What a shame for the connections since the World's most classic prestigious grade 1 is the only one ever that has *Eluded Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum*. *Maxfield* has a significant shot coming in 2020's Kentucky Derby since *Maxfield* recently took down the grade 1 Keeneland Futurity on dirt at Keeneland *Stylishly* last Saturday. Go *Maxfield* {*Big Blue-Godolphin-Ky Wildcats*} LOL
I watch the race live at my HPI account, you wont see this back view camera on the live race. Its obvious that they edited it to cover up the unfair start suffered by few horses due to foul riding made by jockey Rajiv Maragh , Classic Empire suffered the most.

Practical Joke ran a credible race, just don't don't this is the ideal distance for him. He had the dream trip I hoped he'd get and Joel had a lot of horse early and placed him beautifully. Looked like he might rally in the last bit, but he just didn't have any more gears. I do like that horse, I know the Preakness is only a bit shorter but I think the track will favour his running style, and if they get a dry track I think he could well. Hope he tries the Preakness.
Yeah my boy Always Dreaming won!! I picked 1st and 4th correct, but wtf is up with these longshots finishing 2nd and 3rd?? Somebody got some nice payoffs
6th! devil where were you at the Backstretch? no. All good, brave run. you are a technical wonderhorse in moving to side...😉 could end better, but the fresh apple you earn afterwards this slippery dirty race, with too much horses, half of them never got chance. thx, "Young Man" 🗨... see you flying to win next time...🍎
Idk...something about this years derby seemed a little lack luster. I'll admit Thunder Snow was my pick because i really liked the grit he showed in the UAE Derby so i was a little upset that he DNF but it was still a good race just not as exciting i guess for some reason...hope the best for Always Dreaming in the Preakness!
This horse is direct descendant of Something Royal by PRincequillo. The Same genetic markers as Secretariat... no wonder he ran so esily.. same strides as Secretariat too.
Many horses are descendants of Secreteriat. He is not a "direct" descendant though, Somethingroyal is in his pedigree, but she isn't his direct maternal line. Also he has a completely different biomechanic from Secretariat.
In Thoroughbred parlance you can only have "half-siblings" through the mother. Because a stallion can sire easily 100 foals + each year, it would be weird to all refer them as half-siblings and would become somewhat meaningless in terms of relatedness. Even if they technically share the same dad.
They have the same grand sire. "Related" for horses looks more to the female side. "Half brothers (sisters)" are horses that had the same broodmare and different sires. Horses by the same sire are not referred to as half brothers.
This guy buys a racehorse thinking he'll make a lot of money, but after only four races the horse comes in dead last in every race. The owner realizes he's losing money with all the up keep costs, so he angrily go into the stable and yell's at the horse, "If you don't win this race, you'll be pulling a milkwagon in the morning!!!" So they load the horse's into the starting gate, the bell goes off as the gates open, and this horse settles in last behind the field. The jockey goes right to the whip, and with that the horse turns to the jockey and says " Yo! Take it eazy. I got to get up early tomorrow morning and pull a milkwagon!!"
how could they let the horses run in that mud, there was no way anyone else was gonna catch him they were too muddied up, dirty and weighted down by it, the jockeys could hardly see where they going...get some turf down
Actually, some horses actually relish the mud and run better in it then on dry surfaces. And the mud isn't the reason Always Dreaming won, it was a combination of both an easy lead and a weak field. And in races like these, jockeys have many pairs of goggles for this and take goggles off as they get muddy
I don't know if this was a whole race because I don't follow this stuff at all but if it is people just paid a lot of money to watch horses run in a circle.

Danny Calk I work at a horse track but it was SO LOUD that I couldn't hear it. After listening to this I must agree with you. I work at Portland Meadows which is a small track but even our announcers do much better. This guy was the worst K Derby announcer that I've ever heard.
Not to mention Classic Empire got mugged so hard McCraken t-boned him and slammed him into a horse on his inside, at the beginning (#17 IWC's jockey was completely reckless out of the gate and killed the race for #12-#16) got squeezed back, then again was bumped into by McCraken in the stretch who forced him out wide after Gormley came to cut in. Poor horse has a swollen eye and is all cut up today according to the trainer. McCraken is injured and can't go to the Preakness. I hope Rajiv gets fined, this isn't the first time it has happened.
colfer222 Kentucky Derby is always the 1st Saturday in May. Rarely has the weather been this bad with such a muddy & sloppy track. So yeah, this derby race was different than most.

Also wound up here after seeing Thunder Snow win the Dubai World Cup. Man he just didn't give a f*#k on the first saturday in May though
I thought he had suffered a hideous breakdown in the Derby.
Was that a bucking strap on the no.2 horse?
No, probably all the slop. Same effect.

A ridiculous stampede of 20 horses is a big reason we went 37 years without a Triple Crown winner. Limit the Derby field to 12.
No way why? Lets here your reasoning as I hit Barbaro's trifecta for 11k for a $1 LOL it wouldn't have paid 3k in a 12 horse field boooooo LOL
