AC/DC reinvented rock n roll. After all the technical masters of the early-mid 70s, along they came playing three/four chord songs in the mold of 1950’s rock n roll, just with distortion and the same amount of energy as Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Every song was basic 50s rock that kicked ass and you could dance to. Plus, during the Bon Scott era they never released a bad song. They all were awesome!

My introduction to this band, what the fuck, I'm around 14 or 15 years old, my favorite bands are Sabbath, Kiss, Van Halen, Priest, and then I see this monster fucking band. As I was with Deuce on Kiss Alive, Sabbath, everything, etc., this band blew me the fuck away. I had my cassette player recording this, sitting in front of the tv, but of course it was a piece of shit compared to what you have today, but it's all we had in the '70's. I've learned as time has moved forward that you gain appreciation for what is available now, but if you only knew and had heard a simple taped recording of music from a tv say, that's all you knew and you were glad to have this recording. Back then was gold to you, today it would be considered shit. If you were a die hard metal head, you plugged it into your car stereo and turned on your power booster and played it as loud as possible. Since no one else had anything that sounded better it didn't fucking matter about the poor sound quality. Hey, we jammed to the best we were able to at the time.

I was at this taping and it was amazing! It’s not very loud at the show and someone asked Angus why it wasn’t cranked up. He nodded to the sound guy and dropped to the floor and played a huge solo with volume cranked up! Asked if that was good? IT WAS AWESOME! Great day except having to listen to Ted play Stranglehold at least 5 times in a row. There were two stages set up with Ted at one end and Cheap Trick on the other. At one point Ted suggested that they both play loud at the same time and blast everyone out. GREAT DAY!

My brothers went to see the Aerosmith/ACDC concert around this same time & said ACDC was absolutely incredible & blew Aerosmith off the stage as Tyler & Perry were all fucked up & could barely stand. A few songs in, the crowd started chanting 'We want ACDC' . Bon Scott never sang a shitty song. RIP.

I'm 55yrs old now Dec 11th, 2019, I consider myself so very lucky & Blessed to have seen a lot of hard rock & heavy metal bands live back then starting in 1978 @ 14yrs old with Ted Nugent & up until recently rockin' with SAXON live & meeting them with VIP passes. I feel bad for the kids growing up nowadays with the shitty so called music they put out now. SMDH...

Great clip. One thing that doesn't come across on your average computer speaker is the volume. I saw this tour in 1977 as opening act for Foreigner. The volume in that small club was deafening. Angus bouncing across the stage with his book bag, Malcom and Cliff banging out the rhythm. It was a night I'll never forget.

I'm 57 now. I watched this episode of Midnight Special when I was a young teenager. I had no idea who they were. All I remembered was the crazy guitarist with the backpack. A year or so later, when I became an ACDC fan, I realized what I had witnessed that night. It was history in the making, and I have been a fan of this band ever since. Bon is amazing, but you can't deny the work they have done with Brian as well. I won't choose between the two. But I can tell you this.....I was an ACDC fan before I even knew who they were. I just didn't realize it at the time.
