It should be the meaning behind it not the cost Most of thise rings look the same or ugly and you wouldn't know how much its worth to the world if someone didn't tell you
It would be far more precious to have a fairly "cheap"(500$?) custom made ring from a small jeweler or a simple family ring(0$ - 100% commitment). Rings in my family were just a gold band traditionally. No gem. Poor folk ✨🤷
My Ring was 8K but I had him return it and got me one for 1000$. I thought it was stupid to have something that expensive while we are trying to buy a home and he needed a car for school. This is something people put too much emphasis on for no reason other than wanting to eventually get it's money worth when it doesn't workout. To the ladies that are mad I said what said.....😂. Ya'll hate when the truth is spoken huh?! You buy an 8K ring,I dare you to sell it for more later😂. Fb market full of them.....Go look😂.
Big facts homie❤❤❤ my girl even said the same thing she was like “if you go into debt getting me a ring than why would you buy it to harm our financials ?, I like breakfast at Tiffany’s but I ain’t Tiffany “
I remember reading stories about people who received cheap wedding rings. One stuck with me, where a welder cut a piece of pipe, smoothed the edges and asked her to marry him. She said she still wears it, and loves looking at it every day. She was given the opportunity several years later, to get something nicer because they made more money, and she declined because the ring meant everything to her. The truth is that the ring is valuable because a promise was made with it, not due to it's material value.
When truly in love, The ring doesn't matter the money doesn't matter, Being with the person your love is what matters. Those little signs that show they care and think of you are far more Precious, They're just dumping a bunch of money on a lump of metal and stone. I would rather have the welded Homemade Ring Then several $1000 diamond. That would feel so much more like a symbol love, Rather than what I consider a waste of money. I'd rather that money goes towards building a home together, Living experiences and making beautiful memories.
@@wimsylogic65 Exactly! A handmade ring has so much more symbolism and meaning when the man you love made it himself. That's something to be passed down too if you have kids. What chick would choose a mass produced ring over that?
Crazy how many people will drop $$$ on a wedding ring but can’t pay off their student loans. Get a regular cute ring and then drop that money on a DO for a HOME! 🤦🏽♀️ priorities need to be in line.
Even the home is debatable. When did a one year old child need 3, or 4 bedroom house? Get a duplex. Rent one side out, use the income to pay the mortgage. Save your money and become wealthy. Buying single family because your "married now" is the lifestyle creep. Single family house are overrated! Keeping up with Jones is the road to poverty.
@@houseofhas9355 This is the kind of thing that should be taught in high school. And financially literacy in general. Most people don't know these kinds of hacks unless their parents taught them or they randomly stumble across it.
@@houseofhas9355 that duplex sounds crazy but investing that wedding money into your future is great. Having neighbors connected to my home while I raise my kids nope. Single family home and down size
My husband proposed with a $50 ring. We were young, broke, and trying to stay out of debt. Since he couldn’t afford anything fancy, he tried to make it special in other ways - he ordered the band and the sapphire separately, and set the stone himself. He made the ringbox out of climbing holds from the climbing gym where we met. It showed me I was choosing a man who was resourceful, thoughtful, romantic, and would make wise financial decisions for our future together, so that one day we could afford whatever we want! Now we’ve been married almost 5 years and I’m still wearing that $50 ring. And sure enough, we’re now in a financial position that we could drop 100x as much on an upgrade tomorrow if we wanted. But we’ll prob buy a house for our 5yr anniversary instead. Lol
Mine proposed with a 150$ beautiful silver opal ring ❤️ we spent 7,000$ on our wedding and honeymoon (5500 for the wedding and 1500 for the honeymoon) and for holidays, birthdays, and our anniversary, we do kind acts for each other instead of gifts. Some couples may like doing gifts, we just happen to prefer staying home and doing things for the other person (like I'll cook an extra special dinner, or take the baby out so he gets the day to himself and he'll do something like clean the house by himself or give me a massage and my fav snacks).
When my dad wanted to propose to my mom he went to buy a ring and realized he could only afford a band without a stone. He went outside of the store and picked little stones out of the gutter and went back and asked the jewler if he could mount any of them in a band he could afford. The amazing jewler helped him literally mount a gutter rock into an engagement ring. My mom wore that ring the rest of her life. It really put a red flag on any girl that is materialistic for me.
You know marriage and weddings were once a christian and religious family thing, nowadays you spend your life savings for her to post the perfect pics on Instagram and show off to those exact girlfriends that tell her "you deserve better" when talking about you. TO HELL WITH THAT, NO CHANCE FOR ME!!!
That's such a petty thing with women, they've got to live up to the expectations of their " friends " - the herd mentality is so prevalent especially with insecure women who can't stand up for the choices that they've made for themselves and always need the approval of their peers. And then there's us men, don't give a single f**k as long as the woman and we are good for each other, the world can go take a hike.
My son proposed without a ring, and she was ecstatic to say yes. A few weeks later, I gifted them an old blue stone from one of my rings and he bought a custom setting for that stone. You would have thought I had given them the HOPE DIAMOND with how ecstatic she was to receive the thoughtful, symbolic gift. My daughter in law who doesn’t cry, sobbed like a child with happiness. That’s what you want, gratitude and excitement for a marriage, not a wedding.
My parents got married having only an old scooter in their possession. They never got an engagement ring and their wedding rings are as simple as they come. Married for 40 years! Their house is paid for, they both got cars paid for which were eventually replaced and paid for, put me through college and university and paid it for me and I never wanted for anything growing up. Couldn't be any prouder! I hope if I am ever to get married that I can live up to their achievements. Rings don't mean shit. P.S.: Despite what I just said, it was so nice of you to offer them your stone, that girl must have been thrilled and super touched by both your and your son's gestures 🤗
As a Brazilian, I was shocked with the diamond ring culture in North America where love and commitment are measured by the size of a diamond. I saw some friends comparing their diamond rings in a meeting before I got married and decided I didn't want that superfluous situation in my life. The amount of commitment necessary for a successful marriage is far from the size of a mere stone. In South America, for engagement and wedding we use a plain gold ring. That's it. When my Canadian husband proposed, I told him I wanted to keep "brazilian tradition" and today I wear my gold band, proudly in Canada, while receiving some curious looks from friends.
@@prouddegenerates9056 People do not know this but there was a study on the relation with divorce and weddings. According to the Social Science Research Network, The more expensive the wedding is, the higher the divorce, the more cheaper the wedding, the long the marriage is. This is due to people in the lower cost(from what I analyzed) do not care about expensive ideals, hence why they last longer. They just care for another rather than seeing who has the best of the best.
Shows how much corporate advertising has deeply infiltrated the culture there, where so much is materialistic. Thats just the engagement ring, not counting the wedding ring and wedding itself, on top of everything else.
Same.. if I ever marry, I want a gold band and that's it! I even really like those colorful silicone rings that people in the healthfield wear when at work. Those silicone rings are comfy, easy to clean, and fun for their pop of color. They even have really cute designs like a silicone vine band, it is super cute! Love simple gold band. I also don't mind if all of us hopped off needing a ring altogether, one less enviornmentaly unfriendly thing to produce.
Don't over do with the engagement. Don't over do with the wedding. Put all your energy and resources in the marriage. The goal is not the wedding but a successful marriage
YES! As an "INFJ," I want the simple things: to be a wife and mom, not the attention from strangers nor massive debt. My man could propose with a ring pop and I'd say yes! 😂 I want to elope/go to the courthouse. Then have a home cooked meal with our families. Then work together to prioritize our money toward our shared goals like children, a house, investments.
I got engaged & married in literally 9 days after having been together for well over 20 years, we spent less than $500 for two rings we chose together, a nice cake and two bottles of great champagne. I didn't need all the extra so many people seem to want - I got married in my back garden, we each had our best friend standing up for us, and we sent announcements after the fact (and no, not for gifts, we have a home and want for nothing.) Seven years later, our home is paid off, we owe no credit bills, no car notes, we are retired before 60 and yeah, life is good.
Holy hell now that's what I call a good fking judgement. Like seriously it makes me so happy to know there are sensible people that put priorities first and foremost. When I feel like I wanna get married I am gonna remember this.
My wife is pretty frugal, when we were dating and the idea of getting married came up she made it super clear that she thought the "6 week rule" was a load of crap and that she didn't want me spending huge amounts of money on a ring when we could instead be saving up for a house. Ended up going with a ring that was an heirloom and she loves it. We celebrate 15 years of marriage in March.
Where I'm from,505, they have always said six MONTHS of your pay! We gotta lot of that old school catholic energy hur tho, I think that where it come from....
A grown man said to me out of nowhere that because Valentine's day was coming up it was time for my husband to buy me a new ring. I looked down at my ring and told him that we've only been married a year and there was nothing wrong with my ring. He later told me that he had been divorced twice and both of his ex-wives demanded a ring in the thousands he complied and they still didn't work out. I explained to him that my value is not defined, established or validated by the price of a ring. The way my husband treats me validates the value that I already have. The guy asked why I think the way I do so I told him. My father established the value I have within myself and I am the woman he raised me to be today. Money comes and goes but human connection is priceless.
Should I have a daughter I hope to be able to instill in her a sense of self worth and clarity in understanding good healthy relationships with her husband when she gets older as your dad did for you. Wow beautiful story wish nothing but the best for you and your husband.
My wife's was 100. She loves it. Mine was 20. I was saving to get a car for her. 2 years later I bought her a car with cash. I gonna buy her a house in 3 years. We've been married for almost 3 years. The whole reason I propose after 5 years is we decided we wanted a kid. So I proposed, with in that month she got pregnant lol then the pandemic hit. So our wedding kept getting pushed out. I ended up saving that money, and having a back yard wedding. Was able to move her outta the city into a upscale place in a nice wealthy lake town 😎. Safe and fun. I'm cheap with some things but go big on life fulfillment. Love life, not things. BTW my wife is having coffee on the patio with my kid watching deer and the sun rise right now. Worth it.
Last relationship I was in, I was sick with covid and she took care of me from the moment I tested positive. I told her I didn’t wanna get her sick but she looked me dead in my face and was like “well I’ve been around you this entire time and if you caught it, chances are I’m probably sick too so I’m not gonna leave you”. She didn’t catch it, but she was willing to stay with me until I got better. I haven’t had someone love me like that outside my own mother. That was the sweetest thing anyone has even done for me. Money and monetary things are gonna come and go, but people treating you like you are loved is priceless.
Damn...that's exactly the same convo me and my hubby had when he got covid. We were engaged but hadn't even started planning the wedding. He got covid so bad his heart stopped twice. He was in a coma for 33 days and was in the hospital for 62. I tested positive after caring for him for 2 days but never had a single symptom. So glad you both made it through.

13 years ago when my husband and I were shopping for wedding rings, I walked out of Jared’s because they refused to tell me the prices of the rings I was looking at. I was supposed to just fall in love with a ring and then they’d take my man into a private room to chat finances. 🙅🏼♀️ We spent around $5,000 for the entire wedding. I cannot even fathom double that for a ring!
I saw a video once that explained how wedding rings and diamonds were this grift to make the company rich by making the whole process seem normal. Look up Weird History - Why People Actually Wear Engagement Rings. It details the whole process and history of this weird tradition.
Rings are meaningless, especially in this day and age. They used to repel people from checking you out. Now they attract people. It's just a symbol of wealth at this point.
I remember going engagement ring shopping with my husband and when the people at the first store heard we wanted to spend no more than $1500 they basically ignored us like we were wasting their time. Went to the next place where they were really friendly and helpful. The guy was telling hubby he'd better hold onto me because I asked for something with a smaller diamond that wouldn't overwhelm my small hands. We could have afforded more than that but all I cared about was finding something I liked the look of. Price was irrelevant.
Yep, the party is one night. The ring is just a thing. Love conquers all. Forever is a hell of a drug. I found my forever, and I'm so happy to be addicted to her.
We live in the Caribbean and my husband wanted to get me a ring for 3000usd. I was so shocked at that idea and I told him HELL NO. That amount of money goes a long way here. We ended up taking a trip of a lifetime to Europe (Germany, Amsterdam, Paris). It's also dangerous to wear jewelry at that price tag bc if I get robbed it goes down the drain.
My engagement ring had been his grandmother's, and his mother's, then it became mine. It was a lovely, but very simple, ring - and to ME it was priceless. It was a ring that belonged to women who were loved by their husbands until the day they died. That sentiment came to me from my husband by giving me that ring. On the topic of the small things being everything, there is one thing that always makes me smile when I think about it. I had been very, very ill. I had to have emergency surgery and spend a few days in the hospital. We had children, but my husband did manage to get up to see me for a couple of hours each day I was in the hospital. Mind you, my husband has a crippling phobia of hospitals but he fought that to be at my side. On top of that, when I got home for some reason the ONLY thing I wanted to eat was quiche, and specifically the quiche his mother made. He called her, got the recipe, had a friend go to the store to buy the things for it, and he made that for me that day. The worst part of this, and the part he laughs about when he tells this story, is that I only had two bites before the medication took effect and I fell asleep. I will never forget that he made it for me, though. He was -there- for me when I needed him, and he went to all that trouble to give me what I wanted. That, more than simply 'saying' the words I love you - SHOWED me, he loved me.
My first ring was $50. Every few years he would upgrade my ring, nothing crazy but something a little nicer. After we bought our first home, I had my dream ring made! I love all my rings, but to be involved in designing a unique ring and picking the perfect stones was such a fun experience. We have been together almost 17 years this august. ❤
my wife's ring was a $100 amazon ring, no wedding band. She loves it and gets compliments all the time. It's actually a very pretty and super sparkly imitation diamond with a bunch of fancy details. We're using the $10k I saved towards a house like reasonable people
That's exactly what my husband and I did. We bought a $200 dollar ring on Amazon, then bought our wedding band set form Moderngents. Our wedding ring and engagement ring are made by imitation diamond and it sparkles better than regular diamond. Our bond is stronger than our finances, hands down. (We are also newly weds!)
I think most people would do the same if they just took 3 seconds to think if their partner would prefer a ring or a deposit for a house mortgage/car etc
@@judechauhan6715 it's incredible to me how strong the idea of marriage and being the unique and rich princess are still so tightly bound. Like you said, you want a ring to show off, or something legitimately useful in life?
@@judechauhan6715something u have to break it down like that. Like ok baby we have get the ring for 10k but that same 10k can get ahead a few months on the bills PLUS a lil decent weekend 3 4 day vacation. Gonna have a ball too
@@Mrmghz1 The fact your wife still get's compliments is all the evidence anyone needs to not go for a crazy flashy ring. That is it's purpose if it's flashy and it succeeded, so the other purpose to signify and remind you of your commitment and love for each other doesn't depend on the size or attention it gets. Perfect demonstration of what you two care about being most important and everyone else being secondary.
I lived a small apartment and didn't have a car, i used a bus. I propose with a 250 dollar ring. She said yes. 8 years later, with one daughter. We own 3 cars and 4 bedroom home. Vacation in every year in different countries. We still have our rings.... we are happy it represents a lot, our love and struggles.
My girl literally wants me to spend $100 on a ring. I told her “I can at least do better than that, the money isn’t an issue. I feel I spend at least a $1,000.” She replied with “a big rock will drive me crazy on my hand, I don’t like wearing rings much anyway. Wedding rings are a racket and borderline scam. Let’s put that money toward a house or paying off debts.” She’s a keeper.
I don’t like rings on my hands either so my husband and I got tattoos. Simple black band. Can’t even tell it’s a tattoo until you get close. Just an idea :)
Get a better ring, not because of the rock but because of the metal, you want something that will last, not a diamond that'll poop out in a few years. Real 30 year lasting quality at 100$ is not really possible
I bought my wife a $65 dollar engagement ring, and for her wedding ring I bought a 1940's silver dollar, watched a few videos on how to make a ring, and made her wedding ring. 15 years later, she's still wearing it.
@@Tionaintown876: Wrong. It happens fairly often, but it's trendy to bash men for not spending big, rather than praising them for their ingenuity and thoughtfulness. The complainers are the loudest & get the views; it's normally not the wonderful kinds of stories featured in these comments.
The cost of the ring doesn't matter, the way Preach talks about his wife in a lot of their videos says everything about their relationship and how happy they are
This. A lot of people don't understand the criteria they should be looking for in a long term mate. What's good for a one night stand is not the same for life long partner. Preach's wife sounds like a keeper.
I got my wife an engagement ring for $1,300. It was a gold band with a black diamond (Her favorite colors are gold, black, and purple). People talk about how nice her ring is and how they've never seen one like it. Sometimes folks get expensive rings that look like all the rest. We had a private, courthouse wedding and I bought us a nice house that my wife turned into a beautiful home. We live lovingly, comfortably, and happy.
I was 19 and my husband was 21 when we got married, we got rings both together at Walmart for about 100$. I had that ring and wore it every day for the first 7 years of our marriage. Then, once he started making more money, he started saving and got me a 10k one. I still wear my cheap ring and the other one I rarely wear. I'm afraid I will lose a diamond, or I will get robbed. I never asked for or wanted a ring like that. I love him for thinking I'm worth it and so grateful he worked so hard to get it. There are so many more things he could've used that money on. I don't need an expensive piece of jewelry to know how he feels about me.
Then why do you have the 10k ring? If your not going wear it... it says something. He wasted his money. He see you don't wear it. So loss either way you see it,
@Fabulous absolutely I get that and that is why I wear it when I'm with him in public and at home. We've been married 22 years, and he knows me he knows I'm not comfortable accepting something so valuable. l have the ring because he bought it for me. What exactly do you think it says? Since you don't know my husband, myself, or our situation, how on Earth can you say what it says?
I proposed to my wife with a plastic ring from a stationery store. Then a couple of months later got her the engagement ring for $400 back in 2015. We were both travelling at the time. It would have been crazy to drop $10k on that. We saved like MFs for our first home and travelling instead. Memories and foundations are more important than jewellery.
10k on a ring is nuts. My whole wedding including engagement ring, honeymoon, the whole shebang was less than 10k and 4 years later my friends and family still talk about how great it was. My wedding ring was £70, my wife's about £90. She'd have been so mad if I proposed with a 10k ring lol
@@nicolepatriciasiegrist we had a religious ceremony at a local monastery of all things. They had a lovely hall for the reception and the wedding team and food was amazing. They did it all at cost, no profit, as their whole ethos was that people shouldn't start out married in debt. It was a rustic theme to go with the building type. We did all the decorations ourselves, all party favours etc. Pinterest was our friend lol
The problem with a wedding ring that cheap is though your not gonna have one in a few years. I think 1k is fine for one. It only has to be real enough to last forever. Unfortunately a 90 ring might start turning green soon, or is gonna deteriorate eventually.
I know a friend who had a 7k engagement ring thrown back at him cause it wasn't 2 months his income as she knew what he made. Needless to say,not only did he not marry her, he saved himself from a woman ended up with 3 baby daddies and 2 divorces (her reality).

A ring don't mean shit, it's being there for them when they're down. Being together during the hard times, being supportive & loyal. Respect & honesty.
It might be a love language difference, like your love language is acts of service so that’s what you give your partner. You and your partner should take the love language quiz online to see if quality time, words of affirmation, physical touch or gifts are the love language to show your partner.
That is really painful. If you are with someone who makes you feel that way, I hope you will be able to talk to them and resolve things. Some people are a bit oblivious, and that’s workable. But if they don’t make you feel appreciated, something is wrong either in perception or the relationship
You guys have found a way to combine impactful life lessons, with comedy. Your high level of art is something that I, as a young man, would like to one day have created for myself.
After one week of me and my girl seeing each other, she started bringing me lunch everyday. I was flabbergasted. On days she couldn't, she'd apologize for it and I'd be like, this isn't even your job tho... why you apologizing?!? This is one year ago. I bought a ring that was $200 but on sale for half off. I didnt get it because of the price, but the type of ring it was I knew she'd love it (and she does). We're getting married at the end of the year.
love that more people are talking about this. got married last June and my husband and I wear gold bands and that’s it. I had people telling me I “made it too easy” for him 💀 my dad is still paying off my moms ring after 30 years together. I’d rather not. We don’t celebrate holidays and I don’t require that he “break the bank” to show his love for me. Every day with him is like flowers and candy and we’re building together. fantasizing about a ring and a big wedding and all the works is cool but there’s WAY more to a relationship than material things.
Damn 30 years and the old man is still paying off that ring? It could of been worse I guess, he could of found out you all were not his, she divorces him, takes half, he pays alimony, 18 years of child support for children not his, and takes over 30 decades to pay off that ring on top of it.
My wife was horrified at the thought of a crazy expensive wedding ring, so this is what I did. I knew she would be wearing for the rest of her life, so I made her pick the one she wanted. It may not have been romantic, but I set a filter for 1k so she'd be okay with it. Then i had the lady pick without seeing the prices. She picked the one that normally cost $250 because she liked it, but it was on sale for $80. She was so excited that when we got to the store she asked for it and told the clerk it was going to be her wedding ring. I remember the clerk and the other people behind the counter giving me such a dirty look that her wedding ring was so cheap. She noticed and told them that she chose that one. I still get a kick out of the story. Wedding rings aren't about $$$ they should be about a representation of the love for the person.
I pretty much did the same thing. I let her "build" her ring and she knew I was willing to spend around $1500 - $2000. She was so happy and didn't ask me to spend more money. It was like she was a kid at a candy store.
God judging A RING is so... STUPID!🤣 Screw those people and their dirty looks. Good on you man.👍 If they're gonna judge you for that they can buy the damn ring for you.🤣 Should have seen if they would have. It's a good way to shut people up lol.
My engagement ring cost $300. Been married to my husband for 13 years. He's successful and makes amazing money now. Because I was loyal and never expected anything crazy....he has given me anything and everything I want. He built me the home of my dreams! I loved the man when he had nothing....and still love him when he has given me everything!
I got so lucky. My girl doesn't even like diamonds so I got her one with our birthstone (we were born a day apart) and rose gold because she loves roses. A little over $100, but the look on her face screamed priceless. She isn't spending thousands on a dress either, but instead is making it herself. I know the general idea, pink with roses around it, but I won't get to see it til the wedding day. She's going to look so beautiful in it
So wholesome. My husband made payments every month driving to the mall while it was on layaway. While it was on layaway it went on clearance so he paid less for it. Probably around $1800. He stayed within his means and was thrifty with it. Made me admire him even more 🥰 (and he has great taste)
$1800 is too much just for a rock, more worth $150, finding a pretty rock isn't expensive, it's literally just how much money people are willing to dump into a scam tradition that the diamond company made, that is now ingrained into society. You should care how someone is treating you as a person and how much you truly love them, not how much money they spend on you. Rings are meant to be a symbol, and a symbol that looks good is not even remotely close to that expensive, the reason that is expensive is because it is diamond and the diamond business explicitly and intentionally jacks the price up because they know they can exploit people under societal pressure, same goes for college, same goes for healthcare. It is a scam, and you are participating in it.
@@ChristopherGray00To me it’s not “just a rock.” We’re pretty old school and go by tradition, and I like that about us. Based on my personal experience, $1800 is not a crazy amount to spend on a ring. To each their own. My husband can love and care for me, and still buy me a beautiful ring 😉
I didn’t even give my girlfriend (now wife) an engagement ring. We did our traditional (Nigerian) marriage with friends and family… went to the registry and that was it. When I could afford it, I bought her a 24 karat gold ring almost 7 years into our marriage. Engagement rings are so freaking stupid.
It's the big buisness of weddings and other big celebrations- they don't care why you're there they just want your money. A regular cake will be a fair price but jack up the cost of a wedding cake, invitations, decorations, dresses... smh
@@torachan23 He wanted to buy his wife something nice that she can possibly wear for the rest of her life. Engagement rings are stupid because they eventually get replaced by the wedding ring.
Another Nigerian here. The engagement ring I got my wife was really cheap but damn did we both cry when she said yes. The price of the ring didn't matter and doesn't now after 5 years of marriage
My ring was free. My husband's grandmother gave him her ring that also included 2 diamonds from her mom and grandma. I was honored she thought enough of me to give it to my husband to propose to me. The size and cost of the ring shouldn't matter. Neither should the wedding. It's the marriage and relationship that count most.
I like that these videos aren't just a discussion between ANP and the audience but also a discussion between Aba and Preach at the same time. When one is quiet while the other is talking, it's not because they have nothing to say or contribute but because they're really listening to what the other is saying, considering how it's lining up with how they themselves are thinking. They're learning from each other just as much as we might be learning from them. It's that kind of genuine thing y'all have where you're not constantly trying to talk just for the sake of talking to fill out the video, that's one of the many reasons why I'll always watch you guys.
My friend and I got married a few months apart. He spent around 10 k on the ring. I spent substantially less. Long story short, I'm still married, he went through an incredibly bitter divorce. Inexpensive ring does nothing to make the marriage better, and in fact just puts more stress because now you got to figure out a pay that thing off.
My wife's wedding ring was $500, she has worn it everyday for 25 years and refuses to let me replace it with a more expensive one. The ring has nothing to do with the amount you love a person. Stop starting your lives in debt, cheap ring and get married at the courthouse, that other shit is meaningless 5 minutes after it is over.
I really think you’re changing peoples minds by talking this way. I genuinely do. Priorities are in the wrong spot in a lot of cases. I’ll never forget what my mum told me about when she and my dad got engaged. Things were tight for them, he left his job in pursuit of a new opportunity but it was the eighties and jobs were scarce things were hard. They were going to the laundromat every week, and it was a bummer for my mum. He proposed, but without a ring. He got a job, things got a little better and he said ‘okay Tammy, let’s go pick something out.’ She said ‘can we just get a washer and dryer?’ They got the most basic set from the Sears appliance store. And then when they tied the knot in my aunty’s living room, it was with matching plain gold bands. No diamonds, just laundry. They got why they needed. The washer and dried lasted from like 1982 till the late 2000’s haha. Anyways, keep it up.
My husband and I bought plain gold bands, spent about 50.00 for both. That was 30 years ago. Rings are a symbol of marriage, not the foundation of marriage. Judging the value of a partner by the value of a ring says a lot about priorities, and the only good thing to come of that is the huge red flag that hopefully saves a potential partner from making a huge mistake.
Because you’re a real one. More men are real ones than women, women who are real ones are more rare because women give eachother the worst advice. Women look for ‘indicators’ of meaning, because society seems to prevent them from being real ones and judging real meaning. By indicators i mean ‘he earns this much’ or ‘he spent this much on your ring’. The worst men focus on the indicators they put out, because their ACTUAL characteristics are not sufficient. So what happens is women pick the wrong guys because they put out the ‘right indicators’ and they inevitably end up in yoyo relationships with narcissists who don’t put in enough but then put in large gestures (indicators) every now and again because their woman is unhappy, which buys them more time to be a douche again, until the next time they have to ‘indicate’ 😅 But then theres Dawn. Be more like Dawn 👌🏻😉
Yep me and my husband had simple gold bands for the first 2 years. He then got me a diamond studded gold band. A few years later he insisted on getting me a center stone. I think society has it backwards. The fancy ring should be a representation of a successful marriage, not before anyone has even said “I do”. 🤷🏽♀️
I bought engagement ring for 100$, my wife told me if im going to propose her that she will kill me if i spend absurd amount of money for a “stupid ring”. Our wedding rings where gift from my uncle who is amateur archeologist. 2300 years old Celtic wedding rings made of bronze that he excavated and museum didnt need them since they had plenty of those. They have that rough beauty and we really love them, i just hope they are not cursed xD
Still a lot. 600 bucks for an object that has 90% chances to be from child labour, war or slavery. Yes, it is that high, there is 90% chances your ring is a blood ring if it has gold, silver or diamonds in it
Wise words from both of you as usual. Really sick and tired of this obsession with materialism and shaming people who spend their money rationally and wisely.
I had a car crash and my lawyer says my payment will be low 5 figures. There’s so much I can do with that money. My partner was like “ENGAGEMENT RING!!”. I’m like “nah, that’s my monthly mortgage payment getting reduced by a decent amount”
Monthly mortgage? Nononononononononononononononono. Investment opportunity. Find an owner financed property for a small house anywhere in the country. Agree on a payment method and don’t give them a dime until you are closing. Before closing, find somebody who will purchase it from you. Make the payment schedule take half the time you agreed to. If you can’t find this person, you lost nothing so look for the next opportunity. If you found somebody, you managed to get maybe another $50-100k. Don’t use big money to make current expenses feel cheaper than they really are. Use big money to make money so it truly is cheaper by comparison.
This infuriates me on some many levels. When my husband proposed to me, he gave me his grandmother's ring. That meant so much more to me than the cost. Also, I picked and bought my own wedding, and that's because I just happened to be at the mall and saw it on display. I bought it because he wasn't around. I loved how it looked, and it was on sale. Also, my brother years ago was dating a girl, and she wanted him to buy a 30k plus Tiffany's engagement ring. This girl and her sister showed me and my brother and I was like it's beautiful, but it's not about how much you spend on the ring. When I said that, both of them looked at each other and then me and were like YES IT IS! It's all about the ring. I was like, you can put a down payment on a house with that or buy you a car. Mind you, I was 16 or 17, and my brother was in his mid 20's. He definitely could afford the price, but I told him that ring is going to cost you way more in different ways if you marry her.
My husband of 12 years gave me his grandmother's ring and I gave him my grandfather's ring. Means more to both of us than cost, it's legacy. Also got married on family land for less than 2000 dollars. We wanted to be married and didn't care about a big wedding.
My dad bought my mother a 12k ring I believe. And when I asked why she never wore it she just said they immidiently sold it when it got tough. If there's ever a chance their children would have an empty fridge at the end of the month, everything else came after. People often don't realize good times come and go. Just because you can afford it now doesn't mean dire times won't come
I spent 350 dollars on the engagement ring and wedding band combined. Both were agreed upon by my spouse. We both agreed that saving money makes way more sense than dropping thousands over a ring
I chose a 800 dollar ring and didn't care for a wedding ring after that because we got married through the courts. We originally planned to get married in 2020 but of course the pandemic ruined everything and we couldn't even go into the courthouse because we had children with us and it just needed to be us. So we finally got to go in in 2022 and our kids were with us. It was worth it to me
I don't know how weddings work where you're at, but in Turkish weddings, you generally make money or at least break even. Do the guests not give money?
@@bigshorty4855 not like in you guys culture it usually ends up being a party for everyone else more than the bride and groom. Free drinks and food is why most show up

@@Peace2dagawdz LMAO! Right? Ffs. Want to act like he has deep thoughts just wants to cover up that he hasn't got the money. Just say that. No shame in it.
@@Peace2dagawdzpeople can afford it and still shouldn’t do it. Nobody deserves that on their finger, especially people that expect it. Women that demand this shit don’t care about anything but themselves and how they look.
My boyfriend proposed with a plastic ring, said that he wanted to take me out to get one he knew I'd like. He's known me 10 years prior to dating, but I told him I respected what he was trying to do. Repeatedly brought it up over the 2 years prior to this year we'd been engaged, was always 'I don't have the money right now'. Had the money to go out and finance a 48k dollar 2020 Scatpack Challenger. I bit my tongue. A year later, I'm planning on dumping him next week (still yet to get an engagement ring, despite carrying the relationship 90% of the time, and supporting him when he had no job). Three years without a ring, you ain't got money for an at-best, MAYBE 500 dollar ring (I'm not picky nor do I like gaudy jewelry), but you have money for an 80k car loan. Yeah, okay. Whoever gets him after me can have him rofl. It's not about how much you pay, it's about considering the woman you're with, and whether or not it's something she'd like. If she's only after the ring, then the relationship doesn't matter to her - I still loved mine just fine without having a ring at all for 3 years, and no consideration of marriage when we were friends prior to that. She's a gold digger and that's a massive red flag!
My engagement ring was $400 and the wedding ring $1,200. My wife cried because she thought it was too much. If you can't afford it she should be happy with a string on her finger, Edmond Dantes Style. And that she still had it like 18 years later was the most romantic thing I had seen.
Realistically, very few of us truly deserve the things we receive from the people in our lives whether it is their money, their energy, or their time. To think that you are so entitled that you expect someone to spend thousands of dollars on you really shows a lack of character and respect for that person. These people don't deserve love from others because obviously, their own love is conditional.
"These people don't deserve love from others because obviously, their own love is conditional." Love in inherently conditional and the notion of "unconditional love" is extremely toxic and unrealistic. That said, these kinds of people's idea of love is measured by material goods, none of which ever seem to provide any pragmatic benefit to their lives or partnerships. These are the sorts of people who believe that money = love, or that it's an acceptable substitute.
@@AngryReptileKeeper I meant that those individuals shouldn't base their affection on whether or not someone buys them something. More than likely their partner is doing things for them already but they choose to focus on what they didn't receive. Not saying that they have to love unconditionally but they shouldn't base their happiness on something so selfish.
@@AngryReptileKeeper I disagree that's its "toxic" but I totally agree with it being "unrealistic" I think generally it's a good thing and something that should be celebrated, but you also shouldnt be shamed for not participating Its kinda like if some decided to change the lives of random homeless people, while expecting nothing back... it's a good thing that should be praised and encouraged but if you don't partucipate in that, you shouldn't be shamed for it, because it's unrealistic to expect everyone to be able to do something like that.
I agree with Aba talking about marriage and material possessions. We have normalized material possessions way too much. I learned early about that. I was a poor kid, so I didn't have fashion clothes and shoes like some of my other classmates did. I remember in 7th grade, I had a pair of shoes that looked like brand name shoes, but they were an off-brand. I was so happy to have them and go to school, so maybe they would finally "accept" me and stop picking on me. But as soon as they discovered they weren't what they appeared to be, I got made fun of even harder. At that point, something just snapped, and I stopped caring about name brand stuff and trying to impress others and make friends with people who didn't really like me. I really did stop. I just wore what looked good, and if people wanted to make fun of me, they did. After a while, they stopped because they realized that I wasn't responding or even being upset. I just started roasting myself along with them. They didn't know what to think. Also, I came to the realization that a LOT of them were barely able to get those things themselves. They were stealing or borrowing from other people, or nowadays, some of the same people are doing the same things...trying to impress others, but they are HEAVILY in debt. Meanwhile, aside from my mortgage, I am debt-free, and I have all the necessities, and my family is provided for, and I taught my kids the same things about material possessions and brand-names. They are very happy with what they get, and they don't have to worry about food or clothing like I did as a child.
I related very heavily to your story about the off-brand shoes, went through exactly the same thing in primary school. I was an only child to a single mum who worked 2 jobs. I got really lucky at age 11, the owner of the bakery I went to for lunch on special occasions (mum's pay day) offered me a job, he basically said "you can come in and work for an hour each afternoon after school, I basically just want you to follow my bakers around and assist them in any way they need, I'll give you $10/h cash in hand" (its illegal for people under 14 to work in my country). I ran home to ask mum for permission and after she met with the owner to make sure it was fine, I started my first part time job WAY earlier than all my friends, and was able to start helping mum out when she needed it. Used my first pay ($50, felt like a million bucks at age 11) to buy the off-brand shoes that looked similar to air maxes so I could fit in at school and learned the same valuable lesson you're describing here. That job also set me up for life, learning how to work hard and be professional so early in life has given me the innate ability to land pretty much any job I've ever gone for, and hold down jobs/get moved up into higher positions consistently due to having a strong work ethic, and at the same time, learning that material possessions will never make other people like me or make me happy has allowed me to be more financially responsible than I ever would have been without it.
When my husband and I decided we would get married, I warned him He better not spend more than $500 on a ring for me. I told him I would say no if he brought me an expensive ring. Ideally, I kept showing him cheap rings that I would happily take. I kept telling him, I don't need us to go broke for you to show me you love me. Show me in every other other way. Our wedding ring story is one he loves to brag about cause he managed to get a $2000 ring that was custom made for $348. To me love and romance isn't money. Yea you have to invest in your loved one. But remember that sometimes the money is low and the person you're with will have to be able to roll with the hard times. And people who put a price tag on proof of love can't roll. And they will make your life even harder during the rough times. People tried to tell me I should have denied the ring cause it was small, by the way. Not knowing the quality of rocks in the ring or the backstory on how my husband managed to get it. Cause people have unrealistic and shallow standards 🙄
Here's what it is, 10k ring is insurance for her. Marriage don't work after a year or three, she has 10k to pawn off to help herself out among other things she'll take form him.
Never had a wedding ring and have been married for near 20 years but we have 0 debt. Her actions speak louder then words bringing me a snack or whatever. Love is day to day actions not words and not junk.
You got married without a ring? I mean my wife’s ring was $200 and I needed to go in zero debt to purchase it. I personally would rather give a girl a $20 ring than no ring
@@michaelmiguel6937 if you need ring to pretend your relationship is solid. Then you kind the same as someone who buys 10k you putting meaning behind a object instead person and their actions
The engagement ring I purchased for my g/f was $550. We have been married for 25 years+ this past year...it's not about the jewelry, it's about the meaning. If she's more worried about the ring cost rather than the sentiment, then she's not the one for you...she just wants to impress other people. We didn't and don't care about fancy jewelry. As long as we have each other, that's all that matters to us.
In all honesty, I just want ring that’s gonna LAST. I remember this dude called his girlfriend ungrateful because she didn’t want to wear her ring. But it was literally some $90 ring that he bought off Etsy. She didn’t wear it because she was scared to mess it up because of how cheaply made it was. Her only request was that it be something that last for a long time
I told my husband that we could have a wedding and rings or a home and a car... lol We went to the courthouse, spent probably $36, and have been married for over 13 years. If you start a marriage with unnecessary debt, there may be resentment, which can lead to divorce 💁🏿♀️
I paid 1300 for a the engagement wing. My wife bought the wedding rings for us both and together were about 1k. Then we decided to elope. Saved a shit ton of money anddd we're just as married as those who spend tens of thousands
My husband wanted to spend more on my ring and I told him no. I didn't even want a big ring, I like dainty rings. He still felt bad and believed I deserved a bigger ring. I appreciated the sentiment, and said maybe years down the line we can upgrade, like my parents did. I love my ring! I love my husband! He did a great job!
My brother in law and my sister set a beautiful new standard for my family who usually spends so much money for weddings, His engagement ring was no where near the 10k mark and they held a small intimate wedding in a masjid. No music and it wasn’t lavish. It was very beautiful and humble. Funnily enough it was her idea to have a wedding like that and not spend money
A ring doesn't stop infidelity, doesn't bring infinite happiness, a ring is literally just a sign for other people that "hey we're married" If I ever get married I hope my spouse doesn't want a ring. Actions speak louder than any metal ever could
The person you choose will probably have similar values to you and not care about a ring. You may find that, paradoxically, makes you want to get them one! Or some symbol of your relationship, anyway. Certainly does not mean it has to be expensive!
The same people thinking $10k for a ring is the minimum, are the same people that will spend $50k on a wedding, $25k on the honeymoon, pay $4k a month in rent, have a loan on a $85k car, all while making $55k a year. Being able to afford something doesn't mean you have enough debt room to cover it lol
My husband proposed with his mother's engagement ring, she had passed away before I met him. I felt that ring should have gone to his little sister as it was her mums. I chose my own it was £500 😂 it's not about the ring or the wedding its about the marriage. We're celebrating our 10year anniversary this year.
My husband and I have been together for over 17 years. We got married 5 years ago for immigration reasons. Our economic situation in Venezuela was so dire that we could not afford wedding rings, because we were saving every penny to leave the country. The ceremony was at my mom's small apartment with only our closest family members and friends. We now live in Spain and even though we now can afford to buy them, we've come to the conclusion that it's just a waste of money. We don't need a piece of metal or any material object to symbolize our commitment to each other.
My wife told me she would be legitimately mad if I got her a 10k ring. If nothing else, it’s really scary walking around with that kind of money on your finger. I got her a cheaper ring, but now we have money towards the house of our dreams. So glad she’s not the type who cares about that expensive material stuff.
I got my wife a $2000 ring. It was similar to a design she showed me because she liked something unique. It’s crazy to spend $10,000 on a ring unless you have the means to do so. The meaning of a ring is much more important than the price tag.
I love marriage, mine anyways. I was so excited to propose to my wife I learned how to make my own wedding rings. Our families gave me gold jewelry they never used anymore and I spent her time at work over our kitchen stove with a torch melting gold and casting into ring molds I carved myself. Didn't cost much, means everything. It'll be 12 years this year, Fing loving it. I remake them every year for our anniversary. Last year my sister's fiance came to me and asked if I could help him make theirs. He's earned my approval. Love is in the intent.
@@moufou4life I did online research, a little trial and error. It seemed simple, was not, while trying to figure it out by myself, but totally worth it. Toughest part was explaining why I'm buying a torch when we live in an apartment.
He had me at CPAP machine. 🥺 The fact that he is a grown man that actually wears his CPAP machine... Bless you. This RN over here is impressed. I will be married for 20yrs in July we didn't get married with a ring and when I did get one a few yrs later it was $300. We got married just not a wedding. No regrets. I'll have a wedding at 50yrs to actually celebrate something.
This is what me and the wife are planning. Wedding at 10 or 20 year anniversary. We had a get together in our yard, and she picked out this Gothic black ring that was 250 as her wedding ring. 8 years so far, and already paying down a house at 28 in Cali. Has been a rough road, but we're making it brick by brick.
Listen, I clown my boys who have their cpap and not use it. Best sleep of your fucking life. And your wife will thank you for being able to sleep as well.
There was a lady talking to her friend in a checkout line, and she said, “My anniversary is coming up. This is his chance to get the ring right, the one he proposed with was only $1,000, can you believe that? He better get it right this time.” And they both laughed. I’ve never felt so disgusted. Makes me wonder why he proposed to her in the first place. Gross.
I got married when I was really young, and even then I was firm that I didn't want anything expensive. We got handmade rings with amethyst, mine was about $150. We're not together anymore, but the ring is still beautiful and I'm so happy we went with it. I had a friend at the time that did the whole "I could never. if he doesn't spend over 3k I don't want it" and that attitude sours the entire relationship imo. You're marrying the person, not material items.
I agree with this 100%. My wife of over 20 years now, when I asked her to get married she was like O.K. if that's what you want she was just happy with the trust and commitment we already had. She just used her Grandmother's wedding ring she already owned, and I bought a ring that was around $700. Then she didn't care about the wedding and neither did I so, we got married at the courthouse and spent the money we would have spent on a wedding for a party for all the family members, etc. and used it for our own Honeymoon together. Honestly I never even wear my ring anymore it was just a liability I would go to work on a car, or do some construction then I had to take it off and keep from loosing it, now I just wear a Silicone ring that's safe and disposable. My wife never wears here ring she works in a hospital and it's just a pain a liability when wearing her gloves, etc. It's so crazy to me that people spend enough money on rings and weddings that they could have put a good down payment on a house instead and invested on their future together rather than some extravagant showcase to impress on everyone else how much they care about each other. You don't have to prove the love and commitment in your relationship to anyone else but your partner, if you guys are true to each other and treat each other right it will usually be obvious to everyone else how much you love each other, spending a lot of money doesn't prove that it just proves your financial priorities are probably bad.
It really is the little things. I remember one time my ex’s car was in the shop and I let her take my to work and use my car. She picked me up 30 minutes late and my front bumper was hanging off because she got into an accident. She didn’t even offer to pay for it. I’ll never forget that kinda thoughtfulness.
2:42 it really means everything I think sometimes people are stuck on Love or affection being shown in a certain way but they forget to recognize when they see it
My husband spent 150 on my first wedding set and we went to justice of the peace to wed. We have been happily married for 21 years and counting❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’d be so elated for someone to want to spend their life with me. The ring would just be the icing on the cake. Imagine caring more about a ring than sharing a last name with someone and belonging to your own family. What a shame of a society we live in.😔
@vmbo it's just a "nice to have, but not mandatory" thing. She said that she someone caring MORE about a ring than becoming a family is insane. Read carefully again.
When it comes to rings, it's been the same from ages ago but girl you so independent and free now so get your own rings. I could get a virgin in the 80's for the money I invest but now?. Lol
For us, we didn't buy any rings. We both don't wear much jewelry, so we just kept our grandparents rings. Mine was my closest grandma, and his was closest grandpa. Our proposal wasn't even romantic, we already knew we wanted to get married. So when we felt it was right, we just said this year should be good. 10 people, civil wedding, dinner at our place, where we cooked for our guests. Simple, no one in debt for one day.
I spent 140 on my wife's engagement ring. It's a token of our love and commitment to each other. A SYMBOL of our marital convenant. My love and value for her is shown in the day to day commitment and care we express for each other. The ring is just a rock. But our love, that endures forever.
I just got married last Halloween. My husband let me pick out my ring. It wasn't even $100. I love it so much! 10k on a ring is ridiculous and most people ain't got it. My engagement ring was way less than that and It came from a thrift store and I still wear it. Madly in love ♡
Honestly, this is going to sound fake, but I would never feel comfortable wearing an expensive ring. I'm clumsy, forgetful and constantly losing/misplacing things. Wearing an expensive ring that's supposed to symbolize my commitment in a relationship would give me unnecessary anxiety on a daily basis.

I doubt this happened in America then😂

Lol
Resourceful indeed, I wish I had that type of ingenuity in my everyday life
Fairytales do exist 😌

It’s more then the ring, weddings put people into major debt.
Refined carbon embedded rings are so overrated.

Hi! I'm the creator of the cop engagement ring video. Please credit me thanks!!! BTW I LOVE YOU GUYS THIS IS CRAZY!!!!
Congrats! Since I'm single, what's the 6 week rule?
@Big Teddies Oh, okay. That rule needs to be replaced with "buy something within your budget."
@BigTeddiesmy dumbass thought the "6 week rule" meant no sex for 6 weeks lol
@BigTeddies I heard it's been upd to 6 months from some of my friends. I thought it's 3 months. 6 months is a full on salary lol 😆 😅

Crazy how predatory that whole process is
That’s insane! You did the right thing
A wise old woman once told me, 'A wedding is a private union between two people with a massive public announcement'.
Yep, the party is one night. The ring is just a thing. Love conquers all. Forever is a hell of a drug. I found my forever, and I'm so happy to be addicted to her.

It's also dangerous to wear jewelry at that price tag bc if I get robbed it goes down the drain.
That's what I was thinking. Why spend so much on a ring when you can use it on a trip around the world?
Great choice! … I personally never cared for jewelry (or shoes etc) - but I do love to travel and have great experiences!!

Probs to your wife for going with the cheaper option. My girl took advantage 🤣

She's going to look so beautiful in it
That's awesome, man. You are certainly blessed! ♥👍
Congrats man!!
Rose gold is an alloy of gold and copper so it technically is diluted with a cheaper metal

He still paid $1750 too much. This so called ring culture is ridiculous.
$1800 is thrifty??
@@ChristopherGray00To me it’s not “just a rock.” We’re pretty old school and go by tradition, and I like that about us. When I could afford it, I bought her a 24 karat gold ring almost 7 years into our marriage. Engagement rings are so freaking stupid.
It's the big buisness of weddings and other big celebrations- they don't care why you're there they just want your money.

Those types of rings are priceless because you can't buy the meaning of them

My friend and I got married a few months apart. He spent around 10 k on the ring. I spent substantially less. Long story short, I'm still married, he went through an incredibly bitter divorce. Inexpensive ring does nothing to make the marriage better, and in fact just puts more stress because now you got to figure out a pay that thing off.

That's like most women. Lol.
Cheap ring? Dude I don't want jewelry. I'd rather have a nice memorable night out and you can have a bonding exoirenxe a stupid ring could never give
So what happens is women pick the wrong guys because they put out the ‘right indicators’ and they inevitably end up in yoyo relationships with narcissists who don’t put in enough but then put in large gestures (indicators) every now and again because their woman is unhappy, which buys them more time to be a douche again, until the next time they have to ‘indicate’ 😅
But then theres Dawn.

Classy reference - love it
Realistically, very few of us truly deserve the things we receive from the people in our lives whether it is their money, their energy, or their time. To think that you are so entitled that you expect someone to spend thousands of dollars on you really shows a lack of character and respect for that person. These people don't deserve love from others because obviously, their own love is conditional.
"These people don't deserve love from others because obviously, their own love is conditional."
Love in inherently conditional and the notion of "unconditional love" is extremely toxic and unrealistic.
When my husband and I decided we would get married, I warned him
He better not spend more than $500 on a ring for me.

I love marriage, mine anyways. I was so excited to propose to my wife I learned how to make my own wedding rings. Has been a rough road, but we're making it brick by brick.
Listen, I clown my boys who have their cpap and not use it. Best sleep of your fucking life. And your wife will thank you for being able to sleep as well.
An engagement ring PLUS A WEDDING RING? And us guys just get a 20 dollar Walmart ring? Okay 😂
Depends on your wife or wife to be.
If you're lucky you'll get a tie and some socks too on your birthday 😅
@@Carlos_12 don't forget the tools for fathers day and nothing else
I’m ring shopping now and I decided on my man’s wedding band and it will cost more than mine. Like who cares?!
@@LaFlor718 But you are what we call an anomaly.
Gross.
Guys are lucky nowadays to find a woman to settle down and start a family with.
Women are always trying to date up.
The meaning will always outweigh the cost. Thank you to everyone for sharing!
Omg I luv that I was thinking doing something with my birth stone and his for our real wedding rings.
I’ll never forget that kinda thoughtfulness.

it really means everything I think sometimes people are stuck on Love or affection being shown in a certain way but they forget to recognize when they see it
My husband spent 150 on my first wedding set and we went to justice of the peace to wed. We have been happily married for 21 years and counting❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤
Shoutout to all the practical women out there who look to the future.
I’d be so elated for someone to want to spend their life with me. The ring would just be the icing on the cake. Imagine caring more about a ring than sharing a last name with someone and belonging to your own family. What a shame of a society we live in.😔
The ring is the icing on the cake 😑?
@vmbo it's just a "nice to have, but not mandatory" thing. She said that she someone caring MORE about a ring than becoming a family is insane. Read carefully again.
@@dante4444 who cares at all about a piece of round metal? Even if it's 10K. Now you wasted 10K on a piece of metal around your finger
Social Media has ruined Women's REALity on Love and Relationships.
No bro, on this, women have been like this about rings for eons, just more concentrated due to SM.
A wedding and ring won't hold your relationship through rocky times. But what do I know🤭
When it comes to rings, it's been the same from ages ago but girl you so independent and free now so get your own rings. I could get a virgin in the 80's for the money I invest but now?. Lol
You young and inexperienced people blame everything on social media 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Its definitely not social media. Isn't it a "thing" that you should spend 30% of your annual salary on the engagement ring or something?
I didn't need my ring to be 10k, I needed it to be something I loved. Something beautiful, that's all.
You'll have a good memory of your marriage and bond for sure
Honestly, this is going to sound fake, but I would never feel comfortable wearing an expensive ring. I'm clumsy, forgetful and constantly losing/misplacing things. Wearing an expensive ring that's supposed to symbolize my commitment in a relationship would give me unnecessary anxiety on a daily basis.
You'd be thinking I'm gonna get robbed. This is dumb AF. Which is why as a man. I never understood the expensive chain thing.
No you're perfectly valid. Spend that money on a good exoidence or toward a home or savings.
@@houseofhas9355 the dudes who wear those care about machismo. That is part of why they want it to wear it, that they are so rich and tough, they have a chain and can fight off thieves, bahaha!
I lost a $200 ring a few months ago, and was DEVASTATED. I feel you
Why would it sound fake? Totally agree. Wearing expensive jewelry feels like an invitation to robbers to come get something.
YES! The little things are the big things! It means you are living your day-to-day life with thoughtfulness and tenderness for the other person. Nothing feels better than those little reminders you’re loved
I gave my wife a $150 ring when we got married. All we had for me was a rusted keyring. Got married in a courthouse after traffic court for $50. My sisters spent thousands on rings and their weddings a couple of times each. 17 years later, my wife and I don't even wear our rings. I'm the only one of my siblings still married. Money doesn't mean shit. Love is love.
