- In this Video, George becomes the patient as well as the therapist and inserts an NPA airway on himself gaining an understanding and the experience of what a patient would feel when one of these airways is inserted. Ouch
Some people just have the gift of teaching. No matter what they are speaking on, their voice and mannerisms just draw you in and you feel like you're listening to a friend and not being lectured to. George, thank you so very much for this video, sir! You are greatly appreciated!
I am a combat lifesaver for the Army and we did this on training day. It was so awful, props to you for doing it on yourself!
I saw a guy do it after putting it in his mouth to lube it with his own spit then shove it in his head. I could never imagine applying it to myself. That man is crazy.
Dude I wish I could be a 68W. I have psoriasis and I'm 30 so I've been turned away. Going through medic school now though
@@serenitynoobosity5905 I really don't know, but I have been to multiple recruiting offices, and they all had the same consensus
@@serenitynoobosity5905 I wasn't let in back in 76 because of high protein but still to this day I work in chemical plants and am still useful. In a way I'm glad I didn't make it in back then because of all the suicides of our Veterans, I feel that their treatment after their service leaves a lot to be desired :(
@@TheGreatFuckinWorm You can use spit or blood to lube it if your lube pack has punctured in your kit. People freak out about things being sterile. You can only fight infection if your alive to do so. It's like saying, I would have saved his life but nothing I had was sterile, so he probably would have gotten an infection.
You got 100% respect from me to know what your patients go through.
We just watched this in our EMT class… You’re our hero!

Wow! I had a spinal cord injury (C6 complete) years ago and this procedure is the only thing I look back on like it was yesterday. I had it done twice and the third time they wanted to do it I told them they’d have to put me under… it was worse than breaking my neck and the multiple surgeries and years of rehab afterwards. I am amazed you did this willingly and impressed you did it with such grace! What a Doctor and man you must be!!
My hat goes off to you sir, thank you for giving those of us who are still learning an opportunity to see what this procedure looks like on a real human being. Hopefully this will help first-time practitioners take a bit more extra caution when they remember those tears rolling down your cheek!
I'm just doing a basic airway management refresher (EMT) and realized I had never seen a training video showing insertion on an actual person. This was great! Watching you size that NPA, it sure looked to me like the size 7 was too long, and your gag reflex apparently thought so too. You are a braver man than I. Thanks so much for a great series of videos.
Showing this to my IT students right now in class. They are impressed and grossed out at the same time. Great video!
Thanks, Glad that it of benefit for your class.
Things we do for medicine! Thank you for doing this!
Thank you
Dear George, Being a BSN, I really appreciate your hard work on yourself and teaching generations. Thank you indeed and you are so amazing and may the Lord bless you brother!
Doing it on yourself is just mad, hats off to you sir. 100% respect for knowing what the patient goes through
Thank you for the wonderful video and explanation. I always wonder what the patient feels and this definitely changes the perspective.
Dude!! That was an amazing demonstration. Loved the line at the end, “…doesn’t feel so great!” Just wow and thanks.
the only way to genuinely feel for a patient is having the procedure done yourself. great video. thank you :)
I'm currently learning to do this on my 20 day old son. He was born with a cleft palette. I'm really struggling and this has helped to know I'm not hurting him. Thanks
This Is great!! Entertaining and education I love the addition of the small amounts of comedy here and there This is a great teacher/ educator person!!!! This is the first time watching this guy!! this show is awesome!!!
He deserves to be applaused 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 thank you for sharing your experience
You sir have my respect.

Oh George....I miss you haha loved nait and the memories. Can't believe U only slightly gagged once!
George, you are awesome! please continue to inspire us with your wonderful videos! I learn a lot from you as a respiratory student!
Thanks Michelle. Glad they help
George, that was incredible. Takes guts to do that. Thanks.
Tears of joy I assume. Great job demonstrating it!
I admire your commitment to your craft Sir.
I literally just found out about these devices today & now I know what they're all about! Thx!
🤣🤣🤣 oh mate! That was brilliant to watch! Thanks pal.
I was expecting self nasal pharyngeal suctioning for an encore.... brilliant!
In the army we did CLS classes. We were told it was very uncomfortable and needed to use the lube, if you didn’t have lube, you could use blood. Hats off to you for training the medical profession.
Your own blood or the patient’s?
We were told blood could be used as a last resort, but you don’t want to do it because when blood dries and you have to take out the NPA it will be very painful. Saliva, either the patient’s or yours, would be better
That was mighty brave of you. From the tears, I already felt like it was on me. Your teaching was very interesting, thank you for this. Kudos.
Wow that was a GREAT demonstration. I just finshed RN school. Thanks for the real demonstration. Excellent!!!!
You are great, George! 🎉❤

YEA! THAT KICKED A##, WOW. Thanks For the LESSON! I CAN't forget THAT! As a EMT-I, I just want to try it on my self, as well! So I can feel what my patient's, will feel, as not to be to ruff. Thank.👍
Ugh. +God bless you for having done this+ Thank you Dr.
You are a star! Wow! Definitely reminds me to be kinder and gentler!!
Bravo, Sir. Bravo! This certainly gives us the most physically sensational accounting of how this would feel short of us doing it to ourselves...excellent. Thank you
Going to show this to my EMS students. Thanks!
No problem. Thanks for watching
Oh boy you really took one for the team (insert clapping) thankful for your instruction as I study for my first ALS/PALS :-)

My hat is off to you....Thank you for the information. You have helped me help others.
You are a champ! I'm here as a nursing student. I was hoping someone had the courage to put it in the left side, because apparently there's a different method. I'm looking for left-side insertion, but I like your videos...so I had to keep watching. Glad you didn't lose it - only a few tears! :D
Awesome George!
you are sooo brave for doing this - ugh. thanks for your fantastic way of demystifying concepts
Respect for doing that to yourself for us. Thank you.

I love your voice inflections :). I've given and received and NPA and it's pretty cool.
I'm glad to have actually seen it, that said, I don't ever want to see that again!
Bruh…wow yeah I’m going to give it a go on myself. I’m an acupuncture doctor and presently also a firefighter and emt. Just had a patient where couldn’t insert a opa due to clenching and the arriving para used an npa I wanted to just see it done on a live person again cuz even the para had a lil resistance. Your video whoooo yeah thank you for this. 🙏🏿👍🏿
Wow. You’re so brave to try this on you. Thank youuuuuuuu
You are a legend for this. Thank you so much.
That was a great hands on I've ever seen...👍👍
wow man, never seen someone insert themselves so calmly. that is such an uncomfortable process that I never want to be awake for again.
LOL! I’m starting a respiratory care program in the spring and I love watching your videos, they’re helping to prepare me. Thanks
Hi: Glad that they're helpful for you and hope you have fun in your new program!
Dobra robota George O. dziękuje bardzo, dzieki tobie upewniłem się jaką rurkę nosowo-gardłową dobrać dla mojej osoby.
George!!! You ARE THE MAN!!! 👊🏽😂
Totally enjoyed that... and learned a lot!
I'm a student RT, and the idea of putting that down my own nasal passages is beyond my imagination. Thank you for the visual. I think I'm crying with you now, haha!
Thanks for your comment and I hope that your studies are going well. Stay safe.
