Chris, this is by far one of the most in-depth reviews that I have seen of this device. Many reviewers just go over the specs which doesn't help much. I live in India and bought the 12GB variant for 609 USD. The Indian variant of Samsung S20FE, just like many other Samsung flagships, comes with a Exynos processor which steers away a lot of Indians from the brand. So I guess, 8T was the right choice for me. I really feel Oneplus should give a slow charging feature like the one on Asus ROG 3. Would be very handy. I really haven't seen the Optimized Charging at play. The phone charges at normal speed even when the feature is turned on. As Oneplus has claimed the 65W charging brick is backward compatible, other Oneplus phones that don't support 65W charging can be charged with it. I wanted to know, if the 8T can be charged with a 20W charger, that was shipped with my 3T? I had an online chat with a OnePlus care executive who told me it isn't safe to charge it with a 20W charger, which I find ridiculous. Is this true?
@Shantanu Mistry Yes, I'm more than satisfied. The only reason I didn't go with the 8 Pro is due to the curved display, which isn't my taste. It sure looks good but no. Also the 8 Pro has display issues which a lot of users have complained about. You can find such videos on TH-cam. I guess 8T was a safe choice for me.
@Shantanu Mistry If money isn't problem, 8 pro is much better phone. I'm using it currently, and have also Oneplus 8 and 8t for couple of days. 8 is battery champ, and its very compact, 8t have pretty visible bezels around screen, have great refresh rate (not too much different compared to 90hz, believe me), overal great build and it's snappy like all Oneplus phones, but.... Cameras are not comparable to 8pro, very visible quality difference. I'm very very pleased with 8 pro cameras quality, and i cannot say that for 8 and 8t. Overall very good phones all three but, 8pro is class for itself.
@Shantanu Mistry My display is perfect, i live in Europe maybe it's different batch from Indidan. Here its IN2023 model. No ghosting, no green tint, except very special scenario with one tone of grey and lowest possible brightness in pitch black room, there is some kind of greenish tint, but i never ever use phone in such circumstances. You have to try hard to see that green tint. I don't know how indian units are, maybe worst but i doubt, it should be same quality control for all regions.

The OnePlus 8, 8 Pro and Nord did have preinstalled Facebook and Instagram along with their underlying background services, the latter of which cannot be uninstalled normally. Great to see OnePlus knowing users didn't want those preinstalled, but OOS 11 still leaves a lot to be desired in my own experience, it's just more the animations don't feel as natural as pure stock Android 11, like on the Pixel phones.
The white navigation bar on the black screentest is very intrusive. Is there any way to turn it off? MIUI tried the same thing, but thankfully it can be turned off (no on-screen indicators). If that's what Android 11 can offer, im kinda worried.

Thanks for the great in-depth review! I don't really see how "hotter than other phones in gaming" is a con, that is, without mentioning the pro of "no gpu throtteling during gaming". Namely, the temperature of the phone ultimately boils down to the power draw from the SoC, as the phone temperature directly represents its heat dissipation. Therefore, other phones can only run cooler due to reduced power consumption, either due to thermal throttling or a less powerful SoC. Moreover, the OP8T seems to do an okay job at avoiding hot spots, so heat dissipation seems well optimized. IMO, it is good to see that the OP8T allows the SoC to be used to its full potential, thus with maximum power draw.
It's minor but other phones are a good 5-6 degrees c cooler. Same game. Same SoC, same 1 hour gaming. And remember I had no case on it. So with a case I can see it hitting 55 degrees c or more.
@@Techtablets Yes, so that means that the other phone must have been power throttling. The OP8T can only generate more heat if it is consuming more power, it cannot generate heat/energy out of thin air. Vise versa; you can only achieve lower temperatures by lowering power draw or by enhancing heat dissipation across the chassis. Again, it should be mentioned here that the OP8T should do an excellent job on heat dissipation considering its elaborate cooling setup (thermal paste + vapor chamber). I just quickly checked your review on the S20FE; its temperature is 10 degrees lower across the entire phone while using the same SoC. That implies 30-50% less power draw from the SoC. It would be interesting to monitor the CPU and GPU frequency during the gaming test. It's hardly an impressive feat to achieve lower temperatures when the SoC is being choked.
Great review ❤️. Just brought 8T. One query - should I continue charging with 65 W charger or switch it to 18/ 20 W to get a better battery life. I meant, continuing charging 8T with 65W brick would hamper battery lifespan in long run, wouldn't it?

It's hardly an impressive feat to achieve lower temperatures when the SoC is being choked.
wow why does it get so hot? I want to buy a phone mainly for gaming and was thinking of this, but damn my old phone already gets very hot
buy gaming phone like asus
One plus 8t for $730 or the regular galaxy s20 for $610 do you think the the 8t is worth it?
S20 FE looks like a better choice than regular S20
@@notagain2856 how it's more expensive lol

This video was a complete delight to the eyes, so beautifuly shot. Great job Chris!
Great review ❤️. Just brought 8T. One query - should I continue charging with 65 W charger or switch it to 18/ 20 W to get a better battery life. I meant, continuing charging 8T with 65W brick would hamper battery lifespan in long run, wouldn't it?
If you are worried just use a lower watt rated charger
@@Techtablets also I have noticed there are some wordings something like CE just below the OnePlus brand name at the back. It's not for product sold in USA or India. Why that difference, any views?
Which colour is better lunar silver or aquamarine
@@satyendrayadav9195 silver is a frosted glass look . Aquamarine is more like the Nord style, transperent glass look with more blue tint in it. I liked Lunar Silver. It looks more compelling.
Btw, would you be doing an in depth comparison between the S20 FE 5G and OP8T? The price segment between these two phones are rather similar.
Chris, please... it's 577€ + 15€ shipping and 4% fee for PayPal, so 615€ and not even 100€ cheaper + you need to wait 2 weeks and get CN charger. 5G is not fully supported, no N28 which means no Vodafone. If you buy it from your pocket, how TS can be the sponsor?
Could you review ths vs the new xiaomi mi 10t pro ?
Do you know how to prevent display issues ?
I can confirm that the freezing issue in chrome is due to oxygen os. It has been like this on my OnePlus 6 for quite some time now. A few of my friends also experienced this on their 7 pro
Oh really so it's been around for a while. It's true my S20 FE or the others I haven't had it freeze up on me. Hopefully it's fixed asap
@@Techtablets a very quick fix when this happens is just to lock your screen and then unlock it again. Quite a weird big I Know :3
@@Techtablets switch to Android Webview Beta
Freezing issue in chrome is in asus rog 2 also.
I've seen this on a Pixel 4 XL too. I think this is a Chrome bug.
Will this phone last for 5 to 6 years in normal usage
Lmao nobody keeps their phone that Long
were you playing games on high settings?
I want to buy one plus 8t.

What's the point of 12 gb of ram and then have software that closes all apps in the ram?
Headline: One Big DOWNFALL, review: Actualy quite good, you like it. How do these 2 compare? Or just wanted a headline that create interest, so lying is better???
Nope it's true the camera is the downfall. So it's just one thing...
@@Techtablets it's not that bad now. If oneplus fixed white balance it would be pretty good.
LTE band 28 is getting to be more widely used in Asia and already in widespread use for Australia/NZ.

Chrome freezing up in oxygen os 11 on oneplus 8 pro for me as well. Seems like might be an oxygen os 11 issue.
It's a chrome issue
On my 7T PRO with OOS 10 chrome do the same. I think it's an Oxigen thing, not chrome.
is it worth to buy for 499euros ?
100% for that price.
@@Techtablets Just bought it yesterday, im very hapy with it, thank you for the review!
