I will also be making a video. The 1.0 is discontinued so there is no option to choose one or the other.
I’ve owned a unique 50 lbs dummy for over 20 years. What most trainees need to understand is that dummy’s need to be approached as more of an academic tool for learning and refining techniques. As a “Workout” apparatus, it’s not ideal; in other words reppping to exhaustion
I spend about 30-45 minutes training with a grappling dummy before I go train live. Really gets my mind and body ready.
So sorry for the long delay in responding. Yes that's a great idea and you probably do really well because of that right?
How does it transfer for you. Do u feel its helping yr technique?

@@JonesCoolAid offense by moving the dummy around and thinking “if we end up in this place, what are my best attacks….” Then I practice those.

Great review! I just ordered the Smarty XL measuring 6”2.
