This is "kind of" the Enslaved I dig. Without Dirge Rep on drums, it lacks the organic feel and especially the aggression (although, Dirge was sloppy). Enslaved, from Frost, then from Blodhemn to Below The Lights are incredible!! I lost interest in Enslaved with Isa. I've still checked out their matieral here and there, Ruune, End Times, Vertebrae, etc. None of it is engaging for me, unfortunately. I get why people like it, none of it is bad in any way or form, but almost everything that made me a fan of Enslaved is gone. All good bands evolve, sometimes the evolution goes in the direction you like, sometimes it doesn't. Oh well.. Enslaved is still a good band to this day, but I can't help but imagine what they would sound like now if when Dirge Rep left they got a more talented blackmetal drummer. Can you imagine if they ended up with someone like Nils Fjellström, or if Trym Torson came back? Imagine having a drummer of that caliber, then starting to head into Isa, Ruune, Vertebrae territory? That would be awesome!!! You'd have the experimental side and retain the aggression of Frost and Blodhemn with better drumming. That would rule!!
