My dad love mohamud songs and he pass way in 1985 in Addis Abebe. I lift my country in 1990. I live in Australia I still love this song I wish my two children learn Amharic and listen his song. Dear Mahamud Ahemd I would like to say Thank very much behalf of my family who love so much.
A man who has experienced heartbreak speaks to himself, offering wise counsel. Though his heart may no longer trust, he finds strength in self-reflection. Now, tell us-what country are you from?
@@cry_red I feel you. I am Ethiopian, Mohammud Ahmed is one of the greatest Ethiopian musicians. I heard a singer from Zimbabwe called Oliver Mutkudzi 10 years ago, and is hooked to his songs ever since. I have absolutely no idea about the language, but I read the titles of the songs and listen to the songs. The man died recently and I almost cried. No language barrier on good music!!
I listen to 'TIZITA' when I am sad and when I am happy...'TIZITA' is the recollection of the past and the nostalgia of the yesteryear's..and when I want to listen to a deeply melancholic 'TIZITA' song I listen to the great Mahmud Ahmed! ...Mahmud Ahmed the great son of our beloved Ethiopia!
*from Reddit * Sadly google doesn't do any Amahric :( Lemme give the translation a go He is basically singing/giving advise to himself (gelaye = literally my body...but it somehow more poetic than that) (x2) Tew limed gelaye - my body please adapt (please get used to) Titoh yeheiden sewu gelaye, atbel kelelaye (stop counting on someone who left you) Mewudedin leraQe, gefto leheyde sewu (gelaye) (someone who pushed and stayed away from love) Degmom yekedahin, beQah atastawsewu (enough forget about that someone who deserted you) YefiQir simeitu, kalhone acha-lacha (gelaye) (the feeling of love is not on par) Lesuam yejuan yisTat, atasib lebicha (may she get what she deserves, stop reminiscing) Engidiih yeruQ sewu, teguaj alnafiQim (and I will no longer miss someone afar) BiiTeyein mefeleg, sayishal ayQerim (probably best to look for someone like me) Yeheiden shegnito, menafeQ meCHeneQ Tewu limed gelaye, bel lerasih eweQ (after seeing off someone who left you, worrying and missing is not wise for you) (x4) Tew limed gelaye - my body please adapt (please get used to) sewu limed gelaye (get used to a (new) person) (x4)Titoh yeheiden sewu gelaye, atbel kelelaye (stop counting on someone who left you) TemaTsignat kalchalku, bemiskiinu anjetey (gelaye) (if my begging doesn't work) Tizita siyadekmewu, wato sewunetey (melancholy weakening my longing body) Aytagn endezebet, keCHekene hodua (gelaye) (and after seeing me (in that state) and she remains headstrong) Ermeyn lawTa engidiih, kalQere* meheydua (lemme just give up if she inevitably leaves) WenCHifeym yitaTef, yiseQel kemama (my slingshot will no longer be in use) MafQer kaltadelkugn, libeym keteQemahu (if I'm not lucky enough to love, and i'm robbed of my heart) Bemeheyduam QorTo, libeym yideladel (my heart best settle and accept her leaving) Kemazen besteQer, engidiih min yibel (apart from my sorrow, nothing more to say)
Kudos on the effort! Some expressions in here unfortunately can only be best described in native vernacular - for example, "Wentchifem Yitatef; Yisekel Kemama". One needs a deeper contextual understanding of Ethiopian culture to appreciate the degree of despair (from a broken heart in this case) expressed in that lyric. In any event, thank you for trying your best to translate such profound emotions. This song is truly a window into how vulnerable people become when they fall in love with another person.
great questions and insight. Yes we mostly willingly serve the purpose of a few elites (that doesn't mean we can't do something about it in a positive way) but that doesn't mean we can't find beauty in a toxic world. We can live together as we are and that's as humans (it's that simple) but that's not the way the conditioned mind sees this illusion. We can fix the quarrel of the past or we can carry the heavy burden in our backs as you said like Palestine and Israel.
Bro, thank you so so much for the uploads. Am Eritrean living in Canada, never lived in Eritrea but this music makes sense to me and my musical sense it moves my inside I feel it. Funk, soul, rock and ofcourse Habsha. Its funny that am into music and know about all kind of genres but when I heard this I felt home 😭😭. Roha Band WOOW. Thank you brother.
Julian Casablancas told me to check out this performance. 'maybe the best song of all time?could be! It's in the running', he said. He may be right. Thanks Julian (if you ever read this).
Very beautiful song from one of the greatest. I'm a long time fan of Mahmoud Ahmed and Amharic music but I don't understand a word and often have wondered what the songs mean. What is this one about? thx
if u have facebook, u can reach Selam Seyoum there, he will be more than happy to tell you everything about Roha Band, he's such a humble dude, God Bless Them all.
We are living in abroad and make some money and support only our own family. But we always like to see those great bands(Roha etc...) reunite. Lately we don't even buy original CD. We all run on TH-cam and get the music we want for FREE. We never ask ourself how those great artist support them self and their family. It's all about money. Money is power. I always cry when compare our legend artists with the American artist. Specially when I hear those legend get sick and beg the people to contribute money to go in Asia to get medical assistant. And let's be honest, how many of us are really willing to help them? Can you imagine that. Anyway I wish them all the best.
100% agreed. When ever the then Roha's band members give their interview, they talked to much about the mentioned three people only. This is cancers dieses in our culture

Thank you bizuye. Let's stop the politics of everything and replace it with Love. Someone once said "Pain is Natural. Suffering is an option"
