I have been down through that area before, but had forgot about it until I saw the antler arches. It was in August 1967 when I was there. Seems like forever ago.

Great video. Have not seen the idaho side and will have to visit there. Been down moose Wilson road. Be glad you turned around. It was tight with just the truck, no trailer. low hanging trees muddy and bumpy not to mention so narrow I was hitting side markers with the mirrors when passing oncoming cars.

Yes definitely, point and shoot for the first shot 😂 the Big horns were our very first mountain pass! Still one our favorites, the switch backs coming down into Ten sleep are amazing!

I used to get really uncomfortable going down steep grades when pulling our travel trailer. I installed a BANKS speed brake on my 3500 LTZ (LMM) and now it's not a big deal. The last 10% grade I went down I maintained a speed of 35MPH (which was the speed limit) without touching the brakes one time (I actually had to give it a little throttle on occasion). Our CGVW is a little over 16,000lbs. Love your guys' videos. I've seen so many spots that I never would have thought of that I want to visit from watching you guys. EDIT: No. I'm not affiliated with BANKS in any way, just a satisfied customer.
The engine brake makes all the difference in the world! Same as you if we let it just do it’s thing it hovers between 35-40 . Glad we can help add to the bucket list! Thanks for watching 👊

White water rafting can be a lot of fun , I went on a 3 day trip down the middle fork of the American river . I used a rafting company All Outdoors Rafting in northern California and it was amazing , they moved our gear to each campsite and prepared all the food for 3 days , I honestly felt it was cheap at twice the price for what we got . The Snake river has always been a rafting trip I've wanted to do along with the Grand Canyon , where ever you go I strongly suggest a multi day trip it's so nice !
Glad you found the "quiet side of the mountains." Most stay on the East side. Lived due West of Tetonia in the Teton Valley on the mountain backed up to Targhee Forest in the early 80s. Beautiful place, especially if you like lots of winter! ~ Kir
Your tip about emptying the tanks at a truck stop (example) and then quickly having a shower to freshen up for the drive and emptying again before leaving was great. We travel in a class B sprinter van and do not have a lot of room for error with our gray and black storage tanks so using this technique becomes very useful. Thanks. Also, do either of you have a little bit of German in your background? :)
We drove the Moose Wilson Road in our SUV last September, it was quite narrow and very rough with a lot of traffic. Many folks drive it to see wildlife or at least that was our why! We didn't have much luck in the way of wildlife either. It does have two way traffic but no way could anyone pass around a big trailer. Glad you you guys noticed the sign before getting too far!

Was so excited to see this video. We were one of the vehicles that went by you as you were backing up. The road is a beautiful drive, but definitely not with a trailer. This is when we started following you guys. Can't wait to meet y'all on Fridsy.
Cheap suggestion for managing your slide/floor issue until you can get it fixed. When we noticed early on that our slide was starting to leave black marks on the floor we bought a cheap chair mat from Staples and cut two strips from it to place under the ends of the slide when we bring it in. They're lightweight and easy to store when the slide is out and it keeps the slide from damaging the floor.
I left Christmas day last year from Olalla WA. I'm on the road permanently in my silver converted Mercedes Sprinter extended wheelbase, extended body, high-top 3500 diesel. Sold everything and left. Happy :o)
You are correct. I was yelling, No! You can't go on the Moose Wilson Rd! No! Very narrow, somewhat windy, but there is a section that is unpaved and quite rough. This last part of the road was supposed to be paved this summer (2021). I have not heard whether it happened or not. Still, there are many trees right next to the road and low hanging branches in places. A couple tight turns where your TT would not make it.

So......how cold was the water? We live just below the Canyon Lake dam in Texas. The water at our place on the Guadalupe River is 60 deg F plus or minus 3 degrees year round. The initial shock will take your breath, but you acclimate quickly and the tubing is either sluggish OK, OK, or very OK, depending on the speed of the river flow. And yes....Idaho is beautiful. Keep on keeping on, guys! Love the videos.
Our GPS took us on California 4 from Yosemite to Tahoe. (24% grade) Talk about backtracking! Forty five miles out of our way, and then we had to find somewhere for diesel!

The road from Wilson to Moose becomes dirt and vry narrow right after the Teton Resort, most likely why you could not drive a trailer down it and having been there a few time you made the right decission.
Finally somewhere I've been, like 20 years ago, in Jackson. What a great place, and the scale of the mountains is amazing. I've added Idaho to the must do list. Bummer on the mid day light. Hopefully you'll get your fill of the golden hour down here in the FLA. CHEERS!

We try and do the same thing with recreating vacations photos through the years with our kids. Brings back memories and shows how much the kids have grown. Safe travels.
Coming down the Teton Pass into Jackson was a very scary trip for me when towing a 35 foot trailer and I had a truck with a gas engine. I overheated my brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I had to use my emergency brake to stop and it wasn’t easy. I came very close to deliberately dragging the side down a cliff to stop as a last resort. It was my own fault. I had it in low gear but went too fast because cars were tailgating me and pushing me. I couldn’t stay off the brakes long enough for them to cool off. I know better now and don’t worry about the tailgaters plus I have a diesel with exhaust brake.
That’s scary for sure! There was actually a TT ahead of us while going down, he was on his brakes the whole way down, we could smell it… safety first in situations like that, people can wait the extra 60 seconds . Stoked to hear you have the engine brake now💪
Yea. I did that in my Buick at midnight. Pulled over a turn out. Sat for about an hour. Made it to Riverton at about 3 in the morning. Fun times for sure. My son in law chewed me out. 😂
I can not wait to see my first Moose this year when I visit Grand Teton in the summer. I am just hoping for clear sky when I go. Looks so breathtaking.

I loved seeing the moose. I went back 3 times and start/stop to see the sketch book. Which one of the girls is the artist. They have a gift and continue to hone your skills. Their animals look very realistic, especially the snake! Safe travels my Friends.
As soon as I saw the title and thumbnail, I thought: “I bet they tried the Moose Wilson Rd.”! Had the same thing happen a few years ago in a Class C motorhome, coming from the north. We were actually spending a night an an RV park off Moose Wilson Rd. just out of Wilson. Where the sign was placed, there was no place to pull off and far too much traffic. Had to maneuver in to a forest preserve parking area to turn around. Good thing you caught it and turned around where you did, because the north portion of that road is NOT fun with an oversize vehicle!
Jackson is a busy spot. So busy we only did a ride around, then camped down in Alpine. In the morning, headed south east for 3 hours through the forest roads to Big Piney✌ Never forget the guy at the bar in Alpine " you guy's rode them big dirt bikes all the way from Canada?" 🙌😌

If you guys want to do some white water rafting, the Wolf River in Langlade Wi at J’s Landing is the best in wisconsin to do, they have tubing to rafting and I and my husband go about 3 times a year down the wolf river and it’s beautiful
Oops! Well great job getting out of there! We went through Jackson with our rig too, even found a place to park and stayed a few hours, but ours isn’t as big as yours. The Tetons are SO beautiful, right?!!!
I was stationed in Idaho way back when I was in the USAF. Our radar site was right above the Snake River on the Idaho - Oregon border near a little town called Wilder about 40 miles Northwest of Boise. Sunsets were spectacular. Overall how do you like your Grand Design? It's just my wife and I - and the cat - we just bought an Imagine XLS 22RBE last June. So far so good. We updated from a 1990 Holiday Rambler that was the same size but no slide. The slide makes a huge difference. Safe travels. Great channel

Oh ya, Moose Wilson Rd is not Rv friendly. Half of it is unpaved and not much clearance. But if you have the opportunity to drive it without the trailer, it’s well worth it!
Your boondock tip sounds great, but brought up questions for me since we are looking to boondock more. Never thought of asking before since I see you guys boondock quite a bit but I don't see any solar panels on top. 1)What battery/ies do you use and how many? 2) Do you have an inverter to run other appliances or plugs? 3) How long do your batteries typically last before needing recharged? I understand my tanks since we camp a lot with no sewer but no electrical makes me nervous if we run out especially if slides are out and cannot get them in.
We have a Honda 2200 generator, 2 batteries (112 AH each) 2 portable solar panels, and 1500 watt inverter. We would generally fire up the generator for a couple hrs a day while boondocking. I’m speaking a little in past tense because we’re in the process of upgrading and this summer will be a little different. The point is you don’t need much to get out there. Start with a generator and at least 2 batteries ( we have Everstart 29 DC batteries $90 each at Walmart) the inverter is generally just to run the TV and charge computers. Add solar after IMHO, especially if your on a budget . A generator and gas are cheap, just loud…. Hope that helps!
Be sure to check State laws regarding PFDs when floating waterways. In Oregon, you have to wear a PFD when floating in an inner tube. My son found that out when he wasn't wearing one and ended up paying a $300 fine!
I highly recommend rafting on the snake river from hoback junction towards alpine. You can get guided tours in Jackson. Also if you take the drive from Jackson towards Lander Wyoming I would spend some time in the wind river mountains. Amazing! Better then the Tetons. Just google some images of the wind rivers.
My wife and I loved Idaho. We rode are motorcycle to Boise in 2019 for a Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association National meeting. After we rode Rexburg and then took this same route into Jackson hole and the Tetons. Where were you Boondocking at in Driggs and can you run a generator?
Lots of things to see in Jackson WY but you better like driving in congested traffic and walking in Disneyland like crowds. And housing is crazy expensive.
LOVE the moose. We saw one our last trip to Yellowstone but it may have been in the Tetons anyway it was a female with a baby. It was too far away for a good picture. My husbands aunt had one on their deck they live in Moscow, ID. This area you are in is my favorite. I love Yellowstone/Tetons and have been there at least 7 times.
Reminds me of growing up and my mom picking the grey swingle line on the map. Ended up having to guide my dad over two planks over a stream. Wish I could see you in Tampa.

If you ever get stuck, do not unhook from trailer. If you can't get out how will you hook up?

Jackson on a motorcycle a few years ago, rode in, made a loop around the square, got pictures of the arches, left, didn't even stop for gas.

The road from Wilson to Moose becomes dirt and vry narrow right after the Teton Resort, most likely why you could not drive a trailer down it and having been there a few time you made the right decission.

Finally somewhere I've been, like 20 years ago, in Jackson. What a great place, and the scale of the mountains is amazing. I've added Idaho to the must do list. Bummer on the mid day light. Hopefully you'll get your fill of the golden hour down here in the FLA. CHEERS!

Coming down the Teton Pass into Jackson was a very scary trip for me when towing a 35 foot trailer and I had a truck with a gas engine. I overheated my brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I had to use my emergency brake to stop and it wasn’t easy. I came very close to deliberately dragging the side down a cliff to stop as a last resort. It was my own fault. I had it in low gear but went too fast because cars were tailgating me and pushing me. I couldn’t stay off the brakes long enough for them to cool off. I know better now and don’t worry about the tailgaters plus I have a diesel with exhaust brake.
That’s scary for sure! There was actually a TT ahead of us while going down, he was on his brakes the whole way down, we could smell it… safety first in situations like that, people can wait the extra 60 seconds . Stoked to hear you have the engine brake now💪
Engine brakes and exhaust brakes are so great to have. I have them on my ram 2500, i used to have a gasser, Big difference now
Yea. I did that in my Buick at midnight. Pulled over a turn out. Sat for about an hour. Made it to Riverton at about 3 in the morning. Fun times for sure. My son in law chewed me out. 😂
I can not wait to see my first Moose this year when I visit Grand Teton in the summer. I am just hoping for clear sky when I go. Looks so breathtaking.
Drive down Gros Ventre Rd at sunset over by the river there are pull outs where moose hang out. Enjoy your trip!

I loved seeing the moose. I went back 3 times and start/stop to see the sketch book. Which one of the girls is the artist. They have a gift and continue to hone your skills. Their animals look very realistic, especially the snake! Safe travels my Friends.
As soon as I saw the title and thumbnail, I thought: “I bet they tried the Moose Wilson Rd.”!
Had the same thing happen a few years ago in a Class C motorhome, coming from the north. We were actually spending a night an an RV park off Moose Wilson Rd. just out of Wilson.
Where the sign was placed, there was no place to pull off and far too much traffic. Had to maneuver in to a forest preserve parking area to turn around.
Good thing you caught it and turned around where you did, because the north portion of that road is NOT fun with an oversize vehicle!

Jackson is a busy spot. So busy we only did a ride around, then camped down in Alpine. In the morning, headed south east for 3 hours through the forest roads to Big Piney✌
Never forget the guy at the bar in Alpine " you guy's rode them big dirt bikes all the way from Canada?" 🙌😌

If you guys want to do some white water rafting, the Wolf River in Langlade Wi at J’s Landing is the best in wisconsin to do, they have tubing to rafting and I and my husband go about 3 times a year down the wolf river and it’s beautiful

Oops! Well great job getting out of there! We went through Jackson with our rig too, even found a place to park and stayed a few hours, but ours isn’t as big as yours. The Tetons are SO beautiful, right?!!!
I was stationed in Idaho way back when I was in the USAF.
Our radar site was right above the Snake River on the Idaho - Oregon border near a little town called Wilder about 40 miles Northwest of Boise.
Sunsets were spectacular.
Overall how do you like your Grand Design?
It's just my wife and I - and the cat - we just bought an Imagine XLS 22RBE last June. So far so good. We updated from a 1990 Holiday Rambler that was the same size but no slide. The slide makes a huge difference.

Oh ya, Moose Wilson Rd is not Rv friendly. Half of it is unpaved and not much clearance. But if you have the opportunity to drive it without the trailer, it’s well worth it!
Your boondock tip sounds great, but brought up questions for me since we are looking to boondock more. Never thought of asking before since I see you guys boondock quite a bit but I don't see any solar panels on top.
1)What battery/ies do you use and how many?
2) Do you have an inverter to run other appliances or plugs?
3) How long do your batteries typically last before needing recharged?
I understand my tanks since we camp a lot with no sewer but no electrical makes me nervous if we run out especially if slides are out and cannot get them in.
We have a Honda 2200 generator, 2 batteries (112 AH each) 2 portable solar panels, and 1500 watt inverter. We would generally fire up the generator for a couple hrs a day while boondocking. I’m speaking a little in past tense because we’re in the process of upgrading and this summer will be a little different. The point is you don’t need much to get out there. Start with a generator and at least 2 batteries ( we have Everstart 29 DC batteries $90 each at Walmart) the inverter is generally just to run the TV and charge computers. Add solar after IMHO, especially if your on a budget . A generator and gas are cheap, just loud…. Hope that helps!

Be sure to check State laws regarding PFDs when floating waterways. In Oregon, you have to wear a PFD when floating in an inner tube. My son found that out when he wasn't wearing one and ended up paying a $300 fine!
Oregon is a little nutty, I think technically you’re supposed to register kayaks too🤷♂️ that’s kinda absurd, a $300 fine ….
I highly recommend rafting on the snake river from hoback junction towards alpine. You can get guided tours in Jackson. Also if you take the drive from Jackson towards Lander Wyoming I would spend some time in the wind river mountains. Amazing! Better then the Tetons. Just google some images of the wind rivers.
My wife and I loved Idaho. We rode are motorcycle to Boise in 2019 for a Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association National meeting. After we rode Rexburg and then took this same route into Jackson hole and the Tetons. Where were you Boondocking at in Driggs and can you run a generator?
Lots of things to see in Jackson WY but you better like driving in congested traffic and walking in Disneyland like crowds. And housing is crazy expensive.
We’ve made a few trips to the Tetons (June 2017 & July 2021). It’s definitely in my top 3 for sure. Love the videos as always.

Interesting sign. Our A class is the same size as a long bed Ram duelly. If a Ram can go through we can go through. But it appears not.
LOVE the moose. We saw one our last trip to Yellowstone but it may have been in the Tetons anyway it was a female with a baby. It was too far away for a good picture. My husbands aunt had one on their deck they live in Moscow, ID. This area you are in is my favorite. I love Yellowstone/Tetons and have been there at least 7 times.
