      CM punk is the most exciting wrestler. He doesn't need steroids to perform! AEW seems to be WWE drop outs or new boys but the amazing Saraya is an exception. CM Punk had the guts to call out Vince Mcmahan and made wrestling fun. Only Stone coldresembles cm punk. I LOVE how a wrestler doesn't need to be full of steroids, barely move at 45 or overdose :(. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are the future. Someone tell steroids obsessed Vince that we don't care about fake bodies damaging bodies.

      While not being as snarky, I have to not only second the point @drradon made but also mention Schiavone that wouldn't have know that Hangman even was going into business in that moment because the only two involved in figuring out what was supposed to be said in that promo was Punk and Hangman making them the only two people in the company who knew in that moment that Hangman was going into business for himself. Punk himself has broken down how all that went down hence how I know that.

    Something about the Hangman promo that doesn’t get talked about a lot is Tony Schiavone’s body language. There’s a point where you can tell he realizes Hangman is going off the agreed path because you can see him talking to the announcers table right after the “Worker’s rights” line. Then he has to go back to being next to Punk to talk to him like he was originally supposed to.

    • @raipanda133
      @raipanda133 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      Also, of EVERYONE that was involved from beginning to end, Kenny Omega was the biggest victim of everything. His reputation is what helped start AEW, his name is what got them off the ground when he was champion, he was caught in the middle of defending his friends and defending the business, he was the one who tried to be the voice of reason, and he probably feels the worst because he probably feels like it couldn’t been prevented had he been more involved. I may not like all of Omega’s matches, and I may not like his on screen character all that much, but I came out of everything respecting him the most. I think he definitely was forced to play into all the BTE stuff against Punk after everything happened to keep appearances up, and was doing it for his friends, but I feel like there was a part of him that just wanted to move past it and look to the future.

    That Punk/MJF feud was gold, especially that first showdown on the mic, elevated each other. Despite the BS in AEW, the biggest disappointment was TK not being able to use the IRL drama between Punk, the EVP's and their lackies. So much money and ratings were pissed away because of a lack of leadership from the boss, and too much ego/insecurity from the Bucks. What a feud that could have been.

    The main difference is everyone else whether they liked Punk or not when they cut promos and were intense with each other, it was all stuff they were able to go over and they were able to work together. Even Eddie Kingston who says he doesn't like the guy personally, was able to put that aside and they were both able to work together to sell tickets and make money together. Because that's what wrestlers do, regardless of how they feel about one another personally. It wasn't till one of the Elite aka Kliq 2.0 feuded with Punk in Hangman Paige, that decided to go into business for himself AS CHAMPION... that screwed everything up. People like to quote Moxley's promo or Kingston's promo and go "See!? Look at them own Punk here!!" but they don't understand, all that was done with the knowledge of the other, all of it was constructed with one another. Whether it was ideas liked/disliked or what not, they were okayed. There's a trust there. When you go into business for yourself for a promo it's considered unprofessional, and THE GUY of your upstart company doing that is an issue.
    John Cena often talks about when he went into business for himself in his feud with The Rock, where he went off-script to take a jab at the Rock they didn't okay, and he did it because he felt he needed to in order to be on the same level as The Rock because he felt like hw still appeared miniscule in comparison rather than the best of his generation vs the best all-time in The Rock. But that They stayed professional after, and right after Wrestlemania, Cena apologized to The Rock's mother, and apologized to The Rock backstage and they squashed it and are now closer. But he looks back on it as a mistake and that he was wrong for it. That is the difference between people like The Elite and most other wrestlers. They don't apologize because they know they don't have to, and because Tony isn't going to do anything about it. Cena as THE GUY in the company knowing he had pull and Vince probably wasn't going to do anything to him, STILL went to both The Rock's family and himself to apologize and work things out after going into business for himself. This is something Paige couldn't do, this is something The Elite and their flunkies can't do. And that is why CM Punk is no longer there. They can take pot shots in the ring, and can make petty little references on live TV, but when it comes time to actually try to talk with the guy, they gotta put a time limit on it, or avoid it. And because Tony doesn't have the stones to say "No, you hash this out NOW, none of this petty BS." they get away with it. That's what separates other wrestlers from the likes of The Elite when it comes to attitude/temperament and entitlement. It's why the biggest draw of their company is now back in WWE now, and why AEW's 2nd biggest star vs their biggest star for the title couldn't even fill half an arena.
    The sad reality is, if Danielson or Adam Cole had been put over Hangman Paige and was the one to feud with Punk. He'd still be in AEW and none of this would have happened. Marinate on that.

      And the cowardly Bucks came out and said AFTER Punk got fired that if Punk could get through six months without an altercation, they would work things out with him... What a crock of 💩💩💩... Just One of the reasons why AEW or The Counterfeit Bucks will NEVER be taken seriously.... They probably were those kids in school who got held up by one leg and their lunch money fell out of their pockets and was taken, so now they grew up (???) and want to get even with everyone....

      This is intentional! I appreciate the feedback!
      They’re intervals of 3, 5 or 8 seconds. Some blackouts are intentionally longer to section the video better.
      For example, after the MJF feud I put an 8 second blackout to symbolise the ending of that sequence and the start of the new one. So it isn’t continuous on purpose. It’s meant to be in blocks.

    I think the Eddie Kingston part is the most poignant. You had a bunch of guys who can’t draw a dime outside of the indies who view themselves as big “stars”. They have a higher opinion of themselves than any of the fans do. You finally get a billionaire who’s willing to start a company that you think you’re going to be the “star” of. Only to have him bring in a bigger star than you. This guy gets more attention then you, is a bigger star then you, sales more pay per views and creates more ratings then you do, and generates alot more interest in your product then you ever will. Instead of taking the challenge of saying “you know what, this guy is going to bring in a lot of eye balls. This is a good chance to show some of those new eye balls what I can do, and create some new fans from this extra attention”. Instead they get jealous and act petty. It’s the reason why a guy like LA knight is a huge star, and the young bucks, Eddie kingstons, and Hangman Pages of the world never will be. Instead of looking at every piece of adversity as a challenge, and taking it as an opportunity to prove to everyone else that you are what you believe you are. A star. You blame everyone else and make excuses. Look, I know punk is probably an asshole. Not a lot of people can handle brutal honesty. The truth is a blow to their ego. But no one can dispute that punk is a huge star. He left wrestling for years, shoot he left the WWE for almost 10 years. But people still chanted his name, and when he came back it was immediately a huge boom to business. Love him or hate him, Phil brooks is the real deal. And he lives rent free in the “elites” head all day long

    The promos that are about to be filled with half shoots just between Rollins,Rhodes and Punk are gonna be epic. Hell, if they play it write,they’ll say things people will be watching 20 years from now.

    I think he arrived humble and ready to make things better. I think he was bullied by envious folks within the business. Time will tell.
    I for one think he adds value and money to the industry regardless of brand.

      Yep. Punk said multiple times it wasnt personal but business. Any jackass who is remotely intelligent can read between the lines and say hey wait a minute is adam page pissed that hes gonna lose the title to punk because punk is a bigger star? Seems that way. Because its good for BUSINESS and it was. Clearly. But page wasnt playing that game. He took it personal

    Thank you for this awesome documentary!! It is finally nice to see one where both sides of the story are being told without bias, I am and will always be a Punk supporter but even I admit that sometimes his ego gets in the way of himself. Regardless of that, the beginning of this documentary perfectly encapsulates what he was up against from the beginning and I think the young bucks, hangman, jack perry were all children, and as realistic as Eddie's promo was and some underlying truth with what he was speaking he is grown enough to later on state how he has no problems with CM Punk, while the EVPs and their followers just lost one of their biggest draws and Tony struggles with buy 1 get 1 ticket sales and let's see how long he can last with that.... just saying...

    Great video. I haven't seen a second of Punk's tenure at AEW prior to this and I'm kind of surprised by how split the audiences are in most cases, half of them cheer him and half of them boo him.

    As someone whos coming late to the Party (Wrestling-Return in February 23 after nearler 15 years) I wonder hiw Cody Rhodes Run in AEW looked like, just because he seems to be a bug pillar concerning the build up of AEW. And yeah... thanks for that awesome Content all the time ❤

    • @PrisStratton-hd7zn
      @PrisStratton-hd7zn ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Cody had a perfect opportunity to turn heel, go back on his word not to challenge for the AEW belt and use his power to get a title shot. He was already getting booed as it was. Shame he didn’t lean into that.
