Magellan is the most underrated character in One Piece. He is the only person who defeated both Luffy and Blackbeard. Man, he is a legendary character of One Piece to me.
He has one of my favorite fruit, and if you think about it, his only weakness is due to the fact that he voluntarily eat poison, truly OP

Pretty sure Lucci doesn't kill Luffy because their agreement with Robin is that the straw hats will be able to leave Water 7 alive, not because Lucci thinks Luffy is unworthy

I was wondering when someone would bring that up because there's something that I know is fact, because besides the agreement why do you think cp9 wanted to frame the straw hats for Icebergs murder? They don't have the Going Merry anymore, so the only logical conclusion for the straw hats to leave or Force to leave water 7 safely, is via the sea train, and given the stops the sea train has, I wouldn't be surprised if there were Marines waiting for the straw hat crew at those stops, they were planning to keep their word while backstabbing Robin ever since they learn that Robin was heading for water 7.

Katakuri had the physical win. Luffy had the ideological win. Katakuri understood he was an essentially weaker fighter because his resolution was so easily rocked by luffys words and actions.
Luffy shared the same values as katakuri, but with a resolve that was unyielding. He allowed himself to show weakness, katakuri believed any sign of weakness meant you were weak, when showing weakness is an expression of power
I like how katakuri's fruit was basically a better version of luffy's, aside from their awakened forms, since he could also turn into a stretchy, elastic substance but could produce more of it and use it to regenerate, essentially meaning luffy was fighting the better version of himself yet still gave katakuri a hard time with gear 4 snakeman, something katakuri never thought of doing with his fruit.
@@ProjektTaku no, gear 4 snakeman was essentially luffy doing with his fruit what Kata was doing, twisting his body to evade attacks and using his future sight to attack where the target is GOING. The only key difference is that luffy isn't a gomu man, the way kata is a mochi man.
@@superanimeniac he didn't really twist his body to evade attacks, the python was for gaining speed and momentum, so he could counter katakuri's future sight.
Infact python was built to stop katakuri from evade attacks since even if he does it once, python will just change with him.
@@ProjektTaku yeah, but during the fight with Kaido, he mocked luffy because he also had advanced observation, and was twisting his body very similar to how luffy did with snakeman. The entire point of snakeman was to work with advanced observation haki.

Snakeman's purpose was to counter advanced observation haki, with his own observation haki being a nice little buff.
Beating Blackbeard will be the biggest haki test, because he couldn't defeat kaido with just haki ( he used his op Devil fruit) and Kaido said that haki is the most important, but Blackbeard can absorb Devil fruit powers so the best haki will be needed to beat Blackbeard
Which also means Shanks is his peak foil in that regard!

We think BB haki is weak, but that guy has the durability no one has. Also, gura gura fruit as an offensive tool is much stronger than any haki, and there's simply no way to cancel it right? It's not like BB himself turns into darkness or anything. Haki doesn't cancel any of his DF powers.
I still think BB in a 1v1 fight is weaker than some of the admirals and yonkos.
Let's not forget about Buggy. He was going to execute Luffy and the reason he didn't succeed was that it was stopped by Dragon. It was also an important moment for the story because it was the first time that a character with the D in its name was shown smiling accepting death

I love Magellan, he funny and much stronger than he's given credit for. I was surprised with how easily he handled everyone, granted he was in a fortress so his powers worked well with all the hallways and closed in areas. He still is very strong
He really is and I love the fact that towards the end of Impel Down, it isn't about trying to defeat Magellen. It was about trying to get the hell away from him.

Kaido had Big Mom on Rooftop. There's nothing wrong in Luffy using help from his friends. If Luffy wasn't on the rooftop, everyone else would be dead in few minutes.

I think this is what's going to happen in this new arc, Luffy will learn that kuma saves them at the seabody and kuma memories was actually transferred to the lunarian Kuma. A lot of the hints are related to kuma as well in this arc. Im statying to think he will join luffys crew

@@bonerpants7203 Jimbei told us he was not motivated to fight Akainu, he only fought because he didn’t wanna work under his commands and when he lost he simply just left the marines. Aokiji fought with someone he wasn’t motivated to fight with for 10 days even when Akainu had a fruit that countered his. Akainu is also pretty much featless while aokiji on the other hand has many feats to back up my argument.

If Luffy is truly immune to poison after the time skip, he is one of the few people who can defeat Magelan.
I believe Magellan became the top prison guardian for important reasons.
Prison break part II would be a great arc if that happened.

It’s actually a theme. Rufy is destined to become the Pirate King (and/or to fulfill Joyboy’s promise…) so even when he would have died fate intervened and saved him. In Ligue town for example he was possibly saved twice by Dragon as he was also going to get decapitated by Buggy but a lightning strike saved him at the last moment…

Would you consider Luffy vs Franky, before franky joined, a lost? If not for plot armor, where Franky ends up joining the strawhats, Franky technically stole their money, used it for what he wanted and came out as the Victor

Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper beat the hell out of the Franky Family and destroyed their house as a result for hurting Usopp. Franky wasn't even around at the time and he got PISSED upon seeing that when he returned (that was when he was buying Amber Wood with the money he stole from them). He then personally goes out to find Luffy which leads to their one-on-one fight. They would've continued if not for Galley La interrupting.

Hear me out. What if when Dragon saves Luffy from the execution block, it wasn't Dragon's devil fruit but his extremely potent Conquerors Haki. It may have been an even more powerful Haki feat than Shanks using his Conquerors at the end of Wano.
If it was, why didn't it knocked out the Marine grunts? They were definitely shown being knocked away by this "green wind" as well. I always thought that Dragon either has a wind DF (Logia probably since wind is an element) or a dragon df that allows him to generate powerful winds

One correction - Aokiji's logia doesn't allow him to go intangible (due to ice being a solid), so he's not immune to haki-less attacks unlike pretty much all other logias (the other exception is Blackbeard but that's a different story)
One thing I love about One Piece is that Luffy is defeated several times, unlike many other shonens where you know beforehand that the protagonist will win.

Smoker's weapon going through Dragon's hand in the anime will always and forever bother me
Dragon is too strong and yes it doesn't make sense. What if Dragon found a way to defend against seastone, like he has an item of short?! Or we know some devil fruit suser aren't faced from the water, one is Brooke we saw him running through water more than 3 times

Akainu , magellan and crocodile were among the individuals that can put luffy's life at stake , magellan being poisoned him to the near death , akainu punching him so hard that it pierces throughout his body and crocodile uses his ability and make luffy almost dried up and experienced near death situation.
I don't include aokiji since he was the only one that kill luffy if not for his debt towards garp , if aokiji was having a heart of akainu , the whole crew ended up their journeys before reaching water 7.
I really like when a mc loses a fight because the opposite character is better than him and mc learns something
And I hate when mc wins because of plot Armor

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I personally believe that Magellan is the single strongest person working for the world government, I mean, he no diffed luffy and blackbeard and not a single person in impel down even bothered to fight him other then luffy, luffy didn't even beat him, he simple held him off for long enough

That's not Akainu's doing. That's built up trauma and despair of 4 arcs and Ace's death which breaks him.
Anyone can be in Akainu's place and Luffy'd feel same.

Oda doesn't use this template because he wants, he is using it because there is no other way. Either you have a character that always wins no matter what or a character that sometimes loses, but in order to progress the story you have to bring him back unless you're going to kill main character. The only exception is to make Luffy run away and let the antagonist be defeated by someone else, like Big Mom was.

Kata fought Luffy who was holding back gear 4 for 10 hrs , and still couldn't put him down. Katakuri used everything he has even df awakening and still couldn't do nothing.

Magellan looks really intimidating, and he is especially to anyone who fights physically. Perhaps Logia users like even Ace, might be able to fight him.
But anyone who even has basically understanding of Ryou (Advanced Armament) or at worst, Advanced Conqueror's Haki, they could fight Magellan without touching him effectively taking out the impenetrable defense of his.
Here if the same ACH user turns out to be a Logia user as well then Magellan becomes pretty easy to deal with

The Tekkai always looked so dangerous to me. Yeah back then when the power level wasnt that high, tekkai looked impressive, but imagine going "Tekkai" and being smacked by Yamato's thunder bagua for example. One shot didnt even try to dodge.

So we know that shanks was the rival of mihawk in swordsmanship with both his arms when there was no one having the title of the world's greatest swordsman so it could be possible that they both were fighting for that title particularly and when shanks met luffy he had to sacrifice his arm and beacouse of that mihawk was the only one capable of that title . And the proof of this theory is that when mihawk came to the red hair pirates regarding luffys new bounty first shanks was angry of the defeat he took from mihawk in being the worlds greatest swordsman but after he saw luffy bounty he forgot that loss so it could be possible that shanks could get the title of the world's greatest swordsman if he had both his arms???? Luffy has had a lot of defeats from a lot of characters honestly, but most are very temporary requiring the crew to save him and fight the henchmen before he beats the big bad, but those are not so clear cut as Kreig. Yes, without his crew Luffy would have not gotten out of his defeat at the hands of Django, or Arlong but he comes back... but that's just not true for Kreig. Kreig is only beaten by Gin, and that's only due to Sanji's kindness. Of course breaking Kreig's armour and showing he can be defeated was an important part of the arc, but important losses are still losses.
